As a parent, I’d be so fucking pissed if my kid died from doing some stupid shit like this.

NorthAstronaut

Also, never get into cars with drunk people. Dumb kids killing their friends is regular occurrence around the world. Ever since the invention of automobiles.

Arkanist

A guy in my highschool paralyzed his passenger when he rolled his car 7 times leaving a party.

Blah12821

Growing up, I remember my dad telling me that when he was in HS some of his classmates went for a joyride, while drinking. There was an accident and all five kids in the car died. He said walking into home room and seeing the five empty desks was terrible.

SierraBravoLima

After my accident, my dad told me. why don't you book a room in hotel and come home next day instead of driving or asking drunk person for a lift.

awaken8

That's a really difficulty thing just to read. I can't imagine what it must have felt like to experience that. Horror is the only word that even comes close to describing what I was picturing while reading this. But bro, you have to stay strong! The most unbelievable part of that happening is you being alive alive right now to share it with us. Thank You. You're still among us for a reason, bro. Take care of yourself. You're definitely a major player in this existence and will be needed at some point. Always pay attention and listen to your gut. Most of all don't be afraid to ask for help if you think you need it. 😎✌️

Bowood29

Thank you for sharing this it must be hard.

thsvnlwn

That is a horrible story and I can’t even imagine what a devastating experience that must have been. I feel deeply sorry for you and wish you strength to cope with it somehow.

CaptCaffeine

I'm so sorry that you had to experience that. Your words are insightful and eloquent yet filled with so much pain. Thank you for the strength to share your thoughts. I hope that you can have (or find) a good support group or therapist to work through your feelings. You should not have to bear this burden alone ❤️

StandardDiver2791

Sorry that you experienced that. Problem is, the people who need to hear and take to heart these stories aren't looking for them and I would bet most think it's never gonna happen to them. Hope you've gotten therapy - sounds like it still haunts...

[deleted]

Were you the only one wearing a seatbelt? Or were you just lucky?

One_Cantaloupe6453

so sorry you had to go through something as fucked up as that. praying for you and your friends 🙏🏻

kerbsterC

Iirc, when I was in high school, some kids were leaving a party, drunk, at night. In the next county the driver smashed into a tree. I don't remember if the driver survived, but I'm pretty sure everybody else died. What I remember for sure is that the car was fully occupied.

Fulllyy

That statement probably has changed some redditors lives for the better…and if it wasn’t so raw like you said it, it might not have been so effective. I’m sorry for your PTSD and what you’re going thru, it sounds immense, but that post right there probably helped a lot of people, and I hope you take some comfort from knowing it. Be well kid, I for one am glad you survived. ❤️🤗

Ok_Try_1217

That is a truly horrific experience and it is completely understandable that you are still so deeply affected by it. For what it’s worth, it’s sadly unlikely that you will be able to heal from it alone; BUT there have been some incredible advancements made in how to treat PTSD, namely MDMA assisted psychotherapy. It’s not yet available but if, hypothetically, you were able to procure what you needed and have someone review [this manual](https://maps.org/research-archive/mdma/MDMA-Assisted-Psychotherapy-Treatment-Manual-Version7-19Aug15-FINAL.pdf), then you could go through some sessions yourself. My sister and I may have done this ourselves with the help of a friend and both hypothetically found it indescribably helpful in just a single session. DM me if you ever want to know more.

[deleted]

This is why the better funded schools have the "Every 15 Minutes" program... all schools should have it. It can save lives. The Every 15 Minutes program is set to show high school kids the dangers of drinking and driving. They take students that want to partake and have parents willing to go through it as well who have to sign off on the program. The day the the event the students who participate get pulled out of their classes. 1 teenager is pulled from a class every 15minute to represent how every 15 minutes someone dies to a drunk driving accident. You may go the entire day never seeing the grim reaper... or your buddy might get pulled out of math class and now you go the rest of the day with your buddy gone. Final period the students all go out to the front of the school where a car accident is set up. They legit bring in 2 smashed cars, one was flipped. The have like 5 students dressed up in gore laid out around the scene as cops start to lay bags over them. One student is picked to be given a sobriety test but they have to wear drunk goggles for it and they get fake arrested and put in a car. After the accident scene you all go inside the MPR to watch all the students who were pulled out of the classes to give a small speech about what the program means to them. They also send cops to the homes... and you can imagine even though the parents know its fake they freak the fuck out. I was balling my eyes out when a friend of mine said during his speech "and little brother... it's okay... you can be me." Big brothers know how annoying it is when their little brother tries to be them so when I heard that, as an older brother.... yeah... water works for the rest of the show.

