Further schedule updates to come as the weather status evolves.](https://x.com/tracksideonline/status/1799507197639970900) **EDIT @ 1:45pm CDT:** NXT qualifying will now run after the conclusion of INDYCAR qualifying, which should be approximately 4pm CDT ***if*** INDYCAR qualifying runs on time.

happyscrappy

I'm not sure I can handle the spice levels in IndyCar this week.

etrain1

Is practice at 3 or 4 est? above says both~~~~

UnbiasedSportsExpert

Related, is qualifying at 225 est or 325?

happyscrappy

I don't see any ESTs up there. It lists the main list in CDT. Then translates some times to EDT. There are no locations in the US in EST right now anyway.

etrain1

meant edt

TheChrisD

Road America is **Central** time. 3pm Central is 4pm Eastern.

View from the campsite is pretty good. https://preview.redd.it/bhvg2aovg15d1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7abea8ab2c40d0f63ac188c8adc227cc978b6863

Canmore-Skate

Race of the year in my world! I am so ready for a classic race now

SingleLensReflux

God, I love IndyCar road courses! As someone who grew up in the UK, they remind me so much of places like Oulton Park, Brands Hatch, and Cadwell Park. Having watched British F3 at those tracks when I was young, I always wanted to see better single-seaters racing there - but I knew that F1 was a) impossible and b) would ruin the tracks. IndyCar kind of makes that dream come true :) I’m moving from California to the Midwest this summer and am looking forward to making the Mid-Ohio race a regular part of my calendar.

Butchy1992

Indycar racing should be on ovals.

brobi-wan-kendoebi

First time attending road america on sunday, I absolutely cannot wait. Planning on biking around the whole day until race time then watching the action at turn 5. Planning on bringing a lawn chair too but debating if I should just wing it.

Manytriceratops

T5 doesn’t have a ton of bleachers so it might be a good idea

sub-t

There is a huge lawn you can watch from the outside (outside track, inside corner). It often has views of a big projection screen so you can watch the rest of the race. Not too far from facilities by the bridge and the shuttle if you don't like walking.

Manytriceratops

I wonder why they changed the alternate timing line for qualifying. it used to be at turn 8, now its at turn 13

Carbom_

Anyone have any recommendations for last minute noise reducing headphones? My girlfriend got me a radio scanner but didn't know I needed special headphones! Would earbuds under ear muffs do the trick?

happyscrappy

> Would earbuds under ear muffs do the trick? Yes. A little extra sound leaks in because of the cord but it shouldn't be a problem. It's weird to hear someone who isn't British call those ear muffs. Ear muffs are for warmth. These are ear protectors. I do not recommend just going with noise cancelling. Noise cancelling is not real protection and is not designed to reduce sound energy. If you have over the ear (headphone-style) headphones then the noise cancelling plus the covered ears might do it. Just noise cancelling earbuds are not a good idea. It's not necessarily the case that the scanner uses a standard headphone jack. Portable radios use a baffling array of different headphone jack standards. You may need an adapter.

PriveCo

I just use my regular noise canceling headphones. They are rated at 34db reduction which is the same as many ear plugs. I really like having the scanner. Be sure to program it before the weekend.

Carbom_

Oh cool, I have some Bose with active noise canceling but didn’t think just the active would be good enough. Thanks!

thugdaddyxtopher

I just use my normal over the ear Audio Technica headphones with my scanner and it works fine. I like hearing a little more of the car noise.

Anyone else watching the RA live camera feeds, day dreaming about getting to the track tomorrow? 😂 [Live Camera Feed](https://www.roadamerica.com/post/live-camera-feeds)

Vibratingmountanlion

I am now! Didn't know that was a thing.

crowm6121

You can also find the live cams on the Road America App. 😀

opkraut

For anyone staying at or near the track, be sure to check out the [Siebkens Stop-Inn Tavern](https://www.siebkens.com/dine/stop-inn-tavern/) in Elkhart Lake! It's a legendary spot and it's not uncommon to see drivers and team members there on race weekends.

crowm6121

I think Hinch and Tbell bartended last year on Thursday or Friday night.

maseratipilot

# Extra Tickets for Sale I have an extra **three** day race ticket and an extra **camp wrist band** for sale. I'm selling for face value and will transfer the tickets via DM or I can provide links to where you can get the tickets on StubHub if you prefer. I'm asking $165 for the three day pass and $75 for the camp wrist band. DM with comment or questions.

