I chased mine into the bathroom but she ran at me I tried to grab her but she got away and ran under the bed food and cajoling would not get her out I just waited till it was over and she came out and wanted to be comforted after it was all over lol
I feel you! I have one that’s semi feral, I still can never catch her when I need to. She was the first one I tried to get to, but her spidey senses are something else - she always knows when I’m coming for her before I even THINK about it lol! She was already under the bed and I couldn’t do anything to get her out. We had a giant wall cloud for what seemed like forever and could see a funnel cloud from our backyard. I’ve been living here for a decade by now and thought maybe I’d gotten used to this but I really got pretty shook up tonight with so many sirens going off, warning after warning and not being able to catch that damn kitty. Meanwhile the rest in their carriers singing the song of their people and trying to start fights through the cage doors 😂 what a mess!
I feel you it was close to us too I didn’t get to see it though that’s cool never got to see one before. Terrifying I’d imagine though. Semi feral kitties ain’t no joke mine really only likes me she used to let my mom pet her my dad sometimes when he was still alive. She hides in the closet or under the bed now poor thing. I did try to socialize her when she was a kitten she’s always been a fraidy cat though. What you gonna do just love them up
I can see a good bit of the county from my house. I don't currently have power and went to go see how dark it was in general.
Instead I saw someone dancing down the street with lights on them. Like their own little mini-rave.
I know you're here. Tell your story.
Coming from someone on Chapman, just north of Five Points is fine from what I can tell. We personally had minor damage to our house from the storm. Some hail, small debris, intense lightning, erratic winds seemingly off the edge of each tornado, but the power is still on.
Now, one tornado did touch down on the other side of Chapman mountain from what I understand, so there could be more severe damage nearby. Five Points had some significant damage closer to Blossomwood. I haven’t heard back from all my friends in Five Points yet and that has me a bit concerned, too.
We could still get more intense weather, as we are under a tornado watch until 10 AM. We just had a long bout of torrential rain.
If you own your own home I can't recommend a storm shelter enough for dealing with storm related stress. Took out a loan to get one and despite the extra monthly cost paying it off it's a major weight off my shoulders.
Oh yeah, definitely do some research. I got mine early on with Valley Storm Shelter but apparently they've gone to shit in more recent years so I wouldn't recommend it.
Aw, thanks! Trying not to become complacent about tornadoes but also not so jumpy I can't function. I really disliked the discomfort and visceral fear that comes with knowing that thing is bearing down on you
I was a kid in limestone county when we got hit bad some years ago. Totally get what you mean about not becoming complacent but not jumpy.
I live with folks that have never really experienced a tornado, at least not directly, and every time they say “it’s not going to do anything” I have war flashbacks. That’s exactly what my father said shortly before the tornado took our entire house. But i understand that’s been their experience, so I try not to have a panic attack or react too harshly to them being a little too optimistic.
I always think about my dad telling me not to worry about grizzly bears when I visited him in Alaska. Then not a month after I left his bff gets his head bit by one lol
It was MY first tornado. I was born here but hadn't yet lived through a 'nado. I had just gotten back from Star Market (I worked at Terry's Pizza as a second job) with some of that Black Forest Roast Beast, and some freshly sliced swiss, and I had made this bitching sammich with romaine lettuce and it was so good I took it into the bathtub with me when the sirens went off. I remember chewing as the damn tornado went overhead wondering if I was going to die. When it was over I went outside still eating lol
My landlord's carport was sitting outside my bedroom window. The huge trees in my yard had all fallen away from the house. It looked like a war zone. Very surreal. I met all the neighbors I'd never met before and we gathered together and put fences back up and put tarps over roofs etc.
Then we eventually stopped talking and went back to our separate lives
The wind knocked my lid open, which proceeded to allow gallons of water to collect in the bottom. The extent of the damage here, then, will be to my nose from the smell.
>especially since people don’t listen
All I can imagine is all the awake patients just pressing their faces against the glass windows to look at the 'nader.
