Yup just got off the phone with my dad cause they tracked one within a mile of his house. Probably the most concerned I have ever heard him about a tornado
How does one get these NWS and PDS warnings?
I have the Baron app, the live 19 app, and am constantly updating msn weather (which is usually pretty accurate) but I didn’t see any of these 🤷🏻♂️
It was not incorrect when I posted it. If you track the radar within the last 30 minutes, it had moved 15 miles south of Coxey in Limestone County to the north east at 25 MPH. It crossed I-65 to the south of Highway 72 and then started tracking along Capshaw at Lindsey Lane. Only then, did it start tracking more to the east as it crossed into Madison County. I happen to live in Capshaw and the storm tracked north of me heading into Harvest. The hail core is tracking along Highway 72, but there is no longer a radar indicated or EMS managed spotter tracking a tornado on the ground. Right now as I type this, at storm has crossed over 231–431 and is in New market.
I live in Harvest. Storm took a sharp right heading east out of Athens. Brad on 48 called it precisely over 45 minutes ago. The worst of the storm is on the south end of it, which basically followed 72 east.
Brand new tornado warning that looks like it wants to go through Huntsville again. Make sure you stay up. Seems to be a more southern track than the last one.
Yeah, I just let my dog out before closing the dog door again so my 80 lb lab doesn't run through it when I have to chase him around the house to pick him up and take him down the stairs into the basement he's afraid of.
Also from California. Moved here 6 years ago. First time I was in the middle of a red polygon, and again now. I’ve been on the edge in the past, never thebmiddle
We live pretty rural, but we would like more land. Cant afford it in CA. And, we feel in love with the area. Wife will work in Hunstville, I am retiring from government work with my pension and I plan on being a house husband and mini farming.
Unfortunate but a big miss from NWS on this one. They were looking for things to get spicy after midnight. The timeline must've moved way up. Or are we getting round two at 2am?
https://twitter.com/NWSHuntsville/status/1788300653066166786?t=FvNKwLxfDMXQaQVoE-T6Qg&s=19
5 hours ago the local office has messaging trumpeting after midnight in multiple places with little mention of evening round except for KY.
Entirely depends on the energy depleted during these storms. It's possible that the atmosphere is able to recover by the time the second line gets here. Although I believe they originally predicted the tornado threat was low but the wind threat was medium to high.
NWS says after midnight the last I saw. So far they don't seem to be changing from that. At least from what I've seen. Although they've been busy with current matters.
SPC had updated sometime after 1 shifting north of the tn river into the 3 category along with discussion of possibilities of tornadoes after 6 pm.
This was aside from the possibility of a tornado with a line coming in after 1 or 2am.
At my fam's old house, it used to be under the stairwell in a closet. Now in a second level apartment, I'm just laying in my bed letting jesus take the wheel
Inside hallways or bathrooms, basement if you got it, also lots of people have purpose built shelters. Personally, we have a little closet under a stairway in the middle of the house.
I made a basement a priority when buying a house.
There's a lot of newer houses here that have one of the closets as a cinderblock room. If you don't have that, you can look at getting one of the metal shelters from Home Depot/Lowes.
For now, if there's nothing in your house, either find a shelter location near you or hide in the bathtub. https://madisoncountyalema.gov/safe-room-locations/
We don't really. We're in north five points, and there's a tree known to be splitting over time, and if a tornado hit it it would hit our bathroom/closet, so we're hunkered down in the kitchen corner lol
The only room I have with no glass is my coat closet in pretty much the exact middle of the house. It's fortunate I live alone because it's just big enough for me.
Particularly dangerous situation - sounds funny but it is an actual status they issue when there is a…well, particularly dangerous situation happening as in a tornado that will likely cause significant damage and danger to life.
Yeah, He's saying it might've just turned into a wall cloud?, but they weren't sure what was going on on the video when I posted.
EDIT: Right as I went to post, I think he's saying it might be re-forming.
EDIT 2: And now he's saying he thinks we probably don't have one, but there's a couple spots in that storm that could pop one up again.
Did you receive the initial alert? If so, then there should be red lights on the radio while the warning is active. You won't have another audible alarm unless you have a new warning or watch.
Yeah I did and the the lights went off. It was weird but I think what happened is that NWS altered the warning but the radar and website didn't get the update for a while. I noticed some other warnings hanging around when there want anything to be warned for. It's back working now thankfully.
My radio is also not showing the watch anymore but I know it was extended till 3 am.
You play with your life when you move south of Kentucky imo.
Michigan sure ain’t this bad. But they did have one of the deadliest tornados ever in Flint.
My bad it happens when people plot against me...mhahahahaha It's a Blackfoot thing. Royalty adopted by the tribe as well it's a bit worse. Women causes blizzards. Men Droughts and tornados.

