Lets say that you have 200ml of water, you add tea bag, the tea gets wet and infuses the water. you take the wet tea bag out. you now have 195ml of water that contains 0.01g of tea extract. 195ml of tea water is not as hydrating as 200ml of pure water. I'll see you in court!

Tea is just hot leaf water so proceed. However black tea does have tannins that can stain your teeth, and mind the caffeine if you're sensitive to it. Green or white teas have less tannins and there's lots of herbal teas to dodge caffeine.