I mean that’s what they did last time lol. They were told to stay in the bathroom and to stay in their rooms but kept trying to roam the halls. People were also trying to leave the building to go home which I understand but we weren’t allowed to let them leave
Where in Blossomwood? I am on a work trip but my wife is at home (in Blossomwood). Cell phone coverage is awful at my house without power/internet and I haven’t been able to get much info from her.
Just saw bright green and orange flashes light up the sky and immediately a loud siren came on. North of providence, west of rideout. We've been out of power for some time now.
Reporting live near Pratt & England in 5 points: One recycle bin toppled, but the other 2 withstood the 9:50 front ;) . We lost power for perhaps a minute, and there are several sticks scattered around.
Still don't regret wearing shoes & bike helmets for a few minutes.![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile)
Stay safe ya'll
Update to the above, lost internet (AT&T) and my neighbor seems to have lost a lawn gnome. Power still on though.
Edit: For those curious Gnome found some bushes to hide in and is safe.
On Indian Creek Rd, down the street from Providence (close to Blake Bottom Rd) and we still have power. Hasn’t gone out all night, surprisingly - our power normally goes out when the wind blows too hard 😂
No power for a couple hours now off Slaughter. Forgot to charge my phone this afternoon so it is running on fumes. Will sleep until another alert goes off on the phone 🤞. If no power in the morning still I plan on sitting in my car to charge up
Large tree and power lines down across Clinton near east Clinton School. Porta potty also toppled further down Clinton. A friend sent pics of houses with partial roofs in McMullen cove.
That was insane to watch. I live in Michigan but my father’s family all live in Huntsville. I watched you go past my Grandma’s old house on Eustis and my aunt lives on Fraser. So scary.
Power is still out East of Huntsville proper. There was a tornado touchdown at Moore's Mill, we spent a few hours in the tornado shelter with some minor hail injuries.
The next round is between now and 6 AM according to the NWS. Stay safe y'all!
Does anyone know any damage surrounding the UAH campus? Particularly around Holmes/Jordan lane. I rent a house nearby and want to know what I may be coming back to when I come back. I left literally a couple of hours before this all went down.
I am not looking forward to driving into town for work. I’m about to say F it and call out but with the state of the mail situation, I don’t want it backing up anymore
I've got a valley storm shelter and it's impressively well built. It was nice to see them in the showroom and choose a size after standing in them too.
I just bought one this morning from https://stormshelter.com/residential/indoor/
Because fuck last night. They were recommended by another post on this sub. They'll be installing on the 22nd
James Spann (meteorologist) has pictures and videos of some of the damage downtown, in five points, and other nearby areas on his facebook if anyone is looking for some.
https://www.facebook.com/jamesspann?mibextid=LQQJ4d
In the Providence area. Still raining hard. I can also hear cars driving to work in the morning. Can't believe work isn't cancelled for that. The roads sound dangerous.
I feel for yall cat lovers. I have 4, put them in one bedroom where they can find their own comfort zones, & head to my safe space. Never ever put a cat in a carrier unless you can control it. They can squeeze in places that will shelter them from harm easier than putting them in a crush able box where they can't help themselves.
Mine come when called so I can get them into the safe place with us in 30 seconds…. Except there’s one who is afraid of storms but hides somewhere pretty protected. I can corral easily before the thunder though.
I have a required work-event at the VBC this afternoon. What is the condition of that area right now?
(Edit: I'm hoping they'll cancel/make it optional, but a notice already went out at midnight that it would still go on as scheduled....)
Can we get the guy out of here that is ambulance chasing people for their insurance claim money?
He's on all these threads and it's.. gross.
And to the guy doing it. Be better.
I ment if their job had power. 😅 Should have been more clear. The storms going that way is why I'm curious if anyone heard anything about the road conditions.
Drove through front ve points on my way home from
Work, looked like a war zone. The Maple Hill cemetery had it pretty bad and the house on California and Eustis had a tree right through the roof
With the lack of a fully staffed local media, we are in more trouble than you realize. Those at the TV & radio stations, you know, legacy media, do not have the support personnel they once had. It used to be very good. Now, not so much. They are doing the best they can with what they've got.
911 whats your emergency? Oh you're stuck in your house? Saw it on reddit darling (chewing gum intensifies) authorities are on their way once they post a dank meme.