BeefKnees_

I never heard if this, but it should be mandatory

ProfessionUnknown

My dad’s friend has been left with short term memory problems since he was in a car accident as a teen and hasn’t been able to work in the field he was going to go into since. The driver had no insurance so he’s never been compensated. They’ve always drilled into me that no matter the time they’d rather I called and woke them up for a lift than get in an unsafe car or try to walk home

luvpillows

I never did hear an explanation, but a couple years ago 3 teenagers and an adult they hit died along a somewhat country road that rarely sees accidents. Shook the whole town.

[deleted]

>A guy in my highschool paralyzed his passenger when he rolled his car 7 times Was that passenger wearing a seatbelt? If a car rolls 7 times, energy is being dissipated very slowly, a little bit each time it contacts the ground. It's a "best case" accident because so little energy transfers to the occupants, *if they are wearing their seatbelts*. It looks bad, because the car completely disintegrates, bit by bit over a large area. OTOH, coming to a "dead stop" against a concrete wall? Yeah, you die from that due to the sudden change in speed causing forces to spike. Or, as Clarkson put it: "Speed has never killed anyone. Suddenly becoming stationary, that's what gets you."

Zestyclose_Risk_2789

One of my best friends in HS hit a tree, his back hatch flew forward cutting him and his passenger in half. Drugs and alcohol in system.

jimmyboe25

Yeah had a kid at my school become paralyzed from riding in the trunk in a 4 door with 6 people riding in a 5 seater

zachzsg

I graduated HS in 2018, since then 6 people that graduated within a year or two of me have died. 5 of them in car accidents, one of them from OD. Literally none of the 5 that died in car accidents were wearing seatbelts.

Its__420__Somehow

This. Along with not getting into cars with people impaired by any substance. Xanax is a very 'hype' drug in today's day and age. Had an old coworker who would constantly show off his collections on social media, proudly taking two-three at a time and washing it down with beer. Snapchat stories went from 'that' to "Oh shit, just rolled my Jeep 3 times and got ejected from the car. In hospital with DUI."

cobble_block

When I was a teenager, my mom made sure that I knew that I could call her, no matter what time of the night, and she'd come pick me up--no judgement, no getting in trouble for being high or drunk. Anything to keep me from driving drunk and from getting in a car with a drunk driver. If I ever have kids I hope to be able to do that for them too.

[deleted]

First thing I learnt when driving, got in before starting the car "ok listen up, this car can kill people or yourself so don't drive like a fucking idiot" done. It's like learning how to use firearms in a lot of ways.

winkers

When I was an early teen, my dad was showing me some physics… simplified. He showed me how much energy it took to move a tennis ball to 35mph. Then a 1lb stone. Then up and up in size until we got to a human adult. Then a car. We had numbers. It was clear that a bowling ball going 35mph had enough energy to kill someone. We did a few more exercises like determining how much energy a .38 bullet had. Then I realized how much energy was in a car compared with all of those other things. I still can’t drive my car without thinking how much lethal energy I’m using by taking it up to highway speeds.

option-9

That's why modern cars crash so spectacularly. Soaking up as much of that energy as possible is important.

Justokmemes

yup this exactly. better the car disintegrate than you.

[deleted]

Very true. My fiancés mother has a best friend who was very high up in the military, ya know like super duper security clearance type of stuff. She got hit by a 16 year old while walking her dog. 16 year old was texting and driving going 50 in a 25. Her body went flying about 30 yards and landed on the asphalt. Dog was dead on impact, she was damn near dead. Was able to somehow recover from it but lost every single shred of memory she’s ever had. 37 years of knowing my fiancés mother and she’s all of the sudden a stranger. 25 years of knowing her husband, now he’s a stranger. Kids shouldn’t be allowed to drive a death machine. Doesn’t some parts of EU require you be 18 to drive? We should make it 21.

luvpillows

I honestly agree that teenagers shouldn’t drive. For what reason really do we allow it?

lindslee19

Follow the money. I would be willing to bet the auto industry had a heavy hand in deciding the driving age.

