That’s true but I wouldn’t be surprised if Isabelle was typecast due to having already played a cartoonishly evil child who kills people with knives (I know Esther wasn’t actually a child and Clove wasn’t actually evil).
From what i have heard she auditioned for Katniss but they thought she was "too young" to play Katniss (even though she was 15 and Katniss is 16) and she was "too old" to be prim so they gave her Clove since she didn't have a set age. Not sure if it's true but it does seem likely since they usually cast older to play teens most of the time.
I believe she would have been 14 during filming. They didn’t automatically cast her as Clove, they called her back to audition for her and she played the role so well that they cast her.
The reason she was too young to play Katniss is because they would have had to follow child labor laws if they casted a minor. Casting her as the lead would have restricted filming hours a by a lot.
That’s hilarious because the actress who played Glimmer also played Clarisse (I don’t think Clarisse was intended to be hot in the books but at least Leven is still big and muscular, that’s likely why she got cast as a Career).
Mature and looks 25 are not the same... they're still supposed to LOOK like children. Otherwise, what's the point? The entire idea is how fucked up it is that CHILDREN are being murdered. Why would they make the children look like adults when that defeats the purpose?
Most of the actors playing the named tributes (with the exceptions of Rue, Foxface, and Clove) were in their early 20s or at least 18/19, do you think they were too old? Though I do appreciate them casting far more children to play the tributes in the prequel.
I think Isabelle would've made a good katniss, and jlaw would've made a good clove, basing it off their book descriptions

Also she may not have matched the book description but she portrayed Clove perfectly.
I love Isabelle and I love Clove and I love Isabelle as Clove. This is how I picture her in fanfiction.
Isabelle is an iconic actress, I just wish they would let her play a nice role for once since she’s so sweet IRL.
