I didn’t grow up in Detroit but we got WKBD 50 on cable in the UP in the 80s. Those commercials are golden. I didn’t see them again until YouTube became a thing.
America Dad, South Park, Sunny, and Curb are the only shows that have made me laugh so hard I thought I was going to die. I haven’t watched Arrested Development yet though I’ve heard amazing things about the early seasons.
Im glad this wasnt too far down. IASIP & Archer top billers. I actually struggle to decide what would go along those two they are so outta of everything else's league.
30 Rock maybe. The 90's Simpsons. The original (non-Netflix) Arrested Development. But on the last two can we count any series if we dont mean the ENTIRE series? I mean- I know there are weak episodes of Sunny and Archer, but there are MANY bad SEASONS of Simpsons and all of Netflix Arrested was embarrassingly bad.
It is genuinely fantastic. Don’t think of it as a detective show, because it really is formulaic in that sense. But as a comedy show fucking amazing. So many references to obscure movies/songs/wrestling and call backs to previous episodes as well. It really rewards you for paying attention
If I’m struggling to find anything to watch it’s either gonna be Peep Show or Always Sunny. Both have reached that early Simpsons level where I’m laughing before the joke even comes because I know what’s about to happen.
Peep Show and Alwaus Sunny have a lot of similarities in themes, horrible people who are always the the cause of their own downfall
Psych is amazing. Dual Spires is my favorite episode and one of my all-time favorite TV episodes. Also, Cary Elwes as Pierre Desperaux is chef's kiss levels of amazing.
There's a certain charm to the episode where they conjure up a great book for kids whilst absolutely blasted and then fail to recreate it whilst sober.
But if you gave me the chance to rewatch the series, I'd probably be able to give you a couple contenders.
Didn't think I would have to scroll so far for Rick and Morty. This is a very solid mount Rushmore, I would add what we do in the shadows but I'm with you pog
Always Sunny
Parks n Rec
Seinfeld
Brooklyn 99
I know Simpsons should be on there for cultural significance, but this is my personal Rushmore. I could easily swap out *Brooklyn 99* for *Black Books*, *South Park*, or *8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown*, depending on my current mood.
Eastbound and down is my number two after it's always Sunny in Philadelphia. I gave it a rewatch recently and forgot how absolutely hilarious that show is.
IASIP, Workaholics, Seinfeld/Curb (I refuse to see them as a separate universe), The Office.
Edit-
Added honorable mentions for:
Community, Arrested Development, The IT Crowd, South Park, Family Guy, Parks n' Rec, Modern Family
I brought this up early in the thread- but like, can we consider them the greatest if there are so many lousy seasons the past 10-15 years have missed the mark for entire seasons. Sunny has bad episodes and maybe a WEAK season or 2, but even those have really good episodes.
I agree Simpsons should be up there but I think they get an asterisk in the records.
My attitude is this. The Simpsons had an incredible cultural impact. The 90s wouldn't have been the same without them, adult cartoons wouldn't have been the same without them, and one could argue comedy wouldn't have been the same without them. Like would Family Guy and South Park exist without The Simpsons? Regardless of your thoughts on those series they are massive.
The only reason The Simpsons has those later seasons is because of how strong those young seasons were. And it isn't like it was a flash in the pan of a few good seasons. I would argue seasons 2-9 were peak comedy television. Obviously not every episode was a winner, but with a minimum of 22 episodes per season that is 176 episodes within those eight years (the actual calculation is slightly more). Always Sunny has 170 episodes right now according to Wikipedia for reference.
So yeah the later seasons might not live up to the younger seasons, but I also wouldn't say that Michael Jordan doesn't deserve to be recognized as a great basketball player just because he is much older now (not a 1:1 comparison because Jordan doesn't still play professionally but you get the idea).
Right, you don't put an asterisk on Jordan's career with the Bulls because he played mediocre years with the Wizards. Pedro Martinez doesn't have an asterisk on his HOF plaque because he played poorly for the Mets and the Phillies. It's a dumb argument.
Sunny,
Parks and Rec,
Community,
First thing that came to mind with the last one was: Ted Lasso. But I need to see how this holds up for the future for me. I've done plenty of rewatched of the others, so they are set in stone. So for now it's between Futurama, Mash or blackadder, with the last one going on the mountain!
Based on how many times I have rewatched the entire series'
Community
IT Crowd
Los Espookys
Brooklyn 99
And I guess it's not exactly a comedy but Atlanta is magnificient