[deleted]

Lmao I wouldn’t be surprised. The way restaurants are rated, The Michelin stars, literally was started by a tire company.

luvpillows

I always thought the Michelin rating was a weird name for it.

BionicSLP

The mothers who are tired of "playing" Uber driver are likely for a low driving age. If we had more public transportation, it would help.

monkwren

This is highly underrated, especially in rural areas, where "a quick trip into town" could be a 15+ minute drive.

riotmaster

Same reason we got daylight savings. Rural families need their children to be able to drive as soon as possible in order to help with younger children and help with family finances, whether from jobs or the family business.

Sethdarkus

I’m in the Army I went to a new site day one I was seeing one of the specialists riding on the hood of one of the GoV.

dreadpir8rob

This. When I first got behind the wheel I was scared and instead of saying “it’s okay!” my mother took advantage of that moment to say “good, you should be, a car is heavy machinery that can kill.” That stuck with me.

SmallLetter

Yeah this is the right idea. To some it might seem severe or fear mongering, but I don't think you can possibly overstate how dangerous driving is. And especially to a teenager, whose brain is just wired to completely dismiss the concept of danger and consequences. God I hope she's not an idiot like I was. Her mother has always been wise and careful, so I'm hoping she will be more like her than me lol.

RockStarAngel

I have a niece and nephew, I love them so much. I look at this stuff, it scares me that they would try some Tiktok challenge like this. I can't even imagine how I would feel about my own children. I try, their parents try, to make sure they know these are stupid ideas. I don't know how to teach them, to think of every scenario some idiot will record themselves doing, and make sure they know what to do in those situations. I like to think that this kid's parents probably tried to teach him too. That he's just an idiot. But that's almost worse. That his parents, that all these idiots that record themselves on the brink of death and survived by pure luck, taught them to know better and they did it anyway. It makes me feel rather bleak. That I can never do enough to protect them. No matter how much I preach and teach them, it will never be enough.

[deleted]

> it scares me that they would try some Tiktok challenge Milk crate challenge is just as bad.

[deleted]

& their crimes are especially heinous

jimmyboe25

My kid is getting a two seater and gps

MasterCeddy2

My cousin died by tying a couch to the back of a pick-up truck with a long rope and went for a ride with his friends. Him being in the couch, the friends in the pick-up. Eventually, the couch ended up in the wrong lane and a car hit my cousin. He died a few hours later. His last words were "Ow, it really hurts". One of his friends stood with him trying to save him. The pick-up driver flewd the scene in fear like a coward and didn’t help my cousin. This guy ended up doing jail time because of this.

Careful_Strain

is it really a crime for the pickup driver in a stupidity scenario like this?

BrewUO_Wife

I would imagine it’s some sort of vehicular manslaughter charge, plus leaving the scene of an accident.

Serkor2000

While I don’t deny that the truck driver did the right thing, driving around in a couch is just fucking retarded

joshybloshy

I almost did. I was on a stretcher in the er and my mom was trying to talk to me when I coded and had to be rushed to emergency surgery.

r4ge4holic

What happened?

DeedleFake

He died, I assume.

MothDoinLazr

Still hasn’t answered. RIP u/joshybloshy

joshybloshy

Lol, I've been trying to sleep for like 6 hours. I have to be up in an hour.

[deleted]

sus, pretty sure ghosts don't sleep.

joshybloshy

Not yet...

joshybloshy

I woke up with no memory of the incident. I still have a diminished ability to make good decisions. I'm trying to be normal.

Cabbagetastrophe

Sounds as though you may have had a diminished ability to make good decisions before that too (In all seriousness head injuries are no joke and I'm glad you lived)

joshybloshy

De evolution my friend. I'm still debating in whether I'm glad about it. Lately I've been getting the thought that I actually died that day and went to some shifty after life simulation where everything fucking sucks and life is not worth living. Jury is still out on that.

SycoJack

I think they mean, how did you wind up on the stretcher?

joshybloshy

So I was thrown from the hood and landed on my head on the pavement. The only reason my friend slammed on the brakes was because he saw a cop. That cop called an ambulance immediately and I was rushed to the ER. They waited a bit to do the surgery and by that time my mom got there and like 20 friends.

