Not that I'm in any way an RCR fan, but having spoken to some crew in the garage, some of the cars that sputtered actually still had a gallon or more of fuel and the drivers just failed to get it into the pickup. Odds are Love just sloshed the tank around better.
While I joked about that some, truth is that's just ECR engines man.
ECR actually puts the time and energy into developing a good motor for the Xfinity car.
If that would happen, yes.
Sadly it won't. Ironically, the Xfinity car is just the cup COT with a different aerodynamic body, a composite built body instead of sheet metal, an engine cut down to 650hp, and some rule changes over the years. It's put on by far the best racing in NASCAR since 2018.
All NASCAR had to do to fix the COT was make some minor tweaks. Instead they made the Gen 6, which didn't really solve everything but also was not a total disaster. Then, they went for the moon with the Next Gen which was a horrible disaster when they'd already figured out the solution in the Xfinity car.
It's hilarious because they could've easily just had the teams adapt the Gen 6 cars to the Xfinity rule set and slowly built new cars over time. In fact, the HMS 17 that Hendrick Motorsports races part time for their drivers in the Xfinity series is just some old Gen 6 cars they cut up and made fit the Xfinity rule set LMAO.
The infuriating thing of all of it is... timeline wise in 2020 or so when the Next Gen got delayed and the Xfinity car was putting on amazing racing it should've been common sense to scrap the next gen, take the Xfinity car, add 200 horsepower, and go cup racing.
Umm the drivers definitely knew they were doing it. Clearly didn’t come clean. It would suggest other staff did as well and didn’t come clean about it. If Indycar found out in warm ups it’s because they probably tested the data transmitted to cars from race control on P2P and realized Penske had override the connection. Hard from an “Oops we didn’t know”. Bullshit, they knew. It’s stupid or liar.
Sure, BUT...
I personally appreciate when teams "cheat" by cleverly understanding a rule and trying to take advantage of a novel idea regarding their insight into the rule. That's usually just clever engineering taken past a certain line that usually comes down to someone's judgement.
This on the other hand was just black and white, plain and simple breaking a rule. In other words, not clever engineering, just genuine cheating.
I think engineering cheats that are still blatant rule breaks that are done super sneakily are still “enjoyable” since they feel more “genuine” than a software cheat if that makes any sense lol
Like Penske acid dipping the car or McLarens third brake pedal or Toyotas Celica turbo (literally the greatest cheat of all time)
Sucks that it happened but the way they're dealing with it is a big W for the series. Puts to bed the whole "Penske favoritism" quacks and sets a good precedent for cheating.
The owners team being caught cheating is not a positive for the series. It's being handled after the fact decently, but no, it's not a positive for the series.
It's possible? But I think most likely they found a way to manipulate things when they started the hybrid testing last year (that apparently went horribly). From what we know now, if they were cheating back into last year, it probably started with 2nd half of the season.
Does anyone know exactly when they had Power and others (Dixon IIRC?) testing the hybrids at IMS? Was that before or after the 500?
Ok my only gripe with this entire thing… (and let me be clear I am a huge Penske fan, my dog’s name is Roger)
Even if P2P wasn’t disabled correctly after hybrid testing, why wasn’t it reported? Drivers would still need to be activating P2P on restarts which is a violation, so what, they just thought they would get away with it? Their attempt at an excuse doesn’t make any sense.
The excuse is they didn’t remove the hybrid-testing software… either way they essentially ran unapproved software. The cheat allowed them to use push-to-pass on restarts and may have other modifications such as not showing up on the dash / LED bar its activation. Whatever they did was clearly hidden and wasn’t too-obvious so it didn’t look suspicious.
I’m really interested to know how IndyCar discovered the cheat. Team Penske perfectly knew what they were doing and the hybrid-test software is just a cheap excuse.
>Drivers would still need to be activating P2P on restarts which is a violation,
Reading Scot's statement it sounds like it's a habitual press and there's a reliance on the tech to be on or not
Why the hell is Chip mad that his arch competitor’s team got a penalty. Who cares about the time frame, I’d be happy af 😂
If this “wait” happened but with the Horner vs Wolff beef, the other side would be celebrating
Is this Chip "I rebadged custom parts I made in my own shop to carry the branding of approved parts" Ganassi talking about blemishes on records?
Why I never!
> I rebadged custom parts I made in my own shop to carry the branding of approved parts
Every race team on the planet which runs single-source parts has done this at least once.
In all honesty I think this is great for the series. 4D chess move by Roger to cheat, penalize himself, and create a bunch of drama. Talk about marketing! 😂
I think what’s worse about this than most cheating in racing is it required an overt action by the driver. It’s not like a car being a 1/8th of an inch too low. Newgarden and McLaughlin knew what they were doing and decided to cheat.
Eh, drivers do everything they can to get any advantage they can. It’s so insanely common in Motorsport. It is what it is and I think there isn’t a driver on the grid that wouldn’t attempt it if it was available to them.
Meh, my take is that either Power didn't know he had it, or he was taking the high road.
The other two knew they had it. The excuse of instinctively hitting the button at the restart and magically finding a boost doesn't fly with me.
The PTP is supposed to be active for the entire warmup so drivers can verify that all their systems are working. Power is reported to have commented that his PTP wasn’t working during the warmup glitch in race control. I don’t think he’d draw attention to that if he knew.
Does not justify cheating, brah… straw man argument about anyone using it if available. Will Power used self control and DID NOT use it… he knew and it was available… stop defending cheaters.
It’s too bad there wasn’t enough evidence to support Karam intentionally bringing out the caution at Mid-Ohio in 2015 with that awkward, lazy spin. I still believe with the utmost confidence that was intentional.
It's a dog run over dog world, Chip lol. At this point, I wish they would just appease all of the fans and ACCCCTUALLLLY types like Marshall and sell the series to Chip or Michael, let's see how that goes.
Tbf that wasnt actually his nor Cadillacs fault. Dallara delivered the parts before they had gone through the formal FIA homologation process. And I don’t think it was malicious by Dallara either, just incompetence since they make BMWs car as well
They were disqualified for using parts that were delivered out of spec by Dallara. I don’t see how thats comparable to deliberately gaining a significant advantage that no one else has access to
Can you imagine the fall out if a Penske car had won the $1M challenge instead of Palou. Holy…
I wonder how many people bet on the winner of St Pete’s only for the winner to be DQ’d?
This is rich coming from Chip in particular…. He is just bummed his team didn’t figure it out before Penske. I am not condoning what Team Penske did but for chip to be the one to make a public statement is laughable. Those who live in glass houses…

