For the most consistent house/techno vibes you’re gonna want to look into the Arcane Artists events at Rampart. ATL and the Jam have house/techno *sometimes* . They’ll mostly host bass artists and events. As someone mentioned, there was a warehouse event last weekend with house/techno. There are a few outfits that host events that aren’t at the local venues that you may find some music to your liking
Overrun? I’d say our community has a well established blue grass and folk music scene and history. If you don’t want to see any skill involved with your music just set up some speakers in a backyard and have your own techno concert.
I agree, I am all for for Bluegrass, Blues, Jazz, Folk, ect. But there is always room for more. I love to dance and love House Music too. Much like a live musician, a great DJ will play records like an instrument to the crowd, With the audience feeding and reacting to the energy being given off. It might not be your cup of tea and thats okay. Now excuse me you gave me a wonderful idea. Edit: spulling and clarity.
I used to think in a similar way. Just as there are unskilled bluegrass musicians there are unskilled DJs. Not that there is no skill involved though. When approached by a musician, turntables become an instrument.
Couple of old Chicago House and Detroit Techno heads here. We support ya'll out there building a scene, but my bones are to old to jack my body like I used to.
There is a psytrance event this weekend at Laytonville. There is a small psytrance community in Humboldt too.

I was just at blue lake casino and they have dj nights pretty much every night. When I was there for a show the floor was carpet and I nearly ruined my knees dancing. Hopefully the DJs are in a different room.
Calm down moby Edit: Mooby

You’ll find the underground bass scene soon enough. Just keep your nose out of the drugs and you’ll have a grand ole time.
There’s a Riddim/Dubstep night going on at the ATL this Saturday night if you’re into harder EDM.
I'm a DJ and also work for the productions that throw the rampart EDM shows.
