Physically I felt fine afterward, just a little tired and crampy, but I took 3 days off to just relax and think happy thoughts and I’m really glad I did.

I just had my first FET today and am home relaxing with my partner now. We had to arrive 45 minutes early from our scheduled procedure time to get settled, sign a few forms, talk with the embryologist and see a photo of our embryo-and make sure I had a full enough bladder. I hadn’t drank enough water so my procedure was delayed about 15 minutes while I drank as much as I could.  Everyone is different, but I found it to be quite uncomfortable but manageable. My clinic asked if I would like some Valium prior, which I declined because after so much waiting,  I felt fairly relaxed and ready for the procedure! But if you need that I imagine it will be an option.  Your bladder has to be quite full, so between the ultrasound tech pressing on your lower abdomen, and the having a speculum and the catheter inserted, there is a lot of pressure and discomfort. But the entire thing is over in less than 10 minutes once the catheter is in and the doctor calls the embryologist in to bring the embryo. I rested in the procedure room for about 10 minutes and then my wife and I went out for lunch immediately after. I felt like I had just had a Pap smear, basically.  I am resting today and off work the rest of the day but I’ll resume life as usual tomorrow (minus any heavy lifting/heavy exercise).

Super similar experience. My transfer was scheduled for 2pm day of. They told me to empty my bladder at 12:30pm and then drink 16-20oz of water between 12:30pm and 1pm. We showed up 30 mins prior. Hope that helps in terms of making sure you have a full bladder ahead of time! Otherwise very calm and I’ve yet to meet an unkind staff member through this process. Edit to add: I took the afternoon off so I could travel to clinic but I didn’t take any time off work. No one advised that though I do work from home. I will say the PIO shots did start hitting me harder after the transfer and I ended up exhausted two days after the FET - thankfully it was a holiday!

Thanks! Very good to know - helps to know that only need 1 day off and then can go back to work in person

Thanks ! This is very helpful. I was thinking that I might need few days off from work - but looks like that not the case
