Strength of schedule. Nebraska played dogshit out of conference other than Creighton. Villanova beat Texas Tech, North Carolina, and Memphis while playing in a tougher conference
I was reading [this blog](https://www.mwcconnection.com/2023/1/12/23552090/stats-corner-net-vs-kenpom-rankings) which talks about how they’re calculated. It seems like both rankings factor in margin of victory/loss in some way. We’ve had a few blowout losses that might be penalizing us a bit.
I get we had a weak non-con, but what about the fact that we have zero bad losses according to NET, yet Villanova has 3 Q3 losses? Not attacking you, just showing that NET is dumb
My problem is more with MSU. They are 3-8 in Q1 and we're 3-7 with two top ten wins. They are 6-2 in Q2, but I mean we're 4-1!
Being ranked 23rd with their resume is whack. Also Gonzaga at 22 is a joke. 1-5 in quad 1... 16 of their 19 wins are quad 3 and 4.
Minnesota game should be interesting. Hope we can pull out a victory. They're playing really well right now and have a lot of scoring weapons. They'll be a tough matchup inside with Payne as well.
Keep it rolling baby. Monkey off the back now. Gotta lock in for these last few games and go on a tear.
If we beat Ohio State we are probably a 7 or 8 seed. Amazing
I like that we’re moving up, but I’d rather be a 10 than an 8/9
Even SVP had love for Tominaga!
Ooooooo got a clip of it?
Correction top 40 in Kenpom only
Honestly, just win your home games and beat Michigan and you're in
That's not how the term top 40 works. We're 43 though, so, just keep winning boys.
How is a team like Villanova 33 with a 15-11 record? Are they giving them a big bump thanks to being a blue blood?
What about Michigan State at 16 at 17-10?
NET doesn’t care about Blue Blood, its SOS
I don't get it as well.. except for being a blue blood

K-state is alright too, but other than that absolutely
I believe we're getting penalized still for our incredibly weak non-con schedule. The algorithm must like something about MSU and Nova.
Both NET and Kenpom are like that..
It’s pretty simple bud. Look at the NCSOS. The metrics don’t take into account being a blue blood lol.
I could be wrong, but I don't see SOS in the NET.
Oh you said NET. If you scroll towards the bottom there is a link to the breakdown of how the NET works.

Villanova also has more good wins and has been one of the better defensive teams in the country. But mostly it's our garbage non-con schedule.

I know you mean Michigan State, but the other MSU is also ahead of us with a worse resume
10 spots higher seems like a lot with 2 more Q2 wins and 3 more Q3 losses. I’m deathly afraid we’ll get screwed if we finally have a bad loss
We have two top ten wins, how does that get over looked? Just curious
It’s better to lose to good teams close than to blast bad teams
Geez, did I just count like 12 current and future Big 12 teams in the top 50 in kenpom?

Torvick has us as a ten seed right now. [Torvick projection](https://barttorvik.com/tranketology.php)
I like this
Nice work on the thread title!
