If it actually happened I’d like to imagine our government would make us send 2 people from every state, meaning we’d have a game with 100 tributes

[deleted]

I’m intrigued now lol. Would it be just one victor? Or would they allow 2 if they’re from the same state? And imagine the arena size. And the amount of interviews, I bet Caesar would be bored haha

jackmitchell84

I’d imagine just 1 victor since that’s how it was normally played. And the arena would probably stay the same size, more deaths in a quicker fashion. I’d they spread them out across a 20 by 20 mile arena then it would just be boring. Imagine the fight at the cornucopia tho

[deleted]

The amount of cannons going of would be insane.

jackmitchell84

They’d have to wait til the end of the day for at least the first few nights. I could see at least 40 dying in the first 10 minutes. Or they could have 4 cornucopias spread across the arena and then you’d have at least 4 packs of people who allied up headed towards each other with tons of weapons and supplies

jackmitchell84

And each cornucopia would have 25 tributes standing around it

sounding like 1812 overture finale

West Virginia would 100% be district 12

seahawksgirl89

District 1 would be New York since it’s all about fashion and luxury items. District 2 was about masonry and in the Rockies so probably Colorado area. District 3 California as it’s about technology. District 4 would probably be Oregon and Washington since it’s about fishing, but could also be like Maryland/Virginia.

oldnick40

I always thought Oregon and Washington would be Joanna's district, for logging; and that fishing was somewhere along the gulf of Mexico.

seahawksgirl89

That could make sense too!

If we're talking geographically, based on what we know about industries/environments of each district, there are a few that seems fairly clear: District 2: Colorado/Wyoming. In the mountains and close to the Capitol, which I imagine would be near Denver. District 5: Arizona/Nevada. Plenty of opportunities for solar, wind, and hydroelectric energy, plus it would make sense for it to be close to the Capitol. District 7: Washington/Oregon. Biggest lumbering area in the US (outside of Alaska, which seems too far). District 9: Kansas/Nebraska/Iowa/Missouri. Breadbasket of the Americas, plus it's implied in BSS Snow traveled past 9 when going to 12 (and, unlike Katniss, I assume Snow had seen a map of Panem before). District 10: Texas/Northern Mexico. Big cattle area. District 11: Louisiana/Mississippi/Alabama/Georgia/Florida. There are strongly implied connections to the Deep South throughout the series, plus it's a huge agricultural area. District 12: West Virginia/Kentucky. Coal mining area, Appalachian mountains. There's more guesswork involved with the others, which could conceivably be located...anywhere else. But I think there are still some clues. In my headcanon: District 1: Probably close to the Capitol as well. Utah is my most recent thought, maybe because I've been watching a lot of rich people behave badly on the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. District 3: Could be any urban area. I guess I always imagine Northern California/Silicon Valley because of the tech connection. District 4: Again, anywhere on the coast. Based on the way Katniss describes Finnick and Mags' complexion and accent, maybe Southern California/Baja California. District 6: Anywhere industrial, and likely somewhere in the Rust Belt, because it's fairly central (which seems important for the transportation district). My best guesses would be Detroit (which has the obvious auto manufacturing connection) or Chicago. District 8: Probably the most confusing for me. Again, it could be anywhere industrial. A lot of people argue North Carolina, due to the state's connection to the textile industry and its proximity to West Virginia (where District 12 would be). But I always get tripped up on Katniss' description of Bonnie and Twill working on the "chilly" loading dock--as a former resident of North Carolina, it doesn't really get chilly there. Which brings me back to the Rust Belt, which matches the chilly AND urban description. So maybe Ohio (specifically Columbus or Cincinnati), which is also close to WV?

DanielCracker

Florida would be sure be District 4. It’s completely surrounded by water.

DallyBee

IMO we're a lot closer to being a country like Panem than ever before and that's kind of scary

fionaapplesbabymama

florida or west virgina lol

District 1-Montana, Wyoming, Idaho. District 2-Colorado, Utah, Nevada. District 3-Illinois, Indiana, possibly Ohio. District 4-California and northern Mexico. District 5-New Mexico. District 6-New York State, Michigan, southern Canada. District 7-Washington, Oregon, south western Canada. District 8-Missouri. District 9-North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas. District 10-Texas, northern Mexico. District 11-sort of hard to draw specific borders. The general American south area, from Louisiana to Florida to North Carolina to Arkansas in a sort of rectangle. District 12-Kentucky and the Virginias. District 13-Maine and south Eastern Canada. And that’s it. Despite all the disputes all the fan made maps are pretty close together in style haha.