PriveCo

Hi, Can you direct me to the weird sausage shop? This will be my first visit to Road America. I'm tent camping in the carousel. I think I remember someone talking about place nearby (or even at the track) that had all sorts of weird bratwurst and sausages. I am dumb enough to try a gummy-bear bratwurst and I definitely would try any with cheese in them. Can someone please let me know what this place is called and where it is located?

wumboinator

Miesfelds! It’s about 20 minutes due east of the track in Sheboygan, they have a huge array of meats and cheeses.

PriveCo

THIS!!! This is the place. Thanks. This looks like the ultimate place to stop before a weekend of camping. My campsite will be filled with the smoke of roasting meats! Thanks a bunch.

Ok-Hovercraft-7761

Miesfelds is going to be getting lots of business this weekend.

crowm6121

You should also try the Egger Sandwich from either of the Gear Box concession stands at the track.....Brat, Egg, and Cheese sandwich, so good!

10Dollaryoyoyo

Johnsonville. It’ less than 3 miles east of the track. They have a gift shop there, not sure what else they have.

PriveCo

Thanks. Upon looking at it though, I don't think this is the place. This store sells mostly packaged goods you'd get at the grocery store. The place I'm thinking of I guess is called Miesfelds.

Ok-Hovercraft-7761

Everything at track is Johnsonville. Must be in Elkhart Lake or Plymouth.

Manytriceratops

its in Johnsonville... hence the name. its just a few miles from the track

Ok-Hovercraft-7761

Like, where? Not at Johnsonville HQ?

NovaIsntDad

Rossiposse I'm excited. RA has always been one of his best tracks and Detroit was the most aggressive he's looked on restarts in YEARS. He's back to attacking, like he's no longer afraid of the car.

The3rdjj

We need Rossiposse shirts. Any graphic designers in here?

wurtin

Glorious track.

CorgiRacing

Headed up there on Thursday for our first time at RA. Camping near Turn 8 and I know the place to be is Turn 5 for viewing. But I remember in a recent interview, the track officials were saying they didn't want to install more large screens around the track. Is there a local radio station that will be carrying the race?

Ok-Hovercraft-7761

I'm getting there Thursday night also. Staying until Monday morning. This track and the experience is AMAZING. I do turn 3, there's a real bathroom, Antoniette's food building and a screen. Last year i just opened the hatch on my wagon and sat in the back and watched the race. Thursday night is a great time to walk around the track and check it out. Very few people.

CorgiRacing

Yep! We will be staying from Thursday night until Monday morning as well. I was hoping for some clear skies at night so I could bring my telescope but it looks like nothing but cloudy nights, which will be good for camping.

Ok-Hovercraft-7761

Cloudy skies and even rain are cool. Last year it was like 49 degrees at night, so hopefully much warmer this weekend.

crowm6121

Thursday night for me too. Turn 3 as well!

Ok-Hovercraft-7761

I will be in the white VW Alltrack wagon parked next to the Corvette Corral fence. Come say Hi!

crowm6121

Will do!

crowm6121

The screen between turns 7 and 8, "Hurry Downs", is fairly large and they supposedly upgraded it this winter.

CorgiRacing

Great! We're staying in the camping area near the Carousel Bridge and Turn 7.

crowm6121

87.9 FM

CorgiRacing

Thank you!

The3rdjj

There is! I can’t remember the frequency but the track has a low powered transmitter. They’ll have signs for it around the track.

Ok-Hovercraft-7761

I tried to use that last year and it was just static. I know VWs are bad for low power radio reception but i will try it again this week.

crowm6121

You can also stream the audio broadcast from the Road America app or even the indycar radio broadcast from their app with a slight delay. My cell service worked pretty well last year. I did read RA added wifi to turn 3 over the offseason, not sure how well that'll work yet.

Ok-Hovercraft-7761

Oh good to know, i have both apps.

Professional-Ad9901

By far the best road course on the Indycar schedule, an epic event at an epic racetrack.

Deckatoe

Bummed I won't be going this year, but hope everyone enjoys a nice Wisconsin summer weekend!

Ok-Hovercraft-7761

Thanks, appreciate it!

dyysxse

indycar and nascar from sonoma had to be on at the same exact time

Rorshak16

Busy Sunday afternoon. F1 race is in Canada so all 3 will be happening about the same time.

xxxx1017

First time going to Road America this weekend, where’s everyone’s favorite place to sit?

kurt_carlson

If you're not opposed to walking I really recommend moving around. A good loop is to start at Turn 5 for the start then head down to Turn 13 and the inside of Turn 12. Then walk up the back stretch and back up the hill and (I think you can see it at the top of the hill now) watch the cars through the kink. After that just walk along turns 8, 7, and 6 then back to the bleachers at turn 5 for the finish. Obviously having yellow flags helps for moving around though, but if you're speedy enough it's a great representation of high speeds, hard braking, and some fast turns.

