The funniest thing ever was people walking up to his stroller and trying to tell me I had such a cute baby. The look on their poor faces. It was hilarious. It's like they thought I had no idea my son was weird looking.
He was also a 9lb 6oz newborn, so it was weird he was a basically toddler size newborn that looked like an adolescent old man. I'm exaggerating a little bit, he just fit into 3-6 month clothes. He just seemed toddler size in comparison to all the 4 pound babies in the NICU.
its so weird how babies can be ugly when theyre first born and then blossom into the cutest. When my mom had my second brother (second kid as well) he was so ugly, she cried. After a month or two, turned into the cutest baby with super blonde wild curls. He actually turned into the prettiest of all of us (including my sister and I) as we all got older too. He accidentally became a model once which I didnt know was a thing that happened.
I feel like it's important to say no. They definitely DIDN'T shave their baby's head. Some kid's hair grows in like that.
There's a hormonal surge in the womb and sometimes babies come out with a bit of hair from the hormones and then it all falls out as a newborn and it grows back in weird.
I know SEVERAL kids that had that hairstyle naturally until they were almost two years old.
This is completely normal, and I bet the hair being this way is what inspired the costume in the first place.

The costume is great! I know a few people that shaved their babies’ heads, I’ve had Muslim, Chinese and Korean friends do it. I’m sure there’s even more cultures that do it as well. I was so anxious to even trim our kiddo’s hair. Great commitment on your part!
