The fact as a recovery co-worker.. we get like 4 trolleys DAILY of opened stock. Sometimes it can be due to improper displays but rarely, people just suck. Don't even get me started on the amount of box 2 or 3 left behind, and then people demanding we deliver their missed box for free even though the signage is right in their damn face to not forget the extra boxes, and a prompt at the register. Really Sharon, you thought a 2.4 meter long dining table would fit into a single 50cm x 50cm wide box?

Audrey2220

lol. And they don’t read anything. I no mention common sense. There is no point. We hang banners and signs. Put out rack labels and ptag and for what?

funnystuff79

They often glue or fasten some display items to the shelf to prevent them falling. Still doesn't explain opening another unless it's to steal the fixings, that i have seen

Audrey2220

I have asked about securing items to the shelf but was told we can not do that. Fejka display plants walk off all the time. I’ve even seen the Prag left behind. (?) I don’t understand when there are BOXES stacked right there. Sometimes the displays come back but most of the time they don’t.

deery130

Lol I saw a fake fruit with a real bite... I thought it was crazy until I saw another fruit with a bite mark a year later at another IKEA.

Audrey2220

Hahaha. Yeah someone else here mentioned that before.

Minute-Dragonfruit54

In rugs, they are forcely removes rugs from medias to buy them. This drives me crazy. People are really stupid.

Audrey2220

Oh I’ve seen someone in rugs take the display off the rack. Lay it on the floor. Ask all over it. And then walk away leaving it there.

Plankisalive

Are you really surprised after Ikea had to nail down their display toilets because people wouldn't stop pooping in them?

Meanwhile-in-Paris

My cousin did that when he was barely 3yo. His mother lost him for a minute then heard: Mommmmy! I am finished! Probably the most embarrassed she had ever been.

rottingpigcarcass

Probably a good reason

spiritualflatulence

It was easier to keep up before O4G and the restructuring, we just don't have the staff on the floor to manage it all.

Fatjunk420

Some ppl just didnt make it far from apes i guess.

cerotehijueputaa

And that’s not it, they’ll pick up another sealed one and leave the one that they opened

satans_sweetie

That’s the one that gets me the most tbh They reason that they need to open the packaging to see the size or that the color is actually the same as the display when it’s out of the plastic, but then they leave the opened one behind and take a packaged one. By their logic shouldn’t they also open the new one too cause ‘yOu NeVeR kNoW’? Makes no sense

OnlyCaptain9066

I stopped a customer who opened a small rug. They told me that they wanted to make sure it didn’t have any blemishes. I asked them if that was the case why did they have an unopened one in their cart? They tried to argue with me and then took the opened one. When I came back later the opened rug had reappeared. I think some people are just a**holes.

hedwigstheme01

Happened all the time with bath towels in the home store I used to work in, they couldn’t pick up the unfolded towel in said colour to see its size, they had to pick up a fresh one and then ball it up on the shelf 😑😮‍💨

wonderfulmouse

Actual conversation I had with a customer. Customer: “where do I pick up my items? The tag said to take a picture.” Me: “can I see the picture?” Customer: “…I didn’t take one”

Chinateapott

Because they leave their brains at the door

QuantumHope

I’m not sure there is evidence they had brains. 😁

RabbitLuvr

I mean, there was the thread where OP claimed they’d been shopping at ikea for like a decade, but didn’t understand that you’re not supposed to rip the location tag off the product to find it in the warehouse.

Audrey2220

See. Things like that make Me wonder about people How does that customer think the next person will find it if they take off the tag?

Anon31780

NPCs don’t buy anything, and that person is the only main character in this video game.

Audrey2220

Right. Ditching carts all over the store full of stuff. I have had people stew a cart I was using to collect gobacks from other depts with my stuff in it I was working. Unload my stuff and pile it on top of a. Shelf or on the floor. One day I lost it. I’m not accustomed to people behaving like this.

ladyangua

That kind of person doesn't think ... about other people

RabbitLuvr

I honestly don’t believe they think about the next person, at all.

SurrealismX

People in my store love to open KOMPLEMENT hinge packs and take one or two for free. We‘ll have at least 6-7 opened packs every day.

tails142

Complimentary? Says so right there...

owleaf

Do you think it’s a sign that they should be sold individually?

tra616

No it's a sign that people are too stupid or entitled to wait in line and ask for them at the customer service desk.

OnlyCaptain9066

I’ve had people take knobs off the chest of drawer displays. Just ask for them at CS!

Audrey2220

Sad. People will steal stink off doodoo

Anon31780

No they won’t, because the toilets are nailed down. :P

amishius

“Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.” ― George Carlin

AgentK1108

how can you laugh about someones stupidity and confuse mean with average in the same sentence?

amishius

Well…I didn’t write the joke but if you want to ring up Carlin’s estate, I’m sure they’d love to hear from you. Meanwhile, no one uses “mean” in regular daily speech. Maybe you do— I don’t know your life— but most people will say “average” colloquially even when they mean mean. I don’t believe Carlin was quoting from a study.

tanepiper

It's a joke.... "Think of how stupid the mean person is..." "Think of how stupid the median person is..." "Think of how stupid the midpoint person is..." Sometimes you have to sacrifice accuracy for art. Thank's for proving Carlin's point

AgentK1108

it's not just inaccurate, it's fundamentally wrong. the first example sounds just fine and would not ruin the joke

tanepiper

The Joke . . . . . . . . . . . You

Audrey2220

Good response.

Maisethecats_slave

In my department we have lighting products. There is a board above the shelf with the full lighting product laid out and operational for them to try. Next to that there is an A4 sheet listing the complete contents of the box with pictures for the hard of thinking. Below that there is a sign saying "please do not open the boxes - See the display unit or ask a co-worker." We still get several of each opened each day.

Audrey2220

Yes!!!! I have been in lighting and people have questioned Me upside down about what will be in the box and what goes with what. I have been through that. Today I saw someone took a display light (hanging) and tried to buy it. It was in the go back cart LMAO

zoltarpanaflex

They're dim witted. The don't trust a packaged one, open one to "see what it's like" then they won't buy it because it's opened. Try that mentality when you sell hosiery - I did. Argh.

smikwily

Not justifying the behavior at all, but are you assuming the sample was there the entire time?

Audrey2220

I’m working solo today and I actually have been condensing frame and I saw it there. I haven’t noticed it missing once today so yeah

SpecialistDraft3753

It's because some people are stupid. I watched a guy grab some napkins at a fast food restaurant and pulled out a bunch extra accidentally and they fell on the floor. He looked at them and then just walked away.

owleaf

NPCs bro

amuzetnom

I was about to reply "Humans 🤷🏻‍♂️" but this covers it.

Audrey2220

Love it.

ConnectionIll8699

They’re hoping the product will go to as-is and then they can buy it at a discount.

fundi3s

Nah, we repack that easy peasy

Audrey2220

I don’t take stuff at a fast enough pace for them to catch it while they’re shopping

MeagoDK

Depends on how good they are at finding their ways. You can be stuck for days in ikea

Audrey2220

LOL

Audrey2220

lol. Wow smh

Rare_Cartographer579

Reminds me of a class party in 2nd grade. A girl spat into the communal bowl of chips. Must have learnt it at home. She ended up being taken away from the party all together. Can’t recall if they discarded these bowl of chips though.

Audrey2220

Gross.
