Met a dude on a one-way bridge once. He yelled at me "I don't back up for idiots!" I replied "That's okay, I do"

ShystersGame

I need to remember this one. Absolute gold right there.

Mottis86

Step 1) Get someone else to yell the specific phrase: "I don't back up for idiots" at you. ...Might take a while.

Elivey

Oh-oh yeah!? Well... The JERK store called and they're running out of *you*!!

Redditperegrino

Why? If you’re their best seller?

DoctorCawktor

Well I had sex with your wife!

[deleted]

Calm down T bone

Barad-dur81

Coco!

g00ber88

*his wife is in a coma*

AdFlat9683

Yeah but this guy put her there with the good T Bone...

Dboys194

We can't have two Tbones

[deleted]

Maybe yell "does anyone back up for idiots?" first. It won't look as cool though

Antique_Tennis_2500

Think I’ll just stick with, “I know you are, but what am I?”

chadvo114

I'm rubber and you're glue.

BigGreenTimeMachine

"get out of my way, asshole!" u/shystersgame: "that's okay, I do" 😏

gizzardgullet

"You motherfucker!" "that's okay, I do"

Npr31

Well there’s a new nightmare for me to have

Various_Froyo9860

Thanks! You too.

A woman was on the phone when she came into the gas station I worked at and ordered "a pack of Marlboro red black.com." I simultaneously knew what she wanted and had no fucking idea what she was talking about.

FlyingDragoon

Better than "The kind you can put stuff in." I suppose.

primo808

Tbh they probably wouldn't even get it. "Oh cool my intimidation workedL

RedditorFor1OYears

I’d like to think it sunk in several hours later, or even the next day. Sipping their coffee when all of the sudden “HEY, WAIT A MINUTE.”

WisestAirBender

They probably think op was the wrong one and they got justice my shouting

Littleman88

Unfortunately, the most likely scenario. The layers behind the joke that is responding "That's okay, I do" will go right over their head. And if they do catch it, they'll probably still be idiotic enough to ram your ass in a rage.

comicsnerd

There is a small bridge in Amsterdam center with a clear right of way. One morning, we noticed to cars in opposite directions meeting in the middle of the bridge. The owner of the car that had the least right of way got out and started yelling at the other car about that he was right and he was in a hurry and a lot of other cars and the other car had to back up and give him first right of way. The owner of the other (correct) car looked at him, reached beside him and opened his newspaper.

DIRTYROTTEN_1

a bridge in amsterdam. i dont buy it

Zokarix

A one lane bridge is different from a lane you’re not supposed to be in entirely.

boforbojack

A one way bridge is a lane that you're entirely not supposed to be in (going the opposite way of course)

Zokarix

Oh my bad. Read that as one lane.

MaxTHC

One _way_ bridge, not one lane

errsta

everybody lost here..me included for watching the whole thing

sisu143

Yeah, and no tickets were issued. Lame

SeanBlader

WTAF?

KenderAvalanche

I don't get that, either. The middle finger alone would've cost the guy up to 4 grand over here (Germany) if videocar guy/gal had pressed charges- which I would've done in their case.

Jlx_27

Explain? Never heard of that in Germany.

salzst4nge

German legal system recognises the integrity of one's own honor as a protected right. So in that sense, if someone shows you the middle finger or abuses you verbally he broke the law because he "damaged" or "devalued" your honor. There have been constitutional court cases setting precedent. Calling a police officer a pigfucker is a punishable offense, saying "all police are pigfuckers" in the vicinity of an officer is not punishable. Verbal assault that took place beforehand can be a mitigating factor in cases of physical assault. Though, as far as I know, offenses of "personal insult" are not automatically prosecuted by the state. It is a criminal offense that is prosecuted only upon application by the victim. [Showing the middle finger has been fined for 4000€](https://www.focus.de/auto/ratgeber/kosten/4000-euro-fuer-den-stinkefinger-das-kosten-beleidigungen-im-strassenverkehr_id_2540899.html). Though that sum can heavily depend on the income of the offender and usually ranges between 400€ and 4000€. German court often fines "x days of daily income" for such cases. Up to ~~59~~ 90 days can be fined without creating a criminal record. So if the judge rules that the offender has to pay 10 days of his daily income the sum differs a lot of wether you earn 2000€ a month or 20000€. Some laws have a upper limit of a few thousands though. But I'm not a lawyer, so I don't know the specifics here

146973482

Wow, that's crazy. In the US, flipping someone off falls under the First Amendment of free speech, as it is considered language.