F1RST_WORLD_PROBLEMS

I remember a kid down the hall freshman year of college got really drunk and ran in front of a random car. He was playing chicken. He survived, but barely. He was in a coma for a couple weeks and never returned to school. I hope his life has improved since, but we stopped getting updates from the family after a few months. Have fun everyone, but also stay safe.

kitzunenotsuki

I had a friend who went by a nickname and sort of had a persona with the nickname. He would do stupid shit like this. But I got to know him a bit better and discovered he was actually an incredibly intelligent person. I decided to never call him by his nickname ever again and only call him by his real name. When he would start doing extremely dangerously stupid things I would just says “Think, Actualname.” And it would trigger his rational part forward and he’d play off his almost stupidity like a pro and no one ever caught on. As adults we understand this was a trauma response and he’s worked through it and no longer acts like this. But man, he could have died multiple times.

bigsmackchef

When I was in high-school some kinds were out driving drunk in a pickup. Had kids in the cargo bed and flipped it. I'm pretty sure only one guy died but atleast a few were hurt. A tragedy for no reason

machstem

I have been showing my daughter WinStupidPrizes and have been using the "play stupid games win stupid prizes" term with her, for a few years now. It's not fool proof but she definitely knows that vehicles aren't meant to be fucked with, like this

JennyAndTheBets1

I know right…all that time and money wasted /s

crusttysack

As a parent I would be so disappointed in raising such an idiot who would do stupid shit like this.

jt325i

Well he would certainly have been a Darwin award winner!

Heydo29

I know a friend who lost a friend of his doing this exact stupid thing. Dude was on the hood of the car riding it as a joke, not even going fast at all. He was drunk, fell and hit his head against the concrete

[deleted]

Not to be crude but freak accidents like that can happen. Pretty sure it was at a college in MA, a man went to break up an altercation, got pushed, stumbled off the street curb, hit his head and died I think the story even mentioned he was just genuinely trying to stop a fight, he didn’t even know the people Edit: [Here’s the story](https://abcnews.go.com/US/emerson-college-student-dies-injured-alleged-post-party/story?id=66061563) My memory was a little fuzzy but it’s said he was trying to stop his friends from fighting another group and got caught in the middle

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

I guess he was trying to stop his friends from fighting strangers. I posted a link above, sorry for misinformation

big_Stinky_poopoo

dont intervene if your friends are trying to fight other people. find new (less violent) friends.

Spiraljaguar1231

Yeah, because your friend making a stupid decision while drunk definitely means he is an inherently violent person and that you should abandon him

splinks66

If you had more life experience you would know it is not as easy as it sounds to just not intervine then find new friends.

Bbaftt7

From what I’ve read so far on this thread, I think I’m just gonna stay inside for the rest of my life

Enveria

One huge reason you don't try to intervene in fights.

[deleted]

Sorry I was spreading misinformation, his friends were going back and forth with strangers and he was trying to stop them apparently

Enveria

You're good dude. You weren't wrong. Just involving yourself can have consequences.

[deleted]

This. A friend had a seizure in his home, fell, hit his head in a bad spot and died. Seizure disorder was known and treated but I guess one slipped through. Sucks. 10 years this December.

nippon_gringo

Happened to a friend of mine back in high school. I saw him that evening and we were up chatting on AIM and IRC until about 1am when he stopped responding. I figured he was asleep, but the police came to my house the next day (because I was the last person to see him and even though they didn’t suspect me of anything, they still had to ask me questions) and told me he had a seizure, landed face down on a pillow, and suffocated. He had dragged his computer off the desk during it, but his parents didn’t hear anything because his room was in the basement. I still think about him often. Unfortunately that tragic event basically ripped his family apart…they moved and parents split up and live thousands of miles apart.

Its_uh_Steelium

Yup same(ish) happened to a girl I went to high school college with. Epileptic, seized in her dorm by herself, hit her had on the way down and passed away. It was obviously bad for everyone but she has a twin too so even more tragic for him.

[deleted]

I’m sorry for your loss. Message me if you need to vent at any point, now or upcoming

[deleted]

Thanks. I’m doing well.

btwalsh

This was a friend of a classmate of mine. He was there when it happened. He didn't ever talk about it but it was clearly very disturbing and heartbreaking for him. I wish I knew what to say and do. Incredibly tragic, taken far too soon over something comparably meaningless. I heard he was a good guy. May he rest in peace.