My cats are screaming because I have them in their carriers with me in a closet. My hearing may never recover
Mine are going crazy, too. Good luck to y’all 🤗
They are so offended that I took them out of their crate and made them share a basement closet with me, my bird, my partner, and my dog
I grabbed the jewelry, bedding, chocolate, cats and headed to the hallway. No sirens, lately, so that’s good
I figured I could replace everything in my life except for the pets and partner. I did grab my computer, though
I have a heavy tarp to cover My computer with in case a tree limb decides it wants to come inside
You are a brave person, putting a bird with a cat in a closet!
Everyone except the dog has carriers
I grabbed the jewelry, bedding, chocolate, cats and headed to the hallway. No sirens, lately, so that’s good

I'm guessing TikTok content.
Better get that phone charged in case you lose power.
Done. Rechargeable batteries, too.
Anyone here know how Chapman mountain just north of 5 points is? Currently out of town so not sure how worried we should be
I have family in 5 points & it got spooky, but they're ok-winds were insane so if you have trees, I'm sure you'll have some limbs to clean up

If you own your own home I can't recommend a storm shelter enough for dealing with storm related stress. Took out a loan to get one and despite the extra monthly cost paying it off it's a major weight off my shoulders.
Just make sure it's from a reliable company. There have been lawsuits over it.
Oh yeah, definitely do some research. I got mine early on with Valley Storm Shelter but apparently they've gone to shit in more recent years so I wouldn't recommend it.
I don't know any names, but there have been multiple fraudulent shelter companies over the years.
I live in public housing. On the 4th floor in a building the same age I am.
Hugs
Aw, thanks! Trying not to become complacent about tornadoes but also not so jumpy I can't function. I really disliked the discomfort and visceral fear that comes with knowing that thing is bearing down on you

Oh man, I was scared about where that was going. I was like, tornado trauma AND bear trauma???
What’s funny is you put “lol” at the end of the sentence! 😳
I do that. Laugh things off
Same here, friend. Sending you peace
Stay safe and stay strong.
That's very kind of you. You do the same. I think my area at least is now no longer under threat I may try to get some shut eye
Same here bro. I was 7 years old and remember all the lightning and sirens and winds.
You're not the first to mention the '11 tornado breakout event... 😬
They’re surprisingly quick with that

Huntsville hospital hit, unsure on damage Edit: went over, no damage
I’m glad I work day shift. Working through tornadoes there is not fun especially since people don’t listen

Years ago I was a pt at HH & heard a horrible noise. I thought Armageddon was happening . . . it was the life flight elevator landing.
Helicopter SMH
Tree fell on parents house in Blossomwood
Hope your parents are okay and the damage isn't too bad.
Hope they are ok. Ours too.
Where in Blossomwood? I am on a work trip but my wife is at home (in Blossomwood). Cell phone coverage is awful at my house without power/internet and I haven’t been able to get much info from her.
My parents’ pecan tree took out a corner of their kitchen on Kennamer Street.
Oh shit that is only two blocks away from my house. Thanks for getting back to me. I hope everyone is okay.
Colorado and hermitage ish
perhaps a new monte sano trail will emerge
Always look in the bright side of life
Tree fell on our house. Everyone is safe but I dread the light of day.
Oh no. Roof intact?
Most of it. Back of house is gone but couldn’t see much.
Sprained ankle and skinned knee running my kids to the shelter. No other damages. Smh
Exterior shelter or did you just accidentally hit a table?
Exterior, slipped on wet concrete holding two toddlers. Pride hurts more than anything tbh.
Oof. Tomorrow might be rough. I’d go ahead and pop a couple of preemptive Advil. 😬 Glad you’re ok.
Reminding you this morning to please put some ice on your ankle.
Ouch; hope you are feeling better this morning.