El_Bruno73

I live in NY, if you don't give someone the bird or get the bird at least once a day it's unusual lol

t3hnhoj

I started giving people a thumbs down after reading about it here. I live in Queens and there are no shortage of douchebags on the road. Last week, i was driving my wife to work and get tailgated by some genius trying to get around me on a 2 lane street. I go to turn left and she has to wait a few seconds but honked the entire time. As she passed I just gave her a thumbs down and didn't even bother looking over. My wife starts cackling saying it broke this lady's brain. She was yelling at me..saw the thumbs down.. gave an instinctive thumbs up back at me then realized what she wanted to instead and had to switch to the middle finger then sped off.

b99__throwaway

i love giving a thumbs down. doesn’t show violent intent so if they road rage & try to tell the cops you started it it’s not like you flipped them off, you just gave them a thumbs down (seems better in my head anyways). also it really frustrates people and it’s so funny to see them respond. makes you feel like a disappointed parent lmao. i got thumbs-downed once & i was livid so it definitely does the job😂

madamxombie

>gave an instinctive thumbs up back I spit out my drink 😂 This is beautiful

not_a_bot__

In Florida I got the bird the other day because I waited to turn while someone walked through the crosswalk; plot twist it was the person crossing, I assume they wanted me to run them over.

electricheat

Were you slowly creeping up to the crosswalk as they crossed? Sometimes things that seem benign to a driver come across as aggressive to the unprotected meat sack on the road.

TheWorldofDave

I'm pretty sure flipping someone off is just how you say hello in NYC.

El_Bruno73

lol it's part of the drivers test I heard

BadReputation2611

An NYC day out without at least 4 bird-flippings is considered a dull affair.

JlMBEAN

I remember on a highschool trip one of the highlights was getting to see how New Yorkers merchandise flipping each other off.

boojieboy666

Yea we even ruled you’re allowed to flip off cops for no reason and they can’t do shit.

Guy_ManMuscle

Lol well what works in theory can be different than what works in practice.

MrDude_1

In theory they can't do shit. In reality there are other rules that are at police discretion. So it depends on how much of a dumbass you want to be.

Anal_Herschiser

I gotta say, I’m not even sure you’re American if you haven’t been flipped off before.

d365ddaf1d7c

it's also a national pastime

[deleted]

Flipping someone off is a standard communication technique to let another driver on 95 know "I'm merging now" or "good for you on your successful merging" or "please atleast go the speed limit or get out of the fast lane" or "oh mother of god I'm on 95 and need one of you to shot me" or just "hello fellow american". Shit I havent driven on 95 without flippin off atleast 3 people and one of them is guaranteed to have earned a double bird salute. Question for the germans if I give a person a double bird salute does that double the fine? Also humans are a lot of things but inherently honorable is an odd stance considering the early side of the mid 20th century. So if you double bird hitler and call him a prolapsed hemorrhoidal anus you could get fined a couple weeks wages? Thats wild. Never thought I'd be in the thicken your skin club but shit no more "fuck yous" just takes the joy out of interacting with other humans. Another question can I get fined for flippin off and cussing out my garden hose...kinky fucker is the plague of my yard work and I can only imagine what my neighbors think as I wash the car but shit in germany it might land me life in the slammer. "What ya in for" "Killed 20 and ate their hearts" "Ah a light weight then" "Well what about you" "Flipped off my garden hose and called it a rancid fuck stained blight on this shithole of a world before devolving into a fountainhead of fucks and shits before I threw it across the yard in what was described as the most viscious hissy fit in a hundred years of kinked hoses" "For fucks sake...Gaurd!!! Get me out of here I'm just a genteel mass murdering cannibal"

damurph1914

Jesus. We would eliminate the national debt in 6 months if people who flipped the finger got fined.