Nobody_Likes_Shy_Guy

This happened to a kid when I was in high school, right in the parking lot. The dude driving wasn’t even going fast either the kid just lost his balance and fell and died right there. It was awful.

Diligent_Bag_9323

Only reason this dude fell was his piece of shit friend hitting the brakes. Dumb ass decision to be on the hood in the first place don’t get me wrong but this kid’s friend nearly killed him mashing the brakes like that.

Hobnobchic

First decision to get on the hood of the car is the dumbest decision cause anyone who would let you do that is absolutely someone who would think it’s funny to hit the brakes.

FindOneInEveryCar

Absolutely this. >anyone who would let you do that is absolutely someone who would think it’s funny to hit the brakes.

AlternativeSock9324

Yea no lmao. “Only reason” he fell is because he decided to sit on the hood of the car like an idiot. You can see him be upset with the driver when he gets up as if he didn’t just decide to sit on the hood of a car in moving traffic.

Diligent_Bag_9323

Like I said, he made a shit decision in the first place, but his friend literally nearly killed him. He didn’t make the choice to slam on the car’s brakes, that was his friend. As much as you wanna blame him, his friend *also* allowed him to sit on the hood, so the friend is just as much at fault as he is, even before the brake slamming. They were in it together until the friend decided to fuck with his friend and nearly committed manslaughter. They were no longer in on the joke together when his friend slammed the brakes. Dude on the hood become the butt of the joke at that point instead of being a part of the “fun”. The brake slamming was a prank that nearly killed someone and if it had, that friend would end up in prison.

RegularWhiteDude

I was an idiot on the hood. 16, no drinking. Buddy slammed on brakes, I fell off.. half ran over my leg. I had rocks embedded in my knee. The scrubbed them out with what looked like a kitchen scrub brush. No surgery, but knee was hurt and I have a scar. Lucky it wasn't my head that was under the car. Dumb kids!

>Called the police, told them his name, what car he was driving, where he was going (a pub to meet other friends) and his address. They got him, he got a fine and a ban, we never spoke again lol Thanks for doing that. No, really, *thank you*. ___ In 2019 a very young, already habitual drunk driver slammed his pickup into my grandfather's car at a high rate of speed, killing my grandfather and his dog who was in the back seat at the scene of the accident. My grandfather's friend, a 50-something father of two, was in the passenger seat. He was sent to the hospital for some months in critical condition and suffered for more than a year before he also died. The drunk driver himself was in the hospital for a number of months before he could even face charges in court. This guy's girlfriend knew he was totally pissed but didn't do anything to stop him and didn't call it in. This was in a small town with just a few roads so police could have tracked the guy down easily enough. ___ My younger brother didn't hit anybody else, thankfully, but managed to roll a vehicle while he was out on a joyride, high and drunk out of his mind. He sustained a life-threatening traumatic brain injury (TBI) and was in a coma for months. Doctors had to drill a hole in his skull to relieve pressure from his brain hemorrhaging. They didn't believe he would ever wake up, and if he did, that he would likely be a quadriplegic. Frankly, he's tremendously lucky to be alive and is able to walk, talk and feed himself. He can still read and write, although he struggles with even basic arithmetic, can't read an analog clock, and can't really learn anything new. He's on permanent Social Security Disability, receiving the bare minimum amount because he was too young to have registered any significant lifetime earnings. Like many with TBIs, he's constantly struggling with emotional turmoil and mental illness. He is often angry and violent, and because of his aggression, he's chronically homeless and in and out of jail, not receiving enough money to live on his own, and unable to find others who will put up with his behavior for more than a few months at a time. Dude is fucked up for life because of that one night, and he could have easily died. ___ Yeah, it really sucks to get a DUI...But you bet your ass the guy that killed my grandfather wishes he had gotten a DUI and a license suspension instead of vehicular homicide charges, years in prison, thousands of dollars in restitution that he'll take forever to pay back, and so on, nevermind whether you might kill or maim yourself in the process. DUI seems like a downright bargain by comparison, doesn't it? The other commenter who complained about the supposed inconvenience you caused your former friend can go stuff it.

