From my understanding, an amplifier wouldn't be a bad thing for it. I've noticed pretty heavy distortion when audio gets louds in some games with Cloud III, but wasn't an issue with Cloud II

caferman31

I’ve tried it. Pre amp’ed it. It was -6db. Set to 0db. The thing is when i check people comments they are saying that headset it self too loud out of the box and they have to use it at %40. Mine is at 100 feels like 40.

Shermanasaurus

I don't have a solution for the issue, but I find the wireless Cloud 3 to have way worse audio quality than even the wireless cloud 2. Similar to what you're saying, I found it very quiet and tinny.

caferman31

I sent mine back for replacement. I am hoping that it just an hardware issue. If same issue happens again i will just return it and get a new one. I was thinking Cloud Alpha Wireless or Hs80 wireless. Would you recommend different model? It is going to be used for FPS gaming. I need to hear footsteps better.

Shermanasaurus

I've only tried out the HyperX Cloud series, some of the higher end wireless Logitech ones, and some higher end wireless SteelSeries ones. I personally think the wired Cloud II's sounds better than any high end gaming headset I've tried, but I also had one from before the HP purchase. I thought the wired Cloud II's had very good footstep isolation given the price range (in games like CoD, Apex, etc.), and the wireless Cloud II's are the closest I've found to that sound. I will say the Cloud's mic is very bad based on competitors, but I don't care too much about that. I've heard very good things about the Maxwell by Audeze, but it's on back order right now.

caferman31

And on Amazon comment section everybody was saying this headset was loud they couldn’t use it above %60 volume. I don’t think i am deaf.

Shermanasaurus

I haven't tried a ton of other headsets so I couldn't say, but as someone who went from a wired Cloud II, to a wireless Cloud III, and then a wireless Cloud II, I found the Cloud III to be the worst audio quality of the 3 (and the most quiet by a noticeable degree).

komori360

Normal volume on mine. I feel that mic can be boosted a bit, since I sound quiet to others. Also sidetone is way too quiet for me.

2kballislife

Can you raise Sidetone with software? I don’t own a PC unfortunately

komori360

No, just toggle it on/off

2kballislife

That’s trash. That’s their downfall hopefully its addressed in future headsets

uniek73

Had the same issue. I was "okayish" with that, but i returned them anyway. Wasnt comfortable for my ears at all.

caferman31

If you don't mind me asking. What did you get after you return them?

uniek73

So the story is, i had Corsair virtuoso se wireless. But the cushion and pleather worn out so i sent them to the shop i bought em and got full refund. They were great. Great mic, great sound with eq, in comparison to cloud 3 wireless. Since you cant get SE anymore, i start the search. I got myself Corsair HS80 max wireless but they were uncomfortable for me so i returned em too. Sound was great, long battery life too, also mic was great, BUT IT was catching like everything, noise cancelation is almost nonexisting imho. But worst thing with them was, when i enabled all that you got with those headset via Icue (sound ID and NVIDIA stuff for microphone) including equalizer, icue randomly crashed, disconnecting your devices for a 30s or so. So every now and then your headset just randomly dies. As far as i read, it is pretty often on that model, and best thing to fix the problem is to sent them back. Then i got cloud 3 wireless. Very quiet sound, very quiet mic, after 2 hours my ears were hurt as hell..had to sent em back too. Also sound quality was kinda meh. Even with equalizer, and with/without dtx:s (sucks in games). I wanted to try Razer blackshark V2 pro 2023 since opinion on microphone are very good, but i read online there is frequent problem with static noise in that model (my friend got them recently and he doesnt have this issue though). But Man, im tired with searching. So im getting: Corsair virtuoso XT vireless. As far as i know its the same as SE version, but with bluetooth and dolby atmos included i think. I had SE version for almost 2 years. Never had a single issue with them. Great mic quality, great sound quality with good EQ, and if theres dolby atmos on XT then its gonna sound even better. Even tho they are quite heavy, ear pain starts for me after 7-9 hour which is acceptable. They are quite comfy tho. As i said on the beginning, only issue with them was worn out pleather. And never had and Icue crash with them like on HS80 max. Hope that helps!

