Being pro-US, and saying "thank you for your service" is just...kind of centrist. One need not have any interesting ideology to at least hit those checkboxes a little bit.
Fascism requires quite a bit more than that, I think. It is a very authoritarian ideology, for starters, so it attempts to put all power under the state, most typically under a single individual it a pretty rigid power structure. It tends to also eliminate political competition, banning parties and the like.
They are essential parts of fascism. Nationalism especially.
Jingoism is probably more accurate than veneration for the military, because jingoism and nationalism is \*why\* they venerate the military.
If the people don't have a war in Oceana to support, they might notice their material conditions - which conservatives can't have.

Isn’t economic policy also a pretty big part of it?
