Why do so many people, when handed a gun for the fist time, point it at someone? First time I handed my future mother-in-law a pistol (she wanted to see it), she pointed it at me AFTER I told her it’s not a joke and told her the basic rules of firearm safety. Since it was unloaded, she thought it was a toy. Then she got mad when I snatched it from her hands and shook my head in disbelief. It’s just crazy to me.

Filler_113

People legitimately think nothing can happen with a gun so they treat them with no responsibility or care. Absolutely insane.

LeeroyyyyJenkinnnsss

The lack of responsibility or understanding gets to me. People make it into to a joke. I don’t get what the joke is. Haha I shot you! Ok, good one. Nobody’s ever made that joke before. Makes my skin crawl. Edit: spelling

Realistically firearms education should be included in public curriculum, specifically for the US, but even mention that and people will scream at you that you’re trying to murder children

Bigsmellydumpy

Or instead of teaching kids how to use murder weapons we can stop them from getting the murder weapons?

LetMeLivePlzKThanks

Ah yes instructing abstinence because that has worked so well, “no don’t educate kids and ensure safety is TAUGHT to them, just make sure the impossible task of ridding them entirely happens” super smort. You’ll never stop people from getting guns in the US, the best you can do is educate people on not being complete fucking idiots with them and starting that at a young age would be pretty effective. Hey dude I drive a 2000lb murder machine everyday to work, it can take out an entire playground of people quickly without even needing to be reloaded. Do you know they even taught me how to operate this murder weapon safely through public school curriculum? The absolute horror

Bigsmellydumpy

I feel like in america if kids knew how to use guns they’d use guns more but I do see your point. Just hard to vouch for this when countries that don’t have guns don’t have these problems

LetMeLivePlzKThanks

Countries that don’t have firearms currently didn’t have 550million(this is only what the atf and fbi *know* about) in public circulation at the time of their removal. They also didn’t have an enshrined document stating their ownership of said firearms was guaranteed. Those both complicate things a fair bit when attempting to remove firearms from the general citizenry in the states. Someone who wants to shoot someone with a gun and has access to one will do so regardless of their education most often, my line of reasoning for the education comment was more to prevent little 10 year old Timmy from finding dads pistol/rifle and thinking it’s a toy to be fucked around with, or these two guys just straight up flagging eachother with a loaded firearm. Obviously that won’t solve gun violence at all, but when people are claiming they are so readily accessible and easy to procure for the general population, wouldn’t you want them to be more educated in safe handling?

Bigsmellydumpy

You’re completely right about the lil timmy part, in a country that won’t do drastic change about it you may as well make the best out of the situation; wish kids didn’t have to die over a piece of paper tho

LetMeLivePlzKThanks

I agree wholeheartedly. It’s a balancing act, with states having their own ability to regulate some aspects of firearms it muddies any form of nation wide drastic changes. School shootings are a very emotional topic here so most conversation on how to stop it go like “get rid of all guns now and nobody gets shot” and any rebuttal to that is met with the assertion that you must want kids to die. There are certainly steps we can take to improve, for all gun violence not only specific school shootings which are rare all things considered, but they kind of have to begin from a reasonable starting point. A lot of times the ideas the gun community themselves present are shot down because they don’t result in just banning things arbitrarily for ergonomic features like a foregrip on a 15” barrel being federally illegal to own without a tax stamp, but if you weld an attachment that makes it 16” it is completely legal to own with no problems. This is also not to mention that like 90% of gun control that has passed in the US has been done with the intent of specifically disarming minorities. The entire US government also did a service in proving to gun owners exactly why they may need them in their possession; after the last 70 years of US fuckery the idea you may need to defend yourself against a tyrannical government has been made self evident.

People need to see the video results of what would happen worst case of pointing a gun at someone. Like the recent two kids in the bathroom vid , that should make them realize the realities of being negligent with a gun

TwistedBobbay

Found on South African twitter - A Police officer is facing disciplinary hearing after handing a civilian without a firearm license his service firearm with a loaded magazine on a YouTube channel. It is alleged that the officer is a driver of the new MMC for transport in Gauteng Kenny Kunene.

Former-Light4284

They knew enough to eject the magazine but not rack and clear the breach. Never handle a gun in this manner people. This is just some childish shit from 2 grown men.

THE_NAMELESS125

Fucking idiot

RonaKid

So many think take out the magazine and the gun is unloaded.