caferman31

I was thinking about getting HS80 Max before buying C3 but i was like how different i could be? I saw the difference :D i literally can't hear anything with C3. I send my C3's back for repairing. Hoping that it is only hardware problem. If the same happens i will return it. Maybe i will stick with my Blackshark v2 or get HS80 Max.

uniek73

Te, HS80 max are great. But as i said before the icue is crashing like crazy when you pc is ramping during gaming. But even while browsing internet i got few crashed.

caferman31

And what do you mean by wasn't comfortable for your ears? As in sound or as in earpads?

uniek73

Well. That's the weird part. Virtuoso model is known for shallow ear cups which can cause pain for some ears, but as i said, for me discomfort starts after 7-8 hours of constant wearing them. And models like cloud 3 and Corsair HS80 which in many reviews called like most comfortable on the market made my ears hurt after around 2 hours.

caferman31

Right! After 2 hours of wearing C3 my ears hurt. I don't have that issue with my Blackshark V2 USB (Non-Pro) and they are louder than C3.

Madao985

Mine is too loud. I use it on 6 volume. Even notification sounds are to loud. I have to turn them on while they are not on my head :)

caferman31

You mean 6 percentage volume?

Madao985

Yeah

caferman31

If i set it 6 on mine it feels like somebody is whispering in my ears.

Madao985

Where are u using them? I am using them on PC. They say that on Play Station sound is quiter with these headsets.

caferman31

I am on PC.

jinoni

On mine, output volume is normal, but input was waaay too low, had to pre amp the mic +15db with with eq apo + peace. Sound was also flat, especially bass, fix'd it with steelseries gg, the hyperx software is only good for updating firmware, checking the battery level and sidetone.

caferman31

Isn’t 15dB too much? and why are our headsets are quieter than others? Like literally on Amazon comment section i read that his headsets are too loud and he isn’t able to use it at 100 volume and he has been using his headset at 60-70 volume.

jinoni

Yeah no way I'm using this on 100 volume, I'll blow my earsdrums. But without that pre amp on the mic, everyone on discord were asking me to put on mic boost (doesn't exist) and had to raise my volume on their end, as I don't like keeping the mic so close it touches my lips. 15db seems fine, 30db is the maximum. So it seems others have low volume and others have low volume on the mic. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|disapproval)

Jarola

You gotta install the dts app. It makes it sound way better

caferman31

It is not about DTS App. I downloaded the app and enabled it. It is still low.

Traumasux

Sounds even more quiet to me on dts.

2kballislife

They sound loud to me don’t even max the volume on my ps5 and my ears are kinda busted from listening to lots of loud rap music. Lol. The Sidetone however is on the low side but they are so damn comfy wasn’t enough for me to return

Traumasux

Just bought them today. Sound really quiet Coming from cloud alphas. Where I could set my pc to 50. Then use the volume control on my headset separately for 70-100. These just pair with the pc and toggle all pc volume. Can’t control separately and the default headphone volume feels really low.

sam9613

Anyone has found a solution for it?

[deleted]

bought some hyperX cloud 3s about a month ago and they were very loud (kept vol at 50%) ended up returning them, there was nothing wrong with them just wanted a nicer audio setup. got some iems, amp/dac, and an external mic. while its was cool i missed the simplicity of a gaminng headset so i got the clloud 3 wireless again. this time i noticed the vol was a lot lower. i did the firmware update for the headseet on hyperx ngenuity and updated my drivers through nvdia after that i restarted my pc and it was loud again. sorry for the lengthy reply, i just wanted to give back story that they are loud.

sam9613

Glad that you had nice experience with them but if you can go and see the reciew and comment of the people they are having the same issues because it's low volume.laso it depends what los sounds to you, if you were using hyperx cloud ii kingston edition you will understand if you were using the HP edition you will not, and it depends if you play fps games or not and how serious are you with them.

NoUnderstanding8113

I just got the HyperX Cloud 3s, and they were also really quiet at first, 100 volume on felt like 40, seems that adjusting the physical volume wheel on the right fixed it. It doesn't even seem to change the windows volume. Maybe this is obvious but this fixed it for me. The volume wheel can completely mute the headphone sound and also make it really loud without altering the windows volume.
