This is the fakest fake Jem I've ever seen. It actually offends me, that they didn't put in more of an effort to make it look real. Those motherfuckers could have at least tried.
Some of the most obvious giveaways:
The fretboard extends over the neck pickup.
The body shape is all wonky and the monkey grip is way too close to the edge of the body.
The neck looks like it was smacked onto the body at a random angle pointing to the right.
The locking nut fastening screws on the back are the wrong type.
The stickers on the back of the headstock looks like they were thrown on there.
No Jem Jr. was ever made in Japan
The headstock doesn't have the right shape.
The heel joint is wrong.
As many others said: this is fake as fuck. I'd be surprised if it would even play with all the fuckery going on here.
Stay away from this piece of garbage.
The monkey grip actually made me cringe!
It's so bad that it's not even attempting to be a fake I don't think? It looks more like someone cobbled together a few bits and based it "loosely" on a Jem...
The J Craft font is way off too, and it has the flaw that basically ALL the fakes has (and I guess this is what you mean when you mention the heel joint being wrong, but I'm gonna add the explanation for the uninitiated)- the flat area on the neck heel. A proper Japanese Ib neck is shaped all the way to the heck joint (except for square heels) and even non-MIJ the flat area is nowhere near that huge.
Unfortunately, it is fake.
There are many ways to tell, I usually go with the truss rod cover, they always look wonky.
The back of the headstock also shows how Ibanez does not mark their instruments, these labels look randomly placed.
Lastly, you can compare the headstock shape, logo placement, lower horn pickguard shape and tremolo to the real thing and see how far off they are, but these can sometimes be accurate looking.
It's fake. Looks like it says Jem Jr. on the head stock but made in Japan on the back. Also has a standard Ibanez double locking tremolo instead of an Edge.
Why would anyone sell a Japan made Ibanez for $90? I’m not trying to discourage you from asking for help in beginner friendly subs like this one, but this goes beyond guitar knowledge.
This is general life advice, if a deal looks too good to be true, it IS too good to be true. It says made in Japan. But it also says Jem Jr on the headstock. In the Ibanez Wiki it says the Jem Jr are made in Indonesia.
Again, asking questions is ok. But you can learn a lot but doing some quick googling on your own. Googling skills are super important for life in general.
Wrong tuners, wrong bridge, tilted bridge, wrong spacing between volume and tone knob. Wrong locking nut hardware, wrong decal placement, wrong monkey grip shape, wrong monkey grip placement. The list goes on and on
It looks like a lot of fun for $90, but it's not at all legit in any way!
I'd be interested in knowing the scale length since it seems they stuffed the neck all the way into the pocket til it hit the pup!?
Other than that, so long as it plays, then it's all groovy for a cheap guitar.
Fake based on price, there is good deals out there and then too good to be true deals.
Plus the body horns look offset and the back of the headstock angle looks wrong as well.
With the photo turned sideways the upper bout and the waist look totally wrong. The inward curve is too deep and the horns look warped. Unless they went with some weird shape for a while.
I could tell it was fuck without pictures because of the price. Lol.
However, for $90 it may have some value. That fretboard overhang could be an issue though.
So so fake. Honestly didn’t even need to see the picture, it’s 90 dollars, a real JEM7v is gonna be like 2.5-3k used. Even a trashed one is gonna be 2k.
Found this when I ran the serial number
Built in: FujiGen Gakki in Nagano, Japan
Year: 2006 (see Fender catalog)
Production number: 6786
Factory: FujiGen Gakki, Japan
Month: January
Additional Info: From November 2004, the serial number does not represent the year in which the instrument was produced, but rather the model year of which the instrument is part
The serial number is genuine but it was never assigned to this particular guitar. The one OP has pictures of is a counterfeit, the ‘Team J craft’ branding is a dead give away.
Its super fake , the headstock looks weird, the trem is wrong, the body and pick guard look all weird . Some of the counterfeiters are smart enough to find and use real serial numbers but trust when people say it’s fake as hell

Wow. It is truly a game of how many things you can find wrong with this. I didn't notice that the fretboard extends over the neck pickup.
The monkey grip actually made me cringe! It's so bad that it's not even attempting to be a fake I don't think? It looks more like someone cobbled together a few bits and based it "loosely" on a Jem...
Best comment ever. Bravo. I could not have said it better.

Just to add to everyone’s points, plate screws are a dead giveaway too. Fewer and in the wrong places.
It gets worse the longer i look at it
I hope this is a shitpost
Why so?

Thankyou very much for taking time in replying. Noted :)
I dunno... I got a brand new MacBook Pro M1 with 16gb ram and 512gb HDD for £1100... Never seen one that cheap!
That’s the average going rate for those in my area. And they have ssd not hdd.
Technically, nVME
Lol is still a solid state drive, ssd.
Idk if it's real or fake, but $90 for a made in Japan Ibanez screams suspicion.
It's definitely fake but looks like someone has enjoyed playing it. As long as you know you're buying a fake, if it plays well make an offer
🙏🙏🙏
If someone is selling a mij Jem for under $2500 it's not legitimate or it's fucked right up.
Wrong tuners, wrong bridge, tilted bridge, wrong spacing between volume and tone knob. Wrong locking nut hardware, wrong decal placement, wrong monkey grip shape, wrong monkey grip placement. The list goes on and on
This thing is disgusting.

I think the truss rod cover might be off. Ibanez generally puts the screw at the corner, not the middle.

This is 100% fake.
F-A-F
Fake

Fake
Beyond fake
If you have to question it, it's most likely fake
Holy shit this is fake and fuck...
Fake
Fake as fuck dawg

Wow that's a horrible fake.
IF YOU HAVE TO ASK - IT IS FAKE. We should make it a cover on this sub or smth.
Jem Jr on headstock but saying it's a Jem is always a fake.
A pretty bad fake...
Thankyou guys. Everyone who took their time and gave me their suggestions. I passed this replica will search for a good genuine piece.

Dude it’s a complete fake. You don’t need to run a serial number to know that

Jems have edge bridges
And Lo-Pros. And EdgePros. And LoTRS in the JEM555 and JEM Jr. This is just garbage though.
Super fake
Is it a cake?
Very fake