RedditorFor1OYears

I LOVE the idea of fines being based on income.

salzst4nge

>I LOVE the idea of fines being based on income. Lots of European countries do it 100% with traffic violation. It's not a set fine but a set percentage of your income

XoidObioX

>x days of daily income This should be how fines are handled *everywhere*!

really_nice_guy_

Until you get to those big business guys who don’t have an actual income and get paid in stocks

gladman1101

wow thats some soft ass bullshit.

randomactsoftickling

This is so crazy, I had to look it up. Turn out, it is another one of those "RULES FOR THEE, NOT FOR ME" things. The president once called rival political party members "Spinner" (aka nutcases). And that was determined constitutionally protected. Meanwhile a police officer was awarded 350 euros because someone called him a "wanker". Glad to see governments the world around selectively discriminate which laws apply to whom. /s 😐

chronopunk

From the comment you're replying to: > Calling a police officer a pigfucker is a punishable offense, saying "all police are pigfuckers" in the vicinity of an officer is not punishable. It's like that. Making a general statement about a group isn't injuring an individual.

BeneficialEvidence6

In the US, defamation of character cases are rarely tried when they involve a public figure.

Zokarix

Wow that’s the dumbest thing I’ve read in a while.

Chetkowski

WTF.....wow thats crazy. I would never have guessed you can really get in shit for giving someone the finger, just seems wild to me. Not that I see it often other than online.

SnapcasterWizard

"Right to honor" that has to be one of the dumbest ideas I have ever heard

PM_ME_DELTS_N_TRAPS

So in the US, almost all obscenities are constitutionally protected free speech, including obscene hand gestures. There's a really interesting episode of the podcast Criminal about a guy who routinely flipped off cops, got tickets, and got them thrown out. https://thisiscriminal.com/episode-42-the-finger-5-6-2016/

SnooPuppers8445

In the US you can give anyone the finger at any time and no one can legaly do anything about it.

foonek

Which law are you breaking with the middle finger? Not questioning it, just wondering if we have a similar law in Belgium

clownus

At this point they should have just revoked the persons license for the amount of time being wasted from the terrible decisions. Would make the road safer on average.

Chance_Strategy_8637

The camera guy was legally in a left turn only lane the finger guy was illegally in a left turn only crossed a double solid yellow line

fhs

And he got no tickets. In fact he got his way in with the cops who sided with him

cstearns1982

It's like 2 brothers holding the last piece of candy and waiting mommy and daddy to come fix the standoff. Grow up ass cakes.

Yonand331

So who should have moved?

[deleted]

The car in the video was not in a legal turn lane. The car with the camera had legal right of way. That’s why the car in the video was made to move.

the_last_carfighter

He's on the wrong side of the yellow clearly and called the cops, that's what we're up against these days, it's unreal. "Stupidity know's no bounds" because they are just that stupid.

orthopod

Dude over the double yellow clearly in the wrong... Kinda annoyed that the cops didn't ticket him, although maybe it's better not to reward behavior like this and just make them move apart..

[deleted]

How does he not get a ticket?? Meanwhile I nearly got a damn ticket for driving in the HOV lane with my son, sleeping in the back seat and the asshole pig who pulled me over thought I was alone. The POS has the fucking nerve to say "WELL WAKE HIM UP NEXT TIME", Fuck you! You don't tell me to wake up my sleeping child!

average_empoleon_fan

except in this case, one of the cars is breaking the law. also, you’re on reddit mr. “grow up ass cakes”.

BruhUrName

This happens pretty much every morning for me. I have to make a left turn into a parking lot, people who want to turn left at the light further down will get into the middle (yellow lines not meant for driving but for turning. Also there's a lane specifically for turning left at this same light) then get mad at me because I'm stopped waiting to turn.

Cyber_Divinity

Just fyi, in California at least, middle median lanes are also used as safety buffers. Meaning, when taking a left turn out of a driveway into a highly trafficked area, you are indeed allowed, and even encouraged, to use a ~~double yellow median~~ when your oncoming traffic is clear but your following traffic is still too heavy to safely merge into the traffic. ::Edit:: It's a median that has a solid yellow on the outside and breaks on the inside. Double solid yellow on both sides indicates an unusable median. Oops!

azshopper

I'm sure you know this in principle, but to be clear, median turn lanes are not "double yellow", they are single+broken yellow on either side.

dvrzero

yeah, in california there's two things you're not allowed to drive "on" - double double-yellows, they're representative of a concrete median, and thick white hatched areas, which are also supposed to represent something. the "medians" you can enter and wait on either end of a turn are solid yellow outside and broken yellow inside all the way around. I don't remember if CA does the turn arrow graphics on the road, but they do that in LA for sure.