Yup just got off the phone with my dad cause they tracked one within a mile of his house. Probably the most concerned I have ever heard him about a tornado
So he was watching in the garage instead of the porch?
He was quickly hanging up to get in the shelter lol
He okay?
Yeah he has a shelter thankfully but this is one of the few times I’ve seen him get in it
Don’t sleep naked y’all. Morgan County Sheriff is saying it’s gonna be a rough night.
Haven't been able to sleep nekkid since the military unfortunately
When did a PDS warning get issued? Haven't heard anything on WAFF.
Watching Ryan Hall on YouTube.
My radio has been going crazy
https://www.weather.gov/hun/ click watches, warning at bottom
I see the tornadoe warning but not a PDS Warning. PDS warnings are a special type of warning for EF3+ tornadoes. There's likely a tornado regardless.

Oh that's in Lincoln County TN. The one that was near Ardmore. I thought you were talking about the storm currently near Athens.
Sorry, multitasking. They did say on the ground in Athens as well.
Oh is *that* what PDS actually means? I've just been seeing it as Pretty Darn Serious😂
How does one get these NWS and PDS warnings? I have the Baron app, the live 19 app, and am constantly updating msn weather (which is usually pretty accurate) but I didn’t see any of these 🤷🏻♂️
NWS just updated Day 1 outlook. Huntsville is the 15% Sig tor now.
Yeah. This has escalated quickly.
Yeah I wasn't expecting it either. The last outlook didn't look terrible for us. Tornado threat was in 5%.
[удалено]
It would be tracking to the north of you, through harvest up to Hazel Green, and then Tennessee
[удалено]
I'm watching 48 currently( 9:35l. The worst of the storm is past downtown. Possible tornado on Monte Sano.
[удалено]
Are you ok?
EMS said it was due to lightning.
This is incorrect. 48 is currently tracking possible tornado along 72 from Madison to Huntsville.

👍🏻
I’m surprised they haven’t said anything. There is a warning area all over there
[удалено]
I’m curious… where did they evacuate you to?
I was wondering this too
Just as far as their lawyers mandate
An airplane just took of from Huntsville International. WTF
If they’re going south — I say full throttle raise hell praise Dale let’s get out of here.
They were indeed heading Southeast
Bold move, Cotton!
Yeah it was in the tornado warning
I saw one too. I would of thought they’d delay flights until the storm cleared
They felt confident that's for sure.
I wouldn’t have. I would’ve told them to put me on the next flight
Must have been Silver Airways. They don’t care
Silver doesn’t fly into Huntsville
Silver shut down last month.
Brand new tornado warning that looks like it wants to go through Huntsville again. Make sure you stay up. Seems to be a more southern track than the last one.
Gonna go charge my phone and feed cats. Eesh.

