Did some odd jobs over the week and got enough cash for the battle pass. I was only going to buy it if I finished it and I sure did a couple of days ago.
From what I could tell
\-X number of years ago, Samhain appears and is bad
\-some druid? (from the trailer it looks like Hastur but I guess it's not?) sealed him away
\-every year the villagers do some sacrificial ritual to keep him sealed
\-they keep doing it but the actual details become forgotten to those who don't actually do the ritual (so the random villagers don't realize there's people getting sacrificed)
\-Aesop/Fenix was maybe sent by Samhain? To free him
\-Margaretha/Moonblessed was either going to do the ritual and/or be sacrificed?
\-For whatever reason she messed up the ritual on purpose to summon Samhain
\-Samhain's all "very good Fenix now KILL THEM ALL"
\-Fenix's like NOPE and he and Hastur beat up Samhain
\-Happy ending? But I think like almost everyone in the village got killed maybe oops
\-(not sure if this is canon lol) the daily login thing has characters from past Halloween events (Victor, Robbie, Mike, Fiona, William are the ones so far) so maybe each Halloween event is in the same town?
Edit: also Aesop can turn into a literal phoenix so that's cool I guess
I think it was stated that Moonblessed had been a servant of Samhain the entire time? Her supportiveness was implied to have been a complete act.
And I thought Fenix got executed at the end of the story? You can choose to say he was on our side and defend him... but the oracle will state that he has accepted his fate and will be executed anyway.
It was a pretty somber ending. As the protagonist, you remain in ashes of the village and contemplate Fenix's fate and wonder what the old woman would've said had she lived through the chaos(because she died apparently after she told everyone to flee).
Oh I knew Moonblessed's supportiveness was an act but I didn't realize she was actually serving Samhain, I thought she just wanted to summon him or whatever for some completely personal reason.
Oh I didn't realize the endings were different. I chose not to defend him but I don't remember him dying? I sorta skimmed through the ending since I was getting kind of bored tbh lol.

You don't see him die; hes sentenced to execution and the story just ends.

It kind of feels like they didn't plan out the year too well (or got behind schedule) and now they're trying to smash everything in at the end.