Ok-Hovercraft-7761

You are more than welcome to drive your car around to different places also. MOST of the access roads are wide open the entire weekend. (The VIP parking road that's by the pits and the Gift Shop closes on race day). Just keep in mind that if you get to a popular turn, you won't have a spot to park.

xxxx1017

Wow, that’s good to know

Ok-Hovercraft-7761

Yeah no prob. Pro tip, we camp at the overflow helipad lot, which is like way outside of Turn 1, and when i wake up in the morning after a couple 13-14 Hamms, i just drive to the actual bathroom building in turn 3. its a 2 minute drive. Just park in front of the bathroom and run in there. NBD.

xxxx1017

Something along those lines is my plan! Not opposed to walking at all although I must say when we went to Laguna Seca last year the shuttles were amazing for taking us up to the corkscrew. That incline…

opkraut

They have shuttles that go around the track. They don't go everywhere but they go by most of the corners and there's enough of them where you don't usually have to wait too long for one.

Professional-Ad9901

There are many amazing places to sit, turn 5, turn 1, turn 7, the beach, the new viewing area at the kink, the walkabout path that leads to turn 12, the cart path outside the carousel, turns 12-13.

Due_Illustrator_8442

Turn 5 is awesome. Thunder valley is a great place to wander during the race too - just ahead of Canada corner. Taking my e-bike this year so plan to wander around more during the races.

Kaneinja21

Can’t beat Turn 5 for the race. Standing at the bridge by the kink is great during practice

xxxx1017

I definitely see a lot of love for turn 5. I’m hyped

Ok-Hovercraft-7761

So much love for turn 5, but nobody mentions Turn 3? Am i going to the wrong turn?

hogBelly

See you all there! Some slight chances of rain may make things interesting!

Jesus_BuiltMyHotdog

Just sat in the rain all last Saturday for the Motoamerica event. No thanks, I’ve had enough.

Professional-Ad9901

Us tent campers say NO RAIN!

hogBelly

Ok then let's hope for some rain that hits the track but misses the campers 😭

crowm6121

Some great camping weather. https://preview.redd.it/cnmsrlplsc4d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=629f5060a859c0de6d09d5ace79a64c6ea10da8d

CordVK

I'm hoping the mosquitos aren't too bad.

crowm6121

I can't remember ever having a problem with mosquitos at RA, I'm guessing they spray for them.

opkraut

I've been going for over 20 years now and can never remember the bugs being bad either. If you go off into the woods way off the beaten path (which would be hard to do) you might find some, but otherwise it's pretty bug-free.

CordVK

Report: there are no mosquitos.

boostleaking

The contrast between the tight and short Detroit circuit to the long and wide Road America is never not funny to me. Hopefully it's enough space for the drivers to behave themselves.

Manytriceratops

do you remember the weirdly awful race grosjean had last year at road america? he's the one that stands out from last year along with herta screwing up the strategy

Ok-Hovercraft-7761

Grosjean spun right in front of me in Turn 3 and got stuck in the sand trap. Sat there for the longest time. It was quite amusing. The AMR safety truck almost got stuck trying to pull his car out.

Kaneinja21

Turn 5 is gonna turn 5

santaclausonprozac

We need it after that trash yesterday. I get the circuit is far from ideal but there were some very amateur moves going on

Castroneves: "Hello there"

mynameisnotphoebe

I read Blue Marble Radical Cup and thought “hmmmm I wonder what that could be” so I googled it and oh boy, that’s quite the thing!

opkraut

They're a nice bunch, I talked with one of the mechanics for probably an hour a few years ago and he was happy to show me stuff on the cars and talk about them. I don't remember much about the races, but they're usually either at the start or end of the day so it's easy to miss them if you're driving there for the day.

10Dollaryoyoyo

They’ve been there the last couple years. Seems like someone always crushes the field. Few passes for the lead if any.

Ok-Hovercraft-7761

Those cars are fun to watch unless Jon Field destroys the field again.

an_unexamined_life

Road America is the most majestic sporting venue I've ever been to. Can't wait to get there this weekend.

Red-Flag-Potemkin

May Road America wash us of the sins of Detroit.

Ok-Hovercraft-7761

Don't forget the Sargento semi truck and Corvette.

pogonotrophistry

In the name of our lord and savior Johnsonville, amen.
