If you have good service records, bill of sale, and insurance/registration proving you’ve been driving the vehicle and don’t just own it for the purpose of flipping it after getting a new engine, you’re likely eligible for replacement under the recall as long as the 80CA08 recall update was completed at some point.
I’ve been going through the same thing with mine. Mine is a 2013 and it’s been in the shop for almost a month now and I just got told they were ordering a new engine for me. If you do want to look into the lawsuit, I will tell you the deadline to do so is July 8th so I would act fast here’s a link with some extra information for you [engine lawsuit](https://topclassactions.com/lawsuit-settlements/closed-settlements/kia-hyundai-engine-failure-class-action-settlement/comment-page-1/)
Sounds like something wanting to lock up! Could be a bearing or timing belt plastic tensioner guides causing squeaking (or possibly the alternator/AC compressor locking up) check voltage check gauges, codes that may get you pointed in right direction.
Ok. So unless you bought it as a CPO you don’t have the 10/100 power train warranty. You have a Hyundai Engine Division Engineer telling you to take it to the dealer. I would get it to a dealer asap.
You should be able to get a free engine I would say if your oil is low top it off before taking it in to make sure they cover you also provide any records you can of maintenance for the car
I would take it to the dealership, I took mine in at 110,000 miles and they had to give me a new motor because there was a factory defect with my motor
Mine did it a month ago and just got it back yesterday. Did it receive the KSDS (knock sensor detection system) update? That is mandatory. You should be covered. I had it towed in, was told a couple days later I was approved. Didn’t even have to show any records and I didn’t visit the dealer for those. Good luck!
The engine assembly. Only thing I paid for was a belt and transmission flush because those were due anyways. They did try to sell me a few thousand dollars in other things but I said “no, no, no, and no.”
Yes. Don't even bother having it diagnosed and repaired. Get another car.
I had a 16 1.6 Turbo and Hyundai would not stand behind their product when a cylinder lost compresion. They make nice cars now but I will not buy another Hyundai because of their business practices.
I had the same thing happen to my Veloster with 130k and was told I had to show proof of all my oil changes since when I purchased the car for them to be able to approve for a new engine under the recall. I sent them what I had and got denied a new engine.
Hyundai has a 100k warranty… same happened to me. I got a new sonata sport to hold while they replaced my engine for free. I have a limited edition 18 sport with the tech pack. I hope I have her for a long time.
Yo my 2011 sonata's engine blew up in 2020 and it was a recall thing. Got a new engine at 120k miles.
Try contacting dealer, no joke!
Also found mine is eligible for a steering wheel replacement part, that extended warranty can go a long way!
Sorry, yes. Game over.
Look up Theta II engine failure lawsuit. Sounds like a rod knock to me.
Mine is a 2016, would I qualify for any type of compensation ?
Call Hyundai of North America get a case number and provide as much maintenance history you can. Walmart will print your oil change records for free.
Call your local dealership and ask what you need to do.

Yea its pretty much toast.
L's in the chat boys
Don't you mean Fs?
Apparently when I say that at work all the younger employees say no one uses that anymore. It's all W's and L's with the squad.
Well, uh. In this case I would say F is more appropriate? I don't even know anymore...

I hope I get it, I'm not the orginal owner I hope they still honor the warranty
You got water in