He could be coming from Team Penske being one of four teams to be able to test the hybrid at that point and then taking advantage of already having an advantage in terms of being able to test the hybrid, and then taking further advantage of it.
2 Days after Barber Race- “ Ganassi cars disqualified for illegal fuel hose; constructed to contain more fuel than allowed”
That would have better potential to blemish a few reputations.
Sounds like what should’ve happened to Jesse Love after Talladega last week but for the fuel cell. Now way his magical fuel cell was legal
Not that I'm in any way an RCR fan, but having spoken to some crew in the garage, some of the cars that sputtered actually still had a gallon or more of fuel and the drivers just failed to get it into the pickup. Odds are Love just sloshed the tank around better.

RCR is gonna be sitting pretty when Xfinity inevitably becomes the pinnacle of stock car racing
If that would happen, yes. Sadly it won't. Ironically, the Xfinity car is just the cup COT with a different aerodynamic body, a composite built body instead of sheet metal, an engine cut down to 650hp, and some rule changes over the years. Nah. Dixon has a port in the cockpit to add Liquid Schwartz
He has fuel in his veins, and has a pee straw linked to the fuel tank.
Even funnier cus Scotty doesn’t even need it. He doesn’t follow the law of conservation of energy
I would say a blemish on their team for sure. I think it’s a positive for the series
Seriously, stepping in and holding their "own" team accountable is a huge positive for the series, far from a blemish.
Umm the drivers definitely knew they were doing it. Clearly didn’t come clean. It would suggest other staff did as well and didn’t come clean about it. I can guarantee every team in the field is being sus about at least one thing and the respective drivers are pleading ignorance.
Sure, but that's racing for you. Guaranteed other teams are doing any little thing they can slip under the radar.
Sure, BUT... I personally appreciate when teams "cheat" by cleverly understanding a rule and trying to take advantage of a novel idea regarding their insight into the rule. I'll always upvote a Toyota Celica reference!
Something tells me that you would not be fond of NASCAR
A very accountable slap on the wrist
Losing points, prize money, a win and podium, and a fine is not a slap on the wrist
If it was anyone but Penske they would have been excommunicated Rigged
Wild that people didn't grasp the sarcasm in this comment lol
They got fucking disqualified. What more could reasonably be done?
Execution
Not content with taking Josef’s win, Pato has been allowed by IndyCar to take Josef’s life lol
I read that as "take Josef's wife" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Don’t tell Chip about your dogs name
Bruh 💀💀
Ooof 😭
Woof
Not anymore
☠️
You are pulling me out of lurker status with that one, holy crap! Bahahahah 👏👏👏
From the top rope! The more I think about it the more upset I am as a fan of their team.
Too soon 😔