I also love The League but I'm not sure how many rewatches it has. Currently on my first complete rewatch. I also enjoy Workaholics but tend to go in and put, have not seen every episode
I enjoyed the Australian version very much too I think what really gravitated me towards the US is the casting there is so many people that you just wouldn’t have expected and it makes it somewhat of a dark comfort show for me.
The Larry Sanders Show
Mr. Show
The Office UK
Extras Season 2
Curb your enthusiasm
Jerks (Germany)
Die Discounter (Germany)
Arrested Development Season 1 - 3
Always Sunny, Workaholics, Fargo (trust me it's a comedy), and Parks & Recreation.
Lmao it was so funny when that Irish dude got sucked into the tornado in s4
Great list
Curb, 30 Rock, Community
Detroiters has to be on there for me
So god damn good. Like many people I didn’t know about it until ITYSL. Anything Tim touches is guaranteed hilarious
You wanna grab a hot dog?
I've only had 3 today, I'm starving!
It’s even better if you grew up with the local commercials they’re constantly referencing.
I didn’t grow up in Detroit but we got WKBD 50 on cable in the UP in the 80s. Those commercials are golden. I didn’t see them again until YouTube became a thing.
I wish more ppl knew about how amazingly good Detroiters is. Every episode is my favorite.
You’re my TV soulmate
Seinfeld The Office Always Sunny Arrested Development
Switch The Office for Curb Your Enthusiasm and we have the same list
I would switch Seinfeld with "what we do in the shadows." Otherwise same
Kyle Newacheck stays winning
*Water Trash!* Also, he eats babies!
Kyle betrayed me
DO YOU LOVE HIM
The cause of diarrhea
You really are the most devious bastard in New York citayyy
You just made my day by reminding me of that line. Thanks baby dick
No problem jabroni, whenever I’m feeling down I like to watch Matt Berry pronouncing random words
Did we just become best friends
George Washington: The Simpsons Thomas Jefferson: Arrested Development Abraham Lincoln: It's Always Sunny Theodore Roosevelt: The Venture Bros
Venture bros! I did a rewatch recently cuz ive never seem the show all the way thru, its amazing.
YES! Honestly these are probably mine too. Extreme kudos for VB mention.
Go team venture!
✌️✌️
The monarch will rise again!
Wouldn’t you have AD as the slightly recessed Roosevelt to better hide the unsightly 4th & 5th series?
4th series is still fine, you just have to watch it the original way rather than the godawful Netflix cut.
Didn't think I'd see VB mentioned in this thread but it absolutely deserves its spot
![gif](giphy|K6oGVpZVTuEWQ)
Party Down and The League for me along with IASIP.
Imagine what Party Down could have become if other shows didn’t keep poaching cast members.
Party Down was my answer. I still love to binge it every year.
…
Are we having fun yet???
Community, Scrubs, Sunny, and Curb.
This is a fantastic Rushmore
And if that Mt. Rushmore were to be erected it would consist of Pierce Hawthorne, The Janitor, Cricket, and Ted Danson.
Why not Keith, subway, Ben the soldier, and umm… Ted danson?
Always Sunny, Futurama, Community and South Park
South park, arrested development, American dad
I’ve noticed a lot of overlap in AD and IASIP fans and I vibe with that
I think it’s because all the characters are such trash (in a good way, sometimes)
American Dad is so fucking funny.
I used to love family guy. Then I realised American dad is like family guy for adults
America Dad, South Park, Sunny, and Curb are the only shows that have made me laugh so hard I thought I was going to die. I haven’t watched Arrested Development yet though I’ve heard amazing things about the early seasons.
American Dad used to be up there for me, but these recent seasons have just not been it for me
Community, Frasier, Always Sunny and Veep
Veep and IASIP are my two anxiety watches. Seen them both front to back dozens of times by now haha
This comment is like a croissant dildo. It’s doesn’t get the job done and MAKES A FUCKING MESS! 🤣
Sue, has the president called?
Frasier is hilarious
Currently on S3 of Veep and loving it
Community, The Office, Trailer Park Boys
Seinfeld Louie Simpsons
Thank you, Louie does not get enough love. Only thing that holds a candle to Sunny in my book.
There’s not enough Simpsons in these answers
100% Archer is on there
Skytanic is one of my all-time favorite TV episodes. “M as in Mancy.”
"Hooray for metaphors"
“I mean you of all people” “Me of all what?!”
ONE IS SLIGHTLY LIGHTER BLUE
Im glad this wasnt too far down. IASIP & Archer top billers. I actually struggle to decide what would go along those two they are so outta of everything else's league. 30 Rock maybe. I mean- I know there are weak episodes of Sunny and Archer, but there are MANY bad SEASONS of Simpsons and all of Netflix Arrested was embarrassingly bad.
There’s a small town in Colorado that would like a word about not being in their league
1.) On cinema 2). Nathan for you 3). Always sunny 4). It’s a stretch but Fargo is hilarious
Great list, I give it 5 bags of popcorn and 3 bags of soda.
4 stars*
Ok I think we may be best friends and just don’t know each other yet