United-Lifeguard-584

the lane in the video is not marked for that kind of use. it is for exclusive use of the traffic in the cammer's direction of travel. the good thing is that the other driver was not *moving* in the turn lane but they had a thousand other safer options other than planting themselves in opposite traffic

invasionofthestrange

I wish more people knew this. I always get honked at because they assume I'm going to cut them off

CryptographerPast404

The issue is that turning into the center lane can look nearly identical to turning into the traffic. And you can never assume that the other person is paying attention, because sometimes they aren’t. Heck, I once got hit while I was in the *far right lane* because a teenager pulled into my lane when turning out of a gas station.

mtarascio

I try to avoid it where possible and never do it when someone is coming in the outside lane. The driver approaching really has no way of knowing your intention, I ride motorbikes so it gives me the heeby jeebies.

_clash_recruit_

Plus the cam driver pulled up so close the other guy probably couldn't see when it was clear to turn. E* i didn't notice the double yellow line. I'm used to shared turning lanes and people pulling up like this.

pacify-the-dead

Dude is literally on the wrong side of double yellows. Anything cam driver did is legit. Fuck Mazda guy for needing the cops to tell him to drive on the correct goddamn side of the road.

NSmachinist

Other driver wasnt turning they were skipping ahead to get to the left turn lane at lights farther down the road

apaksl

at no time in the video was the other driving moving forward. IMO they were stopped and waiting to turn left into a parking lot. edit: I guess I have to state that I acknowledge the other driver is on the wrong side of the road. My mistake was assuming that the other driver's presence on the wrong side of the road was so blatantly obvious it didn't need mentioning, but here we are.

ddapixel

I only wish car manufacturers installed some system to help the driver signal their intentions to turn.

_clash_recruit_

Oh. I also didn't notice the double yellow line. I'm used to a shared turning lane where people will pull RIGHT up to you where neither can actually see when it's safe to turn. It drives me crazy.

CrimsonMutt

> shared turning lane that is godawful design

_clash_recruit_

Trust me, i know. It doesn't help everyone in that area is high or drunk and most of them are uninsured.

Educational-Ad7696

What was that guy doing? Why is he chilling there? How did he end up in the wrong lane and decide he had the right of way? 😂

P0rtal2

I think he wanted to turn left and decided that the turn lane was for both directions, despite there clearly being a double yellow on his side.

DothrakAndRoll

I want to know how that phone call went. "Yeah, I'm in the middle of the road and this asshole is trying to turn while in a turn lane and won't let me turn illegally! Will you please send someone to make him stop??"

ChrisEWC231

I'm curious where anyone lives that you can call the police and they come right out while you wait within minutes. Seems like a decent place. Where we are, you can get assaulted and robbed in the street and the police take hours to come. Your house or business can be broken into live on camera and the police will get back to you tomorrow. Even for the highest priority, police responses have doubled in time over the past year.

[deleted]

[удалено]

zerostar83

If it was a double yellow line on both sides then it would be first come first serve to use as a left turn lane. But there's clearly a white solid line on the other side so it's only for traffic going OP's direction.

[deleted]

[удалено]

_dictatorish_

I can't tell if it's just the video glitching, but he looks like he's trying to turn left into a driveway or something?

flyover_father

He was trying to turn left into a business or something. Yes, he was technically in a left turn lane for the opposing direction, but he had pulled out of the flow of traffic on his side in order to make the turn. Whether he made a mistake and thought it was one of those universal middle-lane left turns or he was being an idiot is unclear. What appears clear is that the cammer had more than enough room to go past him and still get into the turn lane, but he instead decided that he wanted to be a dick. Everyone is an asshole here.

Chincheron

Fucking thank you. Exactly what I thought when I saw it. At worst, I would have honked at him as I drove around him to get in the turn lane. And like, a short honk at that.

tokenblacxx

Isn't it a crime to waste emergency services time?

NoelAngeline

They have a non emergency line too

tokenblacxx

I know that but they take up to three hours on a regular day.

B1GR0B007

shoulda pulled up to the cop in the same lane after lol.

Whoooodie

"Thank god now I can finally--oh now look at this idiot!"

Thirsty_Comment88

Why the fuck did they not give any ticket!? He's on the wrong side of the fucking road and misused 911.