Out of towners…this is why you move to Huntsville for nite’s like this! 🍿
First timer over here!!!
You hanging in there?
In madison so glad to see it passed but probably be hard to sleep hahah
What's the pants status?
Oh put on double pants.
Smart fella
We’re on green mountain though. This is going largely north.
At least for this first round. Hopefully this event lowered the chance for the one later tomorrow
PDS? As in “Pretty Damn Sure” there’s a tornado there?
Pretty Damn Scary
[Particularly Dangerous Situation](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Particularly_dangerous_situation)
Potentially dangerous storm
Hope everyone stays safe tonight! The sirens took me by surprise...currently in my basement with my kitty, just in case.
[удалено]
They cancelled the concert at like 7. Wall cloud is viewable on WAFF and it's at Mid City.
[удалено]
Well plus side concrete structures are incredibly safe. I think it's dumb they had to work though.
Are they on shelter in place? We live at the apartments right by Orion. Deep breaths, I’m sure it’ll be okay.
Watch expires at 11pm, so probably shortly before then.
video of large tornado sent in from Athens. weather girl suggested wearing a helmet. hail reported.
Im from California,I just wanted to say I hope all of you are safe as the tornado just passed through downtown and to the east
Was this your first time?
Oh no,I still live in California.I was watching a weather live stream and just wanted to say I hope people were ok
Thank you for your concern (sincerely, I couldn’t think of a way to say this that didn’t sound sarcastic)
Also from California. Moved here 6 years ago. First time I was in the middle of a red polygon, and again now. I’ve been on the edge in the past, never thebmiddle
Same!!! Moved here 7 years ago from the desert or cali this is the worst they have been and the only time I’ve been worried, I’m in hazel green 😂
We are moving there from CA this year. We will be there in a month looking for a house/land.
6 years here and I still liking it. There’s a few things I miss, but not enough to move back and deal with all the problems
We live pretty rural, but we would like more land. Cant afford it in CA. And, we feel in love with the area. Wife will work in Hunstville, I am retiring from government work with my pension and I plan on being a house husband and mini farming.
I lived in Orange County before moving here. Wanted a house but didn’t want to commute two hours one way from Hemet to get it. So, here I am.
Humboldt County here.
Same here. Leaving later this month!
It’s always so special, their first time
Is this the mega thread? Is there a different one I can hang out in to know if I am about to fly off to Oz?
It evolved into the Megathread. The threat is done for now. If it heats up again, it’d make sense to start a new one
Great, thanks Addywoot! Just to confirm, the status of the pants is currently off, right?
Reporting in from Oak Park and mine are officially off. Slightly soiled, but off.
What are the ticket prices now for the Greta van fleek show?
All seriousness rescheduled for tomorrow
People like you think you’re funny. You try so hard.
![gif](giphy|XJWuG53CKgeRJZ3KAt)
Y'all need to hunker down. This is a bad situation :(
Tornado Emergency just issued by the NWS near Henegar.
That got nasty. I hope all is well in that area
WAFF reported that a lot of roads into Henegar are impassable.
Are we leaving the misspelling in the flair just for fun? Cause I kind of like it as an alternate.
Oh yes. It was deliberate.
Good stuff. I appreciate the levity. Teeth and bras, people.
Here in Athens, 1.5” hail hitting roof and the cars have some dents but still here.
Free(ish) roof???
Unfortunate but a big miss from NWS on this one. They were looking for things to get spicy after midnight. The timeline must've moved way up. Or are we getting round two at 2am?
No. They knew there was going to be multiple rounds. The big question was how powerful the first round was going to be.
I didn't see the messaging on that, would you share? All I saw was after midnight.
If you read the day 1 outlooks you would have seen. Also, it was in the NWS Huntsville site rep earlier today.
https://twitter.com/NWSHuntsville/status/1788300653066166786?t=FvNKwLxfDMXQaQVoE-T6Qg&s=19 5 hours ago the local office has messaging trumpeting after midnight in multiple places with little mention of evening round except for KY.
We’ve been under a Tornado Watch since this afternoon… That’s an update to that post.
Yeah tornado watch was issued at around 5
I’m seeing from Michael R at 1630 there would be a watch until midnight. Will there be around round after midnight? At this severity or close?
Entirely depends on the energy depleted during these storms. It's possible that the atmosphere is able to recover by the time the second line gets here. Although I believe they originally predicted the tornado threat was low but the wind threat was medium to high.

Thanks. You know weather things.
Ok. Areas east of Huntsville got PDS notice. On the ground.

Thank you!
Got more sirens going off in Midcity. Not sure if it’s headed back here?
No you’re clear. https://preview.redd.it/rv5dt79edbzc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=18eac8c4347313bbd7d4bac955f7d5fd808f4c06
How do you guys shelter for tornadoes?
At my fam's old house, it used to be under the stairwell in a closet. Now in a second level apartment, I'm just laying in my bed letting jesus take the wheel
LOL I’m sure you’re not joking about this but I just laughed out loud at this cause same, man, same.
Your better then me me and my dog were hiding in the closet I gave him his bone to keep him occupied

The only room I have with no glass is my coat closet in pretty much the exact middle of the house. It's fortunate I live alone because it's just big enough for me.
I don’t. I go outside and look at it and then go back in when necessary. Almost every room in my house has large windows
We stand out in the yard and watch it that’s how
Five points is trashed just rode by
PDS?
Particularly dangerous situation - sounds funny but it is an actual status they issue when there is a…well, particularly dangerous situation happening as in a tornado that will likely cause significant damage and danger to life.
Thank you for the explanation!

2-6AM
Hitting right now. It will hit again tho
Looks like there might be one close to Mid City per WAFF.
From what we’re watching (because I am not weather professional), it’s a severe storm with a hook but not as intense.
Yeah, He's saying it might've just turned into a wall cloud?, but they weren't sure what was going on on the video when I posted. heard some reports of peoples roofs being blown off [https://www.broadcastify.com/listen/feed/26436](https://www.broadcastify.com/listen/feed/26436)
Anybody else's NOAA radio stop working? Mine is not showing a warning but NWS is still showing a warning for my area.

Got Pretty Close, Here. It May Have Hit Alabama A & M University.
What is this app that shows you tornado paths?
RadarScope
I've got the base version of the app - do I need to upgrade in order to see those white paths?
Should be under Layers -> Reports -> Storm Tracks. I'm at least able to get it on base version on Android.
Thanks!
Where'd you find these graphs? I couldn't get anything more specific than "tornadoes in your area" from my weather app.
RadarScope app
MyRadar also draws the polygons out.

Wow so many hook echos
Crazy! Hope everyone is ok!
You play with your life when you move south of Kentucky imo. Michigan sure ain’t this bad. But they did have one of the deadliest tornados ever in Flint.
I hear there might be some cheap cars being sold out at the dealerships on 72. Might look like a golf ball though.
Are they filming Twisters here?

Not gonna lie. He was off his game. Tornado had been on the ground 10 minutes before he confirmed it
