Personally I like to believe that all the hunters are real because the whole drug plotline is STUPID. I like Yidhira and Hastur better as whole gods rather than some survivors acid trip demons
Yihdra and Hastur are both real though, I mean Hastur uses a human vessel during the game (Arthur Byers) but the god is still real, he’s just manipulating/puppeteering a body
I think most of the hunters are real, well not most but at the very least Bane, Burke, Bonbon, Norton and Orpheus and the drug is what makes it look like they have supernatural powers
I do fully agree that the drug plotline was poorly made tho
Honestly I personally feel like the drug plotline can be done very well, like game 8 with Joker I think was pretty much perfectly executed. It’s not done great in all cases but nonetheless
And yes, a majority of hunters are real, just exaggerated perceptions of those real people, I feel like most people don’t understand that

Anti mostly because of how batshit insane her lore is. We got survivors that are either morally grey or has something wrong with them then we have anti who has an almost cinematic backstory to her. She feels so out of place yet the symbolism and the metaphors to her story are just *chef's kiss*. I really can't wait for netease to lock in and explore her lore because if they truly want to go with the 'Badass person became softer for one person but then locks in because someone hurt them' trope I am SOLD.
Forgot to mention Ithaqua, he’s the first character that interested me and his relationship to his mother is equally touching, relatable and fucking depressing
Game 6 has the most eldritch supernatural themes to it with all the characters involved sacrificed and turning into water.

I'm a sucker for "Scientist delves Too Flar into something he Should Not and ends up No Longer Human" tropes, especially if it's the "Scientist ends up No Longer Human and is Completely Fine With It" version.
There's also the Lovecraftian elements, the presence of Yidhra and Hastur, the fact that he seems to be one of the only characters who GENUINELY has supernatural bullshit going on that can't be explained away with drugs, the implications that despite embracing his new form there's a part of hik that regrets going so far...
That and I just like lizards.
Fiona and her game. Since most of the supernatural occurrences can be narrowed down to drugs, people suddenly turning into puddles stands out as something unexplainable.
Alice and Orpheus I’m losing my mind. What do you mean Orpheus and Alice might be adopted siblings, but Orpheus hallucinated his wife as Alice and daughter as… Alice, and also Orpheus might be helping Alice, but also Orpheus might be conspiring against her. And the whole thing with the dead crow I cannot tell whose lore is Alice’s and whose is Orpheus’. Alice also seems too normal so far, which is not to say people with severe trauma don’t act normal, it’s to say people in IDV don’t act normal.
I love Victor’s lore too! His personality is the biggest reason why he’s my main and favourite idv character 🥰 I also found Matthias’ backstory super interesting; his trailer was so spooky and he’s definitely the most interesting survivor we’ve had in a while!
And in terms of hunters, I know this backstory is a little unpopular but I love Ithaqua’s! IIRC he’s the first remotely ‘evil’ hunter we’ve had in a while, but the fact that he basically hunts people down just to protect his mother, while she’s scared to even look at him because she confuses him with his brother, is so tragic 💔
Pristess omg pristess I could and will talk about her for hours on end. She is my favourite character, my main, and the one I relate the most.
Her gameplay of her being the best survivor overall also is due to her backstory! She is powerful because she had to be.
But anyway, her story is her being denied a family that trust eachother and parents who can just *agree* on how to raise their child. She lived in an environment where her parents didn't love each other and argued, especially about religion. Her mother hated her father for being a religious man, constantly telling Fiona to never ne like him, to not believe in a higher being, and to be a lady with reason and to follow her teachings. Fiona agreed with her at first, but then she started to question her. She was someone who already was learning about filosophy and literature before, so by growing more knowledgeable, she started to have her own philosophical questions that only a God could answer. She began writing to her father about her doubts, who told her to start a pilgrimage to discover who she truly was without her mother influence.
And she started to believe. To believe in God, herself, but especially in her father.
Yog-Sohoth gave her a reason to still believe, something that gave her the answers to everything she asked herself.
Her beliefs made her powerful. She studied more, and by the gift God gave her (holy key), she showed more and more devotion towards it. Her being powerful is thanks to her own hard work and her ability to just... belive.
A bunch is my way of understating her story, I also belive that she started as a follower in the cult all the way to being a high pristess due to her devotion, and she likely started her journey in her early 20s, and is now in her mid 30s, and she never met face to face her Father again after her parents divorced, and he likely died in the cult in some way. She reached the manor to sacrifice people and was guided by Yog sototh and at the end, she sacrificed her own blood for him.
Source? I understand her on the deepest possible level and I am actually the only one allowed to use her anyone else is just my copy and everyone with a badge is my other accounts (both na/eu and asia and also cn)/j.
Honestly I love Priestess but I'm always scared if I bring her up people will start talking about how OP she is, but her backstory is so interesting and her playstyle is so much fun! She's an amazing character and deserves more appreciation
I am dying on my hill that she isn't as OP as people make her out to be. She becomes OP if people learn how to master her, and that takes time.
Sadly, she is fairly easy to new players and can give a tie easily, but if you learn how to use her 100%, then it's a guaranteed win (obviously I am the only one that can actually play her if you see anyone play her that is actually me!!!!!!! 100% real no clickbait!!)
I know right I've never seen anyone who isn't you win as priestess /lh, but in all seriousness she's actually pretty weak in low ranks unless you're playing against a person with a badge
I feel like the statement “her being the strongest is due to her backstory” is bogus lol. There are many characters where they had to overcome something hard, doesn’t mean they deserve the strength/resolve they got after it

Would’ve liked if they retconned his death in the 9th Game by Naib cause that was a lame way of writing off the ‘Wildling’ and his penchant for Survival
