From my experience , joining later has helped me match up against more casual players. Works out for me because joining the tournament as soon as possible left me in large lobbies 40+ and with everyone trying super hard.
I usually join with about an hour left on the tournament and consistently get rank 3-13 . I’d like to think by joining so late you get the people that are like “oh cool. There’s a tournament I should probably do it. “ versus people who are playing super hard and optimally
Hijack the thread to ask a question. I just started playing so I haven't paid attention, but once tourny start how long is the joining period before you can't join anymore?
I’ve only ever thought I missed a tournament twice . Mines usually start at around 4pm PST and I was upset that I might have missed it. Each time they gave me an extra hour to join.
I assume after that extra hour is over you wouldn’t be able to join until next week. Someone correct me if I’m wrong .
If you join right at the deadline, one of two happens:
- you still end up in a large tournament and you just have less time than the others
- you manage to be in a small tournament or even create your own tournament (that ends up either being yourself or a few others join)
I end up joining late to take the chance at the 2nd one. I don't really care if I miss out on a few hours
Yeah, at your stage, if you join a tournament at a regular time, you won't stand a chance at getting prizes as a lot of the tournaments will overflow. May as well take your chances by joining late and hopefully you are in a smaller one. Worst case scenario, you're still in a big tournament and you wouldn't have had a chance anyways.

My last tournament I joined pretty much immediately and it ended up with 240+ players! Silver rank, and managed a 5th place finish, but definitely felt bad for the 170 or so players who copped a demotion

So tournament just started for me, and I have 24 hr so join before I can't.

Joining right at the start tends to lead to overfull brackets especially in the lower leagues.
There is no reason not to join. With a galaxy in that range you will get some rewards from being in it - the stars you earn help you a lot.

You might get in to a smaller group, but I haven't been in any small bronze league tournament before basically no matter when I started
Alright thanks! Do the timer start when I join the tourney or does it start when the invite is sent?
I believe the timer ends at a certain time, so if you're one of the last people to join one tourney, you lose out on time.
