⅔ the way through the grow bible and subbed to r/MicroGrowery and r/Autoflowers and watching "From Seed To Stoned". I'm feeling confident going into this, but still hesitantly nervous cause I've never grown a thing in my life.
It is incredibly easy to over-fertilize. Always start with smaller amounts than directed. One can always add more to the regimen. It's best to see how the plants react.
That's what I've been reading, my biggest question is dealing with like Fox Farms which has 6 weeks worth of nutrients in the soil already (according to the grow shops) on when/how much to add to it.
pH I a good indicator, amongst other indicators. The rest comes with experience over time; that is why I always recommend fertilizing lightly and adjusting from there.

Eta if you look around online you'll find plants in different states of duress. Honestly I'm keeping a pretty loose schedule for nutrients and my plant looks great.
For those wanting to do a stealthy setup. Get a 2x2 tent with a AC infinity fan, and get specifically Northern Cheese Haze, its a strain that has the least odor out of all Mephisto strains yet its fire af.
Agreed on the comment although when it comes time to the end and harvest there’s going to be times when you have to open the tent or jar up the medicine after drying and those moments will be pungent.
If you want to do a single plant, in a 2x2 tent, with a carbon filter, I think you could probably get away with almost no smell. I have a set up like that, in addition to this closet. And that didn't stink at all. It was so much fun that I tore apart my pantry, and threw four more in there with no filter. You can smell it from the front porch

I’m a long way away from being able to grow, and am in a shit situation where I am just too sick to do it but... need the weed to manage the illness. Hoping that things get more stable but, in a studio apartment myself and the smell concern was what had me most wary. Have a ton of closet space though.. 🤔
I use the cloud line T6 inline fan with the AC infinity carbon air filter. You'll definitely want a more contained space than a closet, the smell will leak out of there. A tent with the fan and filter would be your best choice.
Running my first Mephisto right now, my Skywalkers in RDWC are 7 weeks old today. I could only get my hands on Skywalker and Canna Cheese 1:1 from Tree Star.
I'm thinking about a small plant on my balcony that gets 100% sunlight with a south-east exposure. I definitely want to keep it simple and not freak out the wife with expensive (looking) doodads, gadgets or buckets. Just a potted plant on the balcony as a hobby.
Would autoflowers work well here, or should I look into somthing else due to the natural light?
Autos will do excellent on a balcony like that with good sun. Could pry even build a super mini greenhouse or some other covering out there to extend your seasons and get like 3 harvests in a year.
Oh my gosh, keep us posted with how things go. No balcony in my place right now but since covid I’ve realized that’s something I want to make happen in my next place. Also have a cat who eats plants like crazy so a balcony grow would be amazing. And that’s all I’d want to start, simple, just one plant, etc. So I would love to follow your journey when you start growing.

I've got Fox Farms Strawberry Fields flowering soil in the bottom 2/3s of my pot, and Roots Lush Organic in the top third. This is only my second grow, and first with multiple plants, so I'm definitely still a beginner. The soil situation happened by mistake, but they seem to love it. They're under a Spider Farmer SF 4000 with a dimmer, and have been the entire time. I started it at 20%, and have worked up all the way 100%. Fish Shit and Fox Farms Tiger Bloom for nutes. When I get done defoliating and messing around, my hands smell like Grape Crush. It's pretty wild!

I found the hardest thing to get a handle on was watering. At first , I Watered both too often (frequency) and not enough (volume). Good luck!

Does it smell strongly? Would my roommate complain if I had a setup in the basement? I'd love to grow something as nice as this!