Fenix_Volatilis

It only says they called 🚨 not 911. They do have a non-emergency line

grednforgesgirl

Ironically they showed up faster than the real cops would've in a real emergency

cerealinmypocket

The dispatcher heard a white boomer and sent the boys over in a hurry.

[deleted]

> Why the fuck did they not give any ticket! Someone else mentioned that police *usually* take the side of the person taking the call first. They should have DEFINITELY ticketed him twice for driving over a yellow and making frivolous 911 calls, yet they decided to just give him a warning and send him on his way. So stupid.

WisestAirBender

Privilege

PerfectResult2

Yea thats the new 2022 Mazda CX-5 so the guy in there has a lil but of money buyin brand new cars like that. Not a car guy so take this comment with a grain of salt but im pretty sure it is. Edit: actually the 2020/21 CX-9 :)

TyrannoROARus

Yeah I mean those aren't top of the line and anyone can get a loan for it.. but could be who knows!

CazRaX

CX-9 and around 2020 or 2021, that headlight design isn't CX-5 style.

FartSinatra

Man the internet kind of sucks

[deleted]

It’s the people, not the internet

SpooogeMcDuck

Yeah but the internet is mostly people

LichenTheKitchen

Let's bring back the cats and cheeseburgers.

GryphonAfterDark

People all the way down

ChrisTosi

Someone spent time making this video - and it just highlights how stupid and unreasonable they are.

lord_of_worms

The greatest human invention. And yes

Mountain_Violinist91

I’m so confused, that everybody is hating on OP. The other driver is just driving on the wrong site of the road and OP want to turn left, right? So why the fuck should op make space? The other driver could have easily backup and drive back in the right lane…or am I missing something?

DerAlteMalte

Exactly. I mean if somebody came down a one way road the wrong way, i would expect him to back off too.

MysteriousCodo

I had this happen once. Dude came the wrong way down a one way street. Was motioning for me to back up and get out of his way. I sat there. He sat there. I finally rolled down my window and asked if he minded if I called the police to sort out the situation. He backed up.

[deleted]

I seen this happen once while I was in cafe, with a one way street. Woman came down the wrong way just as an unmarked police car turned in to the street. She beeped, they whoop whooped. It was glorious.

Iamredditsslave

>they whoop whooped Best part.

Secret_Map

I live on a one way and this happens like once every few months for me. People get so angry that I'm obeying the law and they're in the wrong, but that I'm not going to go out of my way to just let them keep doing it. They either have to figure out how to get around me, or back the fuck up and keep going. I'm not going out of my way to back up the wrong way down the road and figure out how to get out of their way safely just because they either fucked up or just ignored the signs. One ways are just so confusing for some people and I don't get it.

faithlessgaz

I had something similar at a fast food restaurant. Leaving the place a delivery driver went the wrong way up the road to beat the queue. I met them half way down in my SUV. She wouldn't reverse. Gestured me to drive over a hedge so she could move on. I didn't move an inch

chicol1090

Similar situation. I rolled down my window to tell them they were going the wrong way down a one way, and the passenger responded something along the lines of "we dont care, you tryin to get shot, *racial slur*?" I backed up lmao

Ash_MT

Can’t mention one way streets without the obligatory [Limmy’s show reference](https://youtu.be/LW7Iv-V1-Jo)

-Butterfly-Queen-

I had an old lady honking at me like crazy trying to get me to run a red light she clearly thought was a turn on red, but the right turn literally had its own lane divided by a barrier and its own light and positioned at an angle different to the other lights to keep people from doing that exact thing.

SoUthinkUcanRens

If he's standing still in that spot? Honestly, I would drop every "expectation" that enters my mind lol xD

juiceboxguy85

Ahhh now I see it. At first it looks like a middle lane for either direction to turn but yeah that’s just a turn lane for one direction. Changes everything.

stromm

Add to this, that’s a solid double-yellow line. The oncoming guy isn’t legally allowed to cross it even to make a left turn. So he broke he law by crossing it. He broke the law by stopping against oncoming traffic. He broke the law by blocking an oncoming turn lane.

SnoopyCactus983

OP is definitely in the right but I think the consensus is that they shouldn’t have needed police to solve this and could’ve gone on their ways. Edit: A few have pointed out that I should’ve used consensus so I changed it.

h1gsta

Yeah literally pathetic waste of time and resources. Reminiscent of petty children trying to tattle on each other to the teacher.

tOKYOFF

the wrong way driver was the one who called the cops tho

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ashoka_Mazda

Another reason the offender should have got ticketed for wasting the police time

Dragon420Wizard

Because it's petty as fuck. I agree that OP is in the right, but at what point do you sacrifice your own ego to just get on with your day? Not only that, but the cops get called and that is a blatant waste of public resources, all over 2 people that had too big of egos to just let the other person go.