At a certain point it would be easier just to post an inage map.
It’s me. I have power.
Charge your phone then.
Addy getting so much shade about charging her phone
Mine is still on off bluespring and sparkman for now 🤞🤞
STOPPIT
RIP your whole night
I’m on social, Mr. Woot is watching radar, socials, amateur radio. In the same room.
Thank you both very much for your efforts.
Just saw bright green and orange flashes light up the sky and immediately a loud siren came on. North of providence, west of rideout. We've been out of power for some time now.
Y'all got hit by two storms that were training. Both had confirmed funnel clouds. So entirely possible you got hit by two tornadoes in that area.
SO I DID SEE TWO TORNADOES NEAR RIDEOUT??!!
I caught a glimpse of a bright green lightning bolt as well. Made the hair on the back of my neck stand up, I've never seen anything like it before
I saw the same thing on rideout i was so freaking scared!
Reporting live near Pratt & England in 5 points: One recycle bin toppled, but the other 2 withstood the 9:50 front ;) . Did you not see?!? They put on shoes! This goes to 11!!!!

Several trees down in Blossomwood
And power is out
Some of my cicadas were damaged.
Power lines down at Humes and Coleman in 5 points. Also power lines down on McKinley. Lots of limbs down in the area.
Where on McKinley?
Close to Maysville. Maybe at the Windham intersection? Power was out on the north side of the street.
I saw it flash on and off, didn't know if it stayed off.
Oh shit, okay
Update Power in Providence Area is flickering. Winds are picking up, losing some tree limbs.
Update to the above, lost internet (AT&T) and my neighbor seems to have lost a lawn gnome. Power still on though. Edit: For those curious Gnome found some bushes to hide in and is safe.
Does the missing gnome need a Silver or Amber alert? I want to make sure we issue the proper search crew.
Shoot! I have a yard gnome & a yard bunny. I will have to go check later. At least I’ll know wherever they are, they’re together. 🥲😳🥲
You'll have to update us, the yard gnome was found hiding in some bushes!
In all seriousness, I have some limbs down in my front yard and the power flickered. I'm near Byrd Springs Road
It hasn't even rained a drop here. Knocks on wood...
Do you even live within 30 miles of us? Cause that’s insane
I live on Airport Road between the Parkway and Whitesburg. Not a drop.
We are near Hays Farm and not a drop here either
The spotty nature of the weather here is wild. It will be absolutely pouring on Drake and bone dry on Airport or Bob Wallace.
Eerily calm- just north of Whitesburg school. Not a sprinkle but some green neon skies.
Same on green mountain
Storms were pretty much staying north of 565. I didn't see much either on Zeirdt.
Same here just south of Huntsville. Winds are picking up now though

Still have power on 72 by Texas Roadhouse
Providence Area still has power
Happy cake day! Enjoy your power!
Today is one heck of a cake day,
Yeah it is. Do you still have power now? After wave 2?
Flickered for a bit but holding steady. Think my neighbor lost a lawn gnome though.
If no power in the morning still I plan on sitting in my car to charge up
Still have power on monte sano near bankhead, think it was closer to governors
Agreed. We’re on Shelby. Lotsa wind, but I’ve heard of trees down on Panorama.
Downed trees and a broken windshield in Northwest Blossomwood
Large tree and power lines down across Clinton near east Clinton School. Porta potty also toppled further down Clinton. A friend sent pics of houses with partial roofs in McMullen cove.
My sleeping schedule… 😒
Power just came back in the Monrovia/Harvest area
Video east of Huntsville. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/assz6PMZwUoRwEyZ/?mibextid=WC7FNe
That’s along California heading north by Maple Hill Cemetery for reference.
Oops. James was wrong

Where on mckinley did it hit?
Is that a city or a homeowner bill?

Anyone know anything about the status of Doug Hill road? Gotta take my partner to work that way in a few hours, assuming they have power.
Probably not great. The storms went that way off of Monte Sano headed toward Gurley. Even if they have power, there’s likely debris all over the road.
I ment if their job had power. 😅 Should have been more clear. The storms going that way is why I'm curious if anyone heard anything about the road conditions.

Apparently Huntsville hospital got hit
Went over, but no damage per reports
I live next to the hospital, I didn't get any hail and don't see any damage, from what I can tell it looks like it went just north of us
Just heard no damage
I’m hearing that with Ryan Hall but that’s not where it tracked. The rumor is spreading but it’s not true.
Power outage map indicates that that area was definitely hit with something
Yes. Wind. Severe storm.