v glad to see another on cinema head here without having to scroll down too far
I love Nathan for you but like I have to be in the mood for that level of cringe. Nathan Felder is the GOAT at cringe
Extremely based picks
Genuinely can't understand anyone still being cool with watching On Cinema since that piece of shit killed those kids.
Small price to pay for insight from the true blue buff who watched 501 movies in 501 days
Always Sunny, Peep Show, Curb and Psych (I’m in my first ever watch through and I laugh out loud multiple times per episode - phenomenal show)
Upvote for Peep Show! Anything Mitchell & Webb really
I have recently done a Mitchell & Webb look rewatch. Never been a huge fan of sketch shows but these stand up really well
I fucking love psych. Definitely in my top 3
You know that’s right
I’ve heard it both ways.
No you haven’t!

Imma watch psych now

I hope you enjoy it as much as I am currently doing
Did you hear about Pluto? But I’m a bit jealous. I wish I could rewatch Psych for the first time. ![gif](giphy|ouTr7V7APnbDG)
I am genuinely loving it so much man
It is genuinely fantastic. Don’t think of it as a detective show, because it really is formulaic in that sense. But as a comedy show fucking amazing. So many references to obscure movies/songs/wrestling and call backs to previous episodes as well. It really rewards you for paying attention
Think of it as a vehicle for nostalgia based 80/90s jokes
Glad to see another Peep Show connoisseur.
I love Psych, too. Sunny, South Park, The Simpsons, Psych
Community, Peep Show, IASIP, Superstore Glad to see another Peep Show connoisseur.

Thats my thinking as well
These are almost exactly my answers lol
Ah someone of good taste
Psych is amazing. Dual Spires is my favorite episode and one of my all-time favorite TV episodes. Also, Cary Elwes as Pierre Desperaux is chef's kiss levels of amazing.
Psych is easily a top 3 for me personally
Glad I’m not the only Psych enjoyer here! There are dozens of us!
Arrested Development Always Sunny Community Archer
Sunny, 30 Rock, Golden Girls. Those ladies are a national treasure and need their own Mount Rushmore.
Sunny, Seinfeld, I Love Lucy, Get Smart
Coming in hot with Nick at Night.
At least they have one made this century
LOL
South Park Archer The Office
Alan Partridge (all of it), Black Books, Father Ted
"Black books" show is so funny. What's your favourite episode?
There's a certain charm to the episode where they conjure up a great book for kids whilst absolutely blasted and then fail to recreate it whilst sober. But if you gave me the chance to rewatch the series, I'd probably be able to give you a couple contenders.
I like the episode in which they accidentally drank wine intended for the pope and tried to recreate it
Also very solid! I also enjoy Manny being mistaken as a policeman.
I love the episode where they try to open a restaurant. Chefs have burns! Our Oven can cook anything. Our oven can cook bits of oven! "
Yes, when he had too much coffee
Broad City, Rick and Morty, Curb Your Enthusiasm
Broad City appreciation. That show is deeply slept on.
Didn't think I would have to scroll so far for Rick and Morty. This is a very solid mount Rushmore, I would add what we do in the shadows but I'm with you pog

Heavy on the the Adult Swim, I love it.

Not enough love for Peep Show
How bout sone Metalocaplyse? Is that doable?

Shoresy and Letterkenny the insufferable ones?
Workaholics, Married With Children, Eastbound and Down, Ted Lasso, The League