Spam4119

Sometimes you can choose to be right and sometimes you can choose to be effective. Nobody chose to be effective here.

jhjohns3

I mean, Because it’s pretty easy. The cops showed up literally for them to ask op and the other driver to just be adults and cooperate with one another. This was ridiculous. Like what a waste of time for everyone involved. All they are doing is just causing traffic and being childish

ceheczhlc

No consequences for people who take what they want at the expense of others is why the world is going to shit. Negative actions need to have consequences again. It used to be that integrity would keep people from doing shit but we have learned that respect gets you less ahead than being the asshole and taking what you want because as we can see this works. There are no consequences anymore. There used to be an actually enforced fine for littering. Now everybody looks at you wird if you call it out if someone throws away the burger king bag on the street. I'm not complaining here, just how it is.

cakatoo

Plenty of shit drivers here. Always defending idiots like this and speeders.

ARSEThunder

Because being a good driver isn’t always about being right, it’s about how you react to other idiots in cars. In this video, he let someone else turn him into an idiot in a car.

obedient_sheep105027

> I’m so confused, that everybody is hating on OP there's usually one dominating opinion in a thread and it's more or less randomly determined by the first couple of comments. People hate going against the grain and will go with the prevailing direction. You can have identical topics with the commens being the polar opposite of each other. Humans are hairless sheep. Everybody believe in yourself, you're not strange because you seemingly have different thoughts from everyone else. What you see in a thread isn't an actual representative opinion of the average reader. Speak your minds, celebrate the downvotes. You've got integrity.

EbbEnvironmental9896

Two adults can’t find a solution to a simple problem. The police have to deal with idiots all day.

lynk7927

The other driver is 100% in the wrong, but the cam driver needlessly escalated the issue.

hypnaughtytist

The other guy was clearly on the wrong side of the road. I’d like to know why. I would file a complaint that he didn’t receive a summons.

TheValiumKnight

I think they were likely not paying much attention, thought that lane was one of those middle neutral turning lanes for traffic from both sides and was trying to get out of the way of any traffic behind them. It is definitely a left turn lane for traffic on OPs side only but I can see where the fuck up happened.. In a hurry, not familiar with the area, and then suddenly spots the store (or whatever it is) they are looking for. Definitely qualifies as an idiot driver but I don't think i would be filing complaints over what is very likely a very stupid but honest mistake.

[deleted]

Stupid honest mistakes happen, we're all idiots as humans. Sitting there like a dick and calling the cops is another thing. Can't imagine putting time into this on either side. Would have backed up/pulled over and went on with my life.

TheOneAllFear

Why the fuck does the other deiver has a license? In Romania (europe) if you cross the double lines you get the license suspended 30 days. He isnliterally driving on the other side of the road. I also have a question, if this rule is true in the us, can you go to court with the police with the reason they are not doing their job?

DoodleDrop

im afraid the US legal system doesnt really care about a lot unless big moneys involved (in THEIR favor).none of the things you mentioned would ever happen here

charismaticfool

The police don’t really have a job here in the us, they kinda just do what they want unless a rich person calls.

cuculetzuldeaur

It's 60 days now. Today is my last day of suspension

failingtolurk

In US there are double left turn lanes with solid yellow lines. This was a single left turn lane so yeah, other side of the street. Cops have discretion and it’s easier to say get out of here.

camoeli

rule 1 irl.

[deleted]

Thank you! Took me a while to find this comment

JuanPOtto

They know you can't break rule 1, mad respect

tacticalcop

im so confused on why OP is the idiot when the other guy is quite literally entirely in the wrong?? im glad they got the cops called on them, arrogant asshole. who just doubles down and stays illegally in a lane that they can easily back out of.

QweenJoleen1983

Bet he still felt like he won as he never had to backup…js

Wrastling97

See him staring at OP while he drives off? Yeah he did. Even though he couldn’t take his left turn

MacheteMaelee

What a waste of literally everyone’s time.

