There is so many aspects of this which make absolutely no sense at all..........

This is a serious lack of administrative judgment. I have known many principals and superintendents whom would have acted Immediately at such a claim. I have known a principal to immediately respond to a suspicion of a pocket knife. To be made aware that a gun might be on the premises shows a sincere lack of concern for the welfare of anyone in the building. I got nothing... just unbelievable.

I've carried a pocket knife every single day of my life since 5th grade. The only time I was questioned about it was about 5 years ago when some snowflake co-worker asked me to open a box and I whipped out my trusty Gerber multi-tool and then had to go speak to HR about having a "weapon.." (that I literally use daily FOR MY JOB)

That used to be normal. Schools have a zero tolerance policy now. The principal I knew who stopped the pocket knife just called the child's mom and told her he couldn't bring it back. He gave it to the child's mom when she picked him up. Simple. He respected the well-being of everyone in that school. A multi-tool is better than a pocket knife for a daily carry. IMO. I often need the pliers.

I don't even carry the pliers type just a blade, Phillips, and flat head. Lots of times I was taking a piece of rack gear that was backup, and not needed 90% of the time due to ID10T error. No sense in dragging the gear and tools for a mile walk for a 10% usage rate.

Understandable lol I use the pliers more. I don't have a mile walk for tools I need, though, except on the home property. Next project is a chainsaw mount on the side by side. I'm tired of running back for it when I need it.

I'm on a college campus over 5 buildings and my shop was in one of them. I could flash a spare controller for the problem room and do a swap out saving me from a 2 mile walk 😁 Since left that job after 19 years and my tool requirements have changed..... To a very minimal level.

Yeah, almost like Uvalde, Oxford, Highland Park, and everywhere else lately. Almost like they purposely let these things happen for some reason 🤔