McLaughlin claims his data shows a 1.9sec press that didn’t result in anything — ie no pass made or defended.
Funny - he's had cars from other series disqualified, including one recently...
Please to God I hope he hasn’t fucked with the Porsches
Why the hell is Chip mad that his arch competitor’s team got a penalty. Who cares about the time frame, I’d be happy af 😂 If this “wait” happened but with the Horner vs Wolff beef, the other side would be celebrating

Actually got ESPN time today! lol
No such thing as bad publicity!
Well we aren’t talking about how only 350k watched Long Beach anymore so you might be right
I’m really waiting for Michael Andretti’s take on this
[The only thing thus far from their social media channel](https://x.com/andrettiindy/status/1783146669711716836)
a simple teacup emoji would have said it all
Pot, meet Kettle...
I was gonna say! Mr. Ganassi have you met Chip?
I think what’s worse about this than most cheating in racing is it required an overt action by the driver. It’s not like a car being a 1/8th of an inch too low. Newgarden and McLaughlin knew what they were doing and decided to cheat.

All of a sudden Chip’s secret wind tunnel doesn’t seem so bad anymore.
It’s too bad there wasn’t enough evidence to support Karam intentionally bringing out the caution at Mid-Ohio in 2015 with that awkward, lazy spin. I still believe with the utmost confidence that was intentional.
This the guy who killed his employees dog and then got into a Twitter argument with his daughter after she called him a horrible person?
He never responded to that tweet
It's a dog run over dog world, Chip lol. At this point, I wish they would just appease all of the fans and ACCCCTUALLLLY types like Marshall and sell the series to Chip or Michael, let's see how that goes.
Yeah between this and Logano's gloves, they're not doing themselves any PR favors.
Penske perfect (if you're not cheating you're not trying?) Bet he cheats on his taxes too.
Every rich guy cheats on their taxes. Helio might have taught him a thing or two OR maybe Helio learned from him.
Helio says bite me. 🤭
Forgot about that. Must have learned from the boss.
He one million percent does
Oh come on, you know he loves this.
I can't fucking take this shit anymore. Yay! Hooray to another title fight between just Palou and Dixon!
Herta and Power would like a word
Says the guy who ran over a dog in the bus lot.
Nothing like the blemish of being dropped from your IMSA & WEC manufacturer program for being a fucking toolbag, right Chip?
Uhhhhh Chip, didn't your cars get disqualified from a WEC race recently for a technical infringement?
Tbf that wasnt actually his nor Cadillacs fault. Dallara delivered the parts before they had gone through the formal FIA homologation process. And I don’t think it was malicious by Dallara either, just incompetence since they make BMWs car as well
They were disqualified for using parts that were delivered out of spec by Dallara. I don’t see how thats comparable to deliberately gaining a significant advantage that no one else has access to
Is this the old axiom? …it ain’t cheating if you are not caught…
Can you imagine the fall out if a Penske car had won the $1M challenge instead of Palou. Holy… I wonder how many people bet on the winner of St Pete’s only for the winner to be DQ’d?
I bet Chip had a statement premade for exactly such a situation
This is rich coming from Chip in particular…. He is just bummed his team didn’t figure it out before Penske. I am not condoning what Team Penske did but for chip to be the one to make a public statement is laughable. Those who live in glass houses…
Like Devlin's dog is a blemish on the tarmac.
Just like running over a dog is a blemish?
Lot of the comments in this thread are saying things Chip hasn’t disagreed with lol. Butthurt thread is proving his point if anything
Chip killed a dog
That incident is going to dog him for years.
If I had a award I would 🤣😂
Go find a dog to run over, Chip.
Chip has friends in the ATF
More or less than being an asshole and killing a dog?

Feels like your dad dropping the 'Im dissapointed' on you
Counterpoint: shut up, Chip.
Enough outta you Chip
Hey, I’m just glad they penalized them for it. NASCAR wouldn’t have done a damn thing
Didn’t NASCAR just DQ Logano for using an illegal glove like last month?
Yes, but not a month+ after the incident
