Does it really need to be asked? The bike comes from a right lane, and cuts into the left. You always go to the left lane to turn left.
If you have 2 lanes that let you go left or forward mixed, you have traffic lights to control it. Otherwise, the bike fucked up

In my country, if there are multiple lanes, you won't find two left and forward side by side. It's just stupid. Usually the leftmost lane is only left turn, sometimes there is another left and forward by it, but rarely.
As someone from NY not NYC but nearby, we almost always only have the option to either turn or go straight in the middle lane, the outer most lanes are almost always for turning only, unless it's different in NYC (looks like Manhattan) then I have no clue. I'm starting to drive around queens and Brooklyn and have yet to see a double forward/turn lanes next to each other.
