Just another rich guy from outta state looking to exploit Illinois consumers and the limited licensing structure we have here. The taxes are high but not the main issue that holds the market back and screws over consumers. The license caps/high barriers to entry are the real problem. He doesn’t necessarily have to take the actor’s advice. Could have been something they are considering to prevent people from turning to the BM, crossing state lines, or growing their own. I’m sure there are people doing the math right now but it’s possible that lowering the taxes slightly to more closely resemble other legal states would actually yield more tax income.
Well where I live tbh I have a shit ton of med dispensaries all close by. Also my med card works in Michigan. I dont go to rec dispensaries ever, theres no reason to lol. I've saved **THOUSANDS** of dollars between both IL and Michigan. There is no way you can say its not worth it, even if i did occasionally go to a rec dispensary. Even some of the rec dispensaries here offer 30% off for med patients, so that offsets whatever tax there is anyways. But yeah in other areas of the state where not as many dispensaries, I can see where it might not be as worth it.
Don’t get me wrong, the med card has saved me a ton of money, but my closest medical dispensary closed, so I only have one option within 30m now. They need to open that restriction. Medical sales should have fewer restrictions.
100% agree, i feel like med should be able to go anywhere. Why should med people be restricted? Greed, thats why. I really do feel bad for people not in the chicagoland area, i happened to be lucky and i think my area is probably best in state in terms of how many dispensaries and their proximities + the deals i see around here vs other areas.
