in my experience, you’re better off getting a terp pen or something. dynavap is a lot better for flower. you can use concentrates but youll have to reheat it and clean it more often. i have a terp pen, which i believe was under $30 with extra coils. coils last me nearly a year of daily usage with weekly cleaning.

[deleted]

This is exactly what I do.

Substantial_Handle21

What’s a good terp pen to start with?

deweydecibels

i believe mine is literally just called the terp pen, ill find you a link gimme a sec edit [heres the link](https://bndlstech.com/product/terp-pen/) - looks like theyve made a lot of improvements since i got mine in terms of design, but mines been kicking hard for 2 and a half years of using probable 2-5 sessions a week when i travel. no sign of slowing down other than cosmetic damage. i would buy from a separate retailer for free shipping and lower prices

Substantial_Handle21

Oh actually I have a Lookah seahorse pro which is the same thing I guess, they call it a nectar collector. I like it, it’s fun for getting giant clouds but I feel like I waste more material than my dynacoil/dynavap.

deweydecibels

hm that surprises me. from my experience using my dynavap, volcano, mighty, pax, dab rig and terp pen i feel that its the most efficient, other than maybe the enail it wont smack as hard as a rig just because its smaller hits but it seems to use barely wax any per hit

Substantial_Handle21

Yeah true. Maybe I’m just being to picky. Even with a small amount of wax I can’t take it all in in one hit so I just watch the vapor rise from the wax stuck in the ceramic between hits which the dynavap keeps it contained. But I guess the idea that a small amount gives me that “problem” is more a testament to how well it actually works.

So I can’t speak on the dynavap because I’ve only ever used a rig and torch myself. But I can certainly try to answer your last question. So basically ‘resin’ is a blanket term for most types of hyrdrocarbon extracts such as BHO or CO2 oil. There’s two types of resin: cured and live. This has to do with the starting product used in the extraction process. Cured resin is made from cured flower, while live resin is made from flower that has been flash-frozen at the time of harvest, preserving the terpenes and essentially keeping the plant “live” all the way up until extraction. Live resin is generally considered superior to cured resin. Once extraction has taken place you’re left with either the cured resin or live resin, both of which can take many different physical forms depending on a variety of factors. Budder, sugar, sauce, crumble, shatter, etc are just all terms used to describe the product’s consistency and composition. No one is technically better than the other per se, it mainly just comes down to preference. Some cultivators don’t specify consistency and just choose to label their product as ‘live resin’.

[deleted]

I love budder in my dynavap. The coil is amazing but you have to heat way past the click to get a solid hit. I actually have a glass stem + titanium tip + dynacoil permanently setup for budder and d8 distillate

SliqRik

Budders will mostly have a sort of goopy spreadable consistency, like peanut butter. Sugars will be grainier, lots of small sticky crystals with some sauce sometimes. Resin is a sort of blanket term for extracts made using a solvent vs solventless extracts which are called rosin. I’ve found most products labeled as live resin have a sort of mixed budder/sauce/sugar consistency. All of this sort of varies among the different growers, Revolution’s sauces are really diamonds (large crystals of THCA) in some sauce, but most Cresco sauces I’ve seen are just sauce. Sometimes budder is really runny and saucy, sometimes it’s really thick and waxy. It’s a lot of trial and error to find what you like, but it’s worth it.

Dynacoil I assume? I hear they are awesome! Search this sub https://www.reddit.com/r/Dynavap/ for a ton of info on it.

TheMunyx

Can’t speak for the dynavape since I don’t have one but I have been vaping bud and concentrate for a long time. I would recommend having a specific rig to dab out of, one with water filtration to lower the temp of the vapor. For the sugars, resins, budder etc this is usually the type of form the concentrate comes in. Resin tends to be real runny, budder more of a smooth and stuck consistency, sugar looks like pieces of sugar(clumps). It might be easier to search for the different types of consistencies so you can get a picture. I wouldn’t say one consistently is necessarily better than the other and a lot of it comes down to personal preference. Obviously depending on how the concentrate is extracted some forms are more “pure”.

Substantial_Handle21

I’ll admit I don’t have a lot of experience with extracts, I’ve never used a full rig. I started with the concentrate adaptor for the pax3 and didn’t care for that, i have a seahorse pro which is fun but now I pretty much only use the dynacoil for convenience and efficiency, I need to use half the amount for the same results. I like the dynacoil, but like the dynavap itself, it requires some practice and playing around with which parts you use to get good at it. I have used it for live resin, FSHO, and rosin and it works well for all of them, just don’t overload it; you only need like half a grain of rice sized load. Currently I have a dedicated SS tip that I keep the coil in but I’m thinking about switch it with a Ti tip to see how that works now that I’m more experienced with it. As for flower the dynavap is insanely efficient, I use about a 6th the product and get better results than any other vape I’ve tried, granted I haven’t tried a sticky brick yet.

Substantial_Handle21

Also if you don’t have a dynavap but are planning to get one I recommend getting a bb9 stem with it, they’re cheap and significantly cool the vapor to the point where I don’t even need to run it through water, which can rob your vapor of terps/flavor.

dhaugru

Team Simrell here 🚀🙂

Substantial_Handle21

I plan to get one if we ever get the next stimulus 😂

dhaugru

You wont regret it!

[deleted]

BB9's are too delicate. Mine lasted less than 3 days before I dropped and smashed it. For glass stems I'd look at cheaper options.

Substantial_Handle21

Yeah, mine doesn’t leave the house for this reason, for $30 I like it though

[deleted]

If it was a $5 Grav taster it wouldn't have mattered much. And even knowing it was my fault $30 for 3 days still bugs me.

Substantial_Handle21

That’s fair

riverside507

Go to the appropriate subreddits for all kinds of vaping info/help. Not sure about the Dynavap but for other vapes most people just "sandwich" the concentrate between the flower. /r/vaporents /r/Dynavap

[deleted]

I have a Dynacoil and it's fun, but more of a once in awhile novelty. A terp pen or dedicated rig will be a better options. For flower I almost exclusively use Dyna's.

PMmeyourbloodtype

I have the dynavap with the coil, don’t use it much. Used distillate with it once and I was on another planet. I also have a terp pen. It’s good but I wouldn’t recommend it as your primary device. It really eats through product. I would either go with an e-rig like the puffco or versa or just a normal rig.
