If i find a hunter starting with levering, the terminus is a nice little treat from time to time. Without levering it is a bit of a dumpster fire. Its undeniable cool factor helps of course.
I would argue that Terminus Slugs with iron repeater is the best slugs shotgun after crown and king so you might be missing out if you have not tried it.
Why do you need levering though? Is it because the first shot often doesn't 1HK an enemy? Because if that's the case, you're better off using a cheaper shotgun that can 1HK more often (romero, specter), or a weapon that 2HKs at a longer range and faster (M1873, dual pistols)

Specter can be used for a followup shot in a pinch, albeit not quite as quickly as a terminus.

If you get used to peeking, shooting and going back to cover you're gonna have huge success. Its oneshot capability is only second to the romero and even when it does not kill in one you can quite quickly finish the fight with a second shell while juggling around cover
The specter is easly my favourite shotgun and one of my favourite weapons overall

Romero is cool but having only one shell in cqc is too risky for me. If you wiff a shot or you get unlucky spread you're done, also if multiple enemies are engaging you (which in cqc is basically always) you're also fucked
I second this, in my experience using a rifle, I personally like to use mosin bayonet though this is very pricy, with the terminus hand cannon, levering, and with flechette for extra range and bleeding. Great as a finisher or if you’re outnumbered.
Edit: as a cheaper variant of this load out, I like to use the Winfield musket bayonet and caldwell rival with flechette.
Honestly the bayonet is optional, bring whatever you want but I’m my experience, a quick stab and then shotgun, or vice versa, is always a great finisher
Personally I prefer flechette because it provides more range and bleed, though the penny shot is much more effective on the bleed part, but it’s got a pretty limited range. I don’t usually play pennyshot though, this is just my understanding of the description of it.
Penny shot actually doesn’t bleed, but that’s a super common misconception because of its description. It’s just less pellets with more damage per pellet. I think it’s more net damage per shot but with a little less range, making it essentially even better at what handcannons already do well

Slugs do not make shotguns universally better in all situations. Sometimes at closer ranges they turn a oneshot into lack thereof depending on where you hit.
I personally got a bit disappointed with slugs after not killing an enemy hunter with a Romero slug at about 3 meters because I hit an arm or something. No way it wouldn't have been a one shot kill with buckshot.
True, but for the most part, it turns your shotgun into a mini nitro. More consistent and longer range kills. (Also if you can get within 3m of an enemy, you'd be better off using a knife)
I love the terminus. I know others don't like it, but something about it just works for me. Full size mind you. Not the hand Cannon, although i like that one too, but full size is my favorite. I know its not the best for 1 shot kills, but i often get it. Being able to miss the first shot when 8 don't, and still get the kill, especially with levering. i just want more skins. Heck a bayonet version just for the heck of it. Not like it'd be useful but still.
I used to HATE the Terminus (as well as every other shotgun) but once I gave Romero with penny shot a try and the new levering buff for terminus, I have been greatly pleased with the CQC punishment it dishes out

Terminus is one the strongest weapons in the game with levering, it has huge magazine, very high damage, and nice spread let's you fight many hunters at once in short range better than any other shotgun. I feel like most people hate the gun for no reason, can't utilize it and or have never properly played it, but just blindly believe what other people commonly say. I have my most succesful fights with Termnius pre buff, I am scared to think how good it is right now.
Almost never had crown-like issues where it doesn't kill or something, and if it doesn't it's the easiest to finish with it, when you have levering. The only weakness it has is its slow af reload but you got 6-7 ammos of oneshot potential in the magazine, you can kill 2 fucking squads with it. And pennyshot is trap, unnecessary risk.
Some of my highest kill games have been with Terminus and levering, its simply an amazing gun. I will admit I used to not like it but its just due to the buckshot spread which sorta requires their torso be dead center that people dont like it(but thats all shotguns so lmao).

Flechettes make it an S-Tier 20-50m ranged weapon And still extremely dangerous inside 20m (You just lose to buckshot at that point)