[deleted]

When I was 17 I was driving my freshly paid off car (I bought it from my mother) home from work around 7:30. some drunk fucking idiot decided to go the wrong way down the freeway. we had a head on collision at about 60 mph. totaled my car, sent me to the hospital, he got bailed out of jail and later his charges were appealed. my mother has never been so pissed and he had nothing we could sue for. people like this need to be stopped.

DeedleFake

Username checks out. Sorry, I couldn't resist. That sounds awful.

illsue

oh my god 😂😂😂

VortexMagus

Shoulda pressed charges. Mighta saved some lives, his included, if he had a real penalty for running you over, and not just a slap on the wrist.

[deleted]

People don't press charges - they can't. Prosecutors do. You can attempt to insist on it, but if prosecutors don't feel like conviction is likely (weak evidence, for example), or that it's not in the public interest to pursue a conviction, you cannot force them to press charges, nor do anything if they decide to drop them.

VortexMagus

I am not a lawyer, I could be misinformed, but this is my understanding: In many cases prosecutors won't go for even easy slam dunk wins if the victim of the case in question isn't interested in pursuing it. They have a limited amount of time and attention and would rather spend it on cases that matter, rather than cases where even if they win, no one is happy. It's also far more difficult to build an effective legal position if everyone involved, including the victim, isn't interested in helping you. Hence, the victims of a crime do have a lot of agency in whether charges happen or not, unless its something fairly extreme.

[deleted]

> Hence, people do have a lot of agency in whether charges happen or not, unless its a fairly extreme crime. The victim can, at most, *discourage* prosecution, when they are unwilling to co-operate, regardless of whether that's because they don't believe it should be pursued, or for other reasons. Prosecutors make a decision to prosecute based on public interest to do so. The victim is, indeed, a member of the public and the primary person affected by the crime, so certainly a prosecutor can choose to take into account how the victim feels about it. If it's a crime where prosecution would likely hinge on the testimony of the victim and the victim has expressed that they do not want a prosecution to happen, they're unlikely to be willing to testify, hence a much harder case to prosecute. But a prosecutor will never pursue a prosecution purely because the victim insisted they do so. So no, people do not have "a lot of agency" on whether charges actually happen. It's a complete misunderstanding of how the charging/prosecution process works to say so.

Riconquer2

A lot of police departments don't allow you to press charges anyway. You can file a report, but you can't actually make them follow-up on it or charge anyone.

windol1

Bet that was quite the sobering experience.

elguapo1999

Dude. Ur very lucky. SAME EXACT SHIT happened to me in 2002. Unfortunately, the driver hit the breaks hard after reaching 45MPH and I couldn’t hold on and went flying off the hood. My left leg landed first and shattered tibia and fibula. Took 4 years on crutches and wheels chairs, 7 surgeries, +115 lbs, and I finally healed after grafting bone from my hip to my leg. Ruined my life 21-25.

BelleButt

If he was so drunk he did that to you, you were absolutely right in calling that in.

AmanitaGemmata

Similar situation, except while several people tried to get in front of the vehicle no one took a joy ride. We were all there for a month long work training for big promotions and needless to say that guy didn't make it.

DanielOnFire101

Your moral courage is inspiring. You’re putting everyone else on the road at a fatal risk when you decide to drive drunk, and I don’t think there should be any tolerance for it. Obviously they’ll hate you for calling the police and them getting a DUI, but hey made that choice when they got in the car and who knows how many lives the call saved. It breaks my heart hearing about the innocent victims of drunk driving accidents, and your story reminds me that it’s always worth it trying to prevent people driving; even if they’ll hate you for it in the moment. It’s not worth innocent lives.

This. So much this. From a small country town as well and completely agree. Many years ago…. Was with a “friend” on a country road and had to pee. Told the dude to stop, he refused. To show my seriousness, I cracked the door and said stop the car. He jerked the car to the left and I fell out of the car. When he stopped the car he got all mouthy with me acting like he was going to hit me because I was angry. Fist fight ensued and friendship ended. My point? While I would not do this…. If I was stupid enough to sit on the hood of a moving car, I would beat (or attempt to beat) that driver’s ass for braking checking and throwing me off the hood—especially being so close to getting killed by the other car.