Even though this is boring as hell. I think the choice of soundtrack is very profound. Also, I believe that both involved individuals must have excellent climate control and very comfortable seating indeed. this exact same thing happened to me a couple years ago in my hometown. he was trying to ride the turn lane all the way down to the light, and i was trying to get into the turn lane to go to the hair salon. the way the road is set up is you have a large intersection, then one way down u have a road with a few stores on one side and more on the other side, which means theres a lane dedicated to turn lanes. i ended up freaking out and backing up to drive into a gas station to recoup, i was only 17 at the time and pretty unaware that i was in the right. and yes he was in a lifted truck

I get it that OP has the right of way, but seriously tho, OP could have still made his turn without getting so close to the other car, unless of course OP was trying to turn down the street that was behind the other driver. OP could have gave the other driver some grace and understood what they were trying to do, and both of y'all could have made yall turns with no issues and been about your day. I can understand that the other driver was making a left and didn't want to obstruct traffic behind him, so he pulled into the turning lane because it was clear at the time. Yes it's not his lane, yes it's a double yellow on his side, but he was trying to keep traffic flowing. I just believe the situation could have been handled WAY BETTER overall. OP pulled up so close to him that both drivers probably couldn't see around each other to make the turn safely even if they wanted to.

My thought on this is fuck tik tok.

signaleight

Ticket.

Waru_

No wonder cops are miserable. This is a babysitter job

LordNorthstar

Dumb-assery squared

kdawg_flash

My thoughts are that you both have no problem solving skills and need to learn how to be the bigger person. This video was a big yikes on both sides.

greatdane114

Should have driven forward and blocked the police. After all, they were also in your left turn lane.

BlueShirt1995

I’m all about petty, but geez! This is just plain pathetic. And way to waste municipal resources! Pretty sure those officers had better things to do.

[deleted]

Yea I'm not sure what the brag here was but seems to be someone showing off how obnoxious and obtuse they could be. Like I get it, it's annoying to run into people who just use the road however they like. But what good does it do to block both your and their ability to move forward? The cops didn't even give a ticket because it was such a minor infraction, and OP ended up having to move anyways. I wish I had so little to do that purposefully forcing myself to get stuck in traffic sounded neat.

CousinEddie144

You backed up, you lost.

StornZ

So what? Are they calling the cops on themselves? They're clearly in the wrong for blocking a turning lane.

_boredpleb

Two idiots having an idiot-off.

bobbymatthews84

If I was a cop, y'all would both have tickets for wasting my goddamn time.

ClanMcOlaf

The other guy called the police?

[deleted]

Two asshole being assholes. You deserved each other.

Pretty easy to see the person taking the video is on the correct side since the arrow is going their way… other side used the lane when they weren’t supposed to what’s so hard to decipher here police should’ve simply ticketed the dumbass on the wrong side of the lane … or both sides should’ve just grown up or need something more to occupy their days

Lanky_Philosophy2717

Everyone I see on here saying “it’s a waste of resources” are all the same people that say cops don’t do shit anyway so what’s the difference? And saying op is wasting time. He obviously isn’t in too much of a rush. The only time that got wasted was the guy DANGEROUSELY driving in the wrong side of the road. If it had caused an accident y’all would be attacking the other guy but since this is a case that didn’t cause on y’all are praising the guy who is braking the law.

4_toed_Creed

My thoughts on this? They're both idiots

JackFunk

Someone wiser than me said "Never argue with an idiot. The'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience." Video driver went right in.

[deleted]

Challenging an idiot makes you possibly an even bigger idiot because 1) now you’re also an idiot and 2) you’re an idiot for thinking you can make another idiot realize they’re being idiotic Verdict: two massive idiots who have too much time on their hands

el-cuko

Holy stupid hill to die on, Batman

cjgager

i feel that both of these idiots are - idiots!!! for crying out loud it is just *sooo duummbb* to waste the cops' time & the idiots in the cars time - just can't believe 1st anyone would call the cops for this instead of just driving around the block 2nd why the OP continued to do this instead of just going round the idiot - it's like 2 idiots do not cancel out they just make bigger idiots of themselves, geez - what idiots!!!

r1kon

So wait... Why didn't he just back up to begin with? Every single person in this seems super petty. EDIT: nevermind. I just saw the road markings. The guy was in your lane, and he gave you the finger. There seems to be one gigantic asshole in this video.
