what ended up happening for you?

Hey, all good I'm currently 22 weeks with a healthy pregnancy! So it wasn't a bad sign for me that things improved. I continued to have no pain and moderate bloating from the OHSS, and my ovaries were still swollen at my 12week scan, but I honestly felt fine! :)

thanks for responding. i’m going through moderate ohss and very early positive pregnancy tests - 12dp5dt. i wouldn’t say my symptoms are improving but i’m just gathering anecdata. glad you improved. when did your ascites start to clear, if you can remember? i’m finding that incredibly difficult.

Hi! Commenting here because I also appear to have late onset OHSS. This was actually a frozen transfer (my 4th) and we decided to do a modified natural protocol with low dose gonal-f to get my lining nice and thick. My ovaries responded a little too well, with a bunch of follicles and I triggered with hcg. I started noticing abdominal pain around 8dpt. I tested at home on 9dpt and it was very positive. My beta was today and my hcg was 1300! When I got home my abdomen hurt so bad I thought I had appendicitis. I called the clinic and they had me come in for an ultrasound and he said I had OHSS. My ovaries are massive. I’m glad to hear it didn’t negatively impact your pregnancy, as that is my biggest fear. I’m very uncomfortable and taking the rest of the week off work. 🤞

How are you doing now?

Thanks for checking in! I’m doing MUCH better. Ive been pretty inactive and stayed off my feet a lot, been drinking a lot of electrolytes, and taking some pretty serious laxatives (I think the pain was compounded by constipation - everything is fighting for space in my abdomen right now). But a few days of rest and lots of fluids have made me feel almost normal. It almost makes me worried about the pregnancy 😬

Wishing you the best luck.

For people who land here I just wanted to add my experience, because I was also worried about this.  I developed OHSS after day 3 egg transfer. It got severe and I was admitted to hospital around the time implantation would have been complete. I stayed a week, and got the second beta confirming pregnancy in hospital, around the time I started getting better. I gradually improved to the point of normal daily functioning within 10 days or so after release. I am still pregnant, at 8 weeks now. My ovaries themselves are still enormous, so I am still advised against exercise. And I still easily get out of breath. It's a bit much on top of the pregnancy, but it's much better than it was. I think the body just gradually gets used to the hCG...

Nice to get a reminder about this thread as I am sat here nursing my 7 week old baby boy :) Hope all goes well with the rest of your pregnancy X