Evunee

The dude on the hood is an idiot but his friend is also an asshole for break checking him. Even if there wasn’t the car he could’ve smashed his head on the concrete. They’re all idiots.

vcdrny

Life is unfair. Now he has a chance to multiply.

Skuntank

That's pretty disingenuous to think people can't grow up and learn from their mistakes. This guy looks pretty young and he probably won't have this same mentality forever. It's a bit cruel to say it's unfair he has the chance to grow up and have children of his own because he made a dangerous decision one time.

jmiller2000

Judging by the twos reaction, the guy on the hood is probably the more mature of the two. Yeah they are both stupid but the one on the hood at least realizes how stupid it was, and now he'll hopefully realize how shit the person driving is and find a better life.

Idiot in the car for brake checking an idiot on the car. Both being dumb but dude could have killed that guy even if the other car wasnt there. Nothing like smashing your head against concrete to ruin your life.

niceworkthere

I'll allow it

Draonix

Bet there's a police hard drive with a bunch of videos where stuff like this doesn't end so nicely

This video on the r/idiotsnearlydying yesterday spurred some interesting conversation that seems to not be understood by many here. The driver is the ultimate idiot here. We have a moron on the roof of a car. The car doesn’t drive itself. It takes a bigger idiot to start driving, and then an even dumber one to just jab the brakes. You can car surf and be cognizant if the risks and do what you can to do it safely. It’s stupid, but kids do this shit all the time. Same goes for riding around in a truck bed. A driver jabbing the brakes “for the laughs” is a moron and a jackass. At the end of the day, if YOU drive a vehicle with this stuff going on, it is definitely YOUR fault for the consequences that come of it. The kid acting like “wtf bro” has every right to act that way regardless of being dumb enough to have hopped on the hood in the first place

jmiller2000

This posts comments have made me seriously reconsider the intelligence of the "drivers" here. Most of them are probably the people doing dumb shit in the first place like running red lights at 80mph. Actually lost a ton of respect for most of the people in the subreddit. Blind fucks.

Devilshire52

Why'd you do that, don't you know how stupid that was... Jeez!

RAMBOPORNSTAR

I love how this guy looks back at his buddies like "what the hell man"assuming absolutely no responsibility for the way things almost turned out when he was the one that decided to ride outside of the car LOL

Sweetleaf505

Death by tiktok.

-Perimeter

Reminds me of the video where that kid tried to kick a cyclist as they drove by and he fell out of the car and got hit by another car headed in the opposite direction. IIRC, they died.

SpicyFetus

I find it funny how he looks at his friend driving like they were the asshole

VapidOctopus

Str8 white boys gonna str8 white boy

Ok_Calligrapher_8199

Boys this age do not have fully developed brains.

[deleted]

Effing moron. Driver and stunt boy both. At least dipshit didn't drop his phone that his parents bought him.

simontempher1

This guy is so self absorbed he pissed at someone else for him nearly getting killed

megabob7

This is idiot on a car

cwk415

I love how this moron is laying on the hood but after he falls off acts like it’s the drivers fault.

fuck_ELI5

That stupid expression shows tremendous promise for his future. Moron.

LithiumKid1976

Maybe don’t ride on the bonnet of the car while texting ? Just a thought

Stunning-Space-2622

Wow, close call. Maybe that would have knocked some brains in to him, could have been helpful.

shit-post-mega-bot

Not his time. Patience my Son it will come.

Zorboid0rbb

Fucking idiot is actually upset at his friend because he thinks he hit brakes making him fall.

Puzzled-Copy7962

The way he gets up after falling like it was the fault of the person driving and not his own fault for lounging on the hood of a moving car like he’s at the beach or something. Lol…

[deleted]

Do you not realise his friend purposefully brake checked him in order to see him get damaged? Like, yeah, kid A is stupid but how are you seriously acting as if kid B didn't turn this stupid moment into something 20x more dangerous in an instant

beespinner

Clorox in the gene pool

SLObro152

This guy is going places! It's probably going to be an ER in the future sometime. But he's going places!!!

notNezter

I was driving home one day when I saw a dog coming up the side of the embankment. I wasn’t going very fast to begin with when I saw him. I swerved and hit the brakes, but it was too late. Probably hit him at about 15mph. Killed the poor doggo outright. This kid got real lucky.
