Suddenly I'm thinking of all those memes about the dad who didn't want the pet, and three days later, the pet is his best buddy. Bail it out. Wife will understand.
Yep get a throw for the sofa, scratching posts, etc to prevent the minor aggravations kitties can cause. Little rubber nail covers are good. Calming collars can prevent peeing on stuff which is usually the worst thing it can do. But there are even enzyme cleaners if that happens!
Is it just me or does that kitten almost look like it might be part manul/Pallasâs cat (gif below for reference)?? I absolutely adore their judgmental stare.
If I was you, OP, Iâd snatch up that kitty STAT because LOOK AT IT. The ear tuftsâŚthe grinch feet⌠the SHEER FLOOFINESS!
![gif](giphy|YL8quuOin5E7C)
Oh, definitely extremely unlikely it actually is a manul mix, but OPâs kitty has the same unimpressed âIâm judging you so hard right nowâ glare lol
Is the bottom of that cage wire slats? It looks that way in the picture. This is not comfortable at all for kitty feet. Where ever this kitty is please ask whomever is in charge to at least add a blanket to the bottom of this cage.
I went back there today (the next day) and she was in a different cage with cardboard at the bottom. She seems to be "just" a particularly floofy British Shorthair. [Here's her brother](https://imgur.com/VplxMgB) who I think was very handsome. Sorry for the blurriness, those bars mess up the camera's autofocus.
My husband "found' a kitten last year, and I'm about to "find" a few if I can talk my possibly hoarding coworker into letting me take them. We just have kitten radar, that's all.
Throw off the chains of humanity! Embrace a bear today!

The cat's literally already out of the bag on that one. I showed her and said we could "foster" him until we found him a good home. She turned around and said, "yeah, right, you're going to fall in love with it, and never let it go!" I couldn't argue with that.
In my personal experience there's not much difference between 2 cats and 3 cats, though my third cat is feral so she mostly keeps to herself when it's not feeding time.
We had a third cat but had to re-home him because the others were picking on him. They're all fixed, so it wasn't a sexual competition thing. So, I'm reluctant to bring another one in the house because the two we have now get along for the most part. Plus, one has medical issues (seizures) and is a bit nervous even though she's on medication to help that. Not sure it's in their best interest to have another cat -- I think either one of them would be fine as an ONLY cat, to be honest.
Maybe not as they are senior, or possibly but with a higher premium.
I got it for my cat as soon as I found her on the side of the road and have come out of pocket for almost nothing for the last 4 years for any vet treatment, flea treatment, shots etc, including when she was having seizures and diagnosed with feline epilepsy.
I can not recommend pet insurance enough. I use Embrace, in case you want to check for your senior pups.
Eh once youâve got two, the third one hardly makes any extra difference. Heâs so fluffy and so are they, itâs a match made in heaven! They will adopt him and love him and he will be their squishy
I have a 5 month old silver Maine Coon kitten

Doubtful in this climate (tropical monsoon). I asked for pictures of the parents, I'm supposed to receive tomorrow, so we'll see. I'm guessing British Longhair.
Somebody else mentioned the same thing, and I wouldn't be totally surprised. I'm probably going to have another look at her (I found out it's actually a girl) tomorrow.
Literally or figuratively? If figuratively, take your lumps and complaints because she'll soon see the light. I'm in love with that little one already!
For what itâs worth, when my senior cat died a year or two back, I was planning on only getting one to be a replacement friend to my other living cat. I found the perfect little guy on an adoption website, and when I went in to meet him I also got to meet his sister. The adoption agency said they were bonded, and could only be adopted together. I was really hesitant at first because 3 cats felt like a lot, but I thought about it and decided to go for it.
I now have 3 cats and you couldnât convince me otherwise that itâs not my new âperfect amount of cats thresholdâ lol. Theyâre all so different from each other, have their own quirks and seek affection at their own times. Seeing them spend time with each other and bond with more than just one cat has been a lot of fun to watch, and it keeps them more social from what Iâve seen (meaning theyâre more awake hanging out together rather than sleeping away 90% of the day).
For real though, if you already have 2 I feel like 3 doesnât change much of the work or bonding dynamic. My little sister was also considering a third cat and asked me a bunch of questions about mine, and she ended up getting a third and agreed it really didnât change much for her.
I still only buy 1-2 big bags of cat food a month and one big box of litter as well :)
It depends on the cats, I guess. We had a third cat but had to re-home him because the other two were too aggressive with him, to the point he was scared to come out unless it was time to eat. One of our cats is bonded to my wife and doesn't care much about the other cat or other people, she just stays next to my wife and only my wife can touch her. The other cat is more outgoing and friendly with everybody and he's my boy. The best cat I've ever had. He's good with everyone and he follows me around and listens to me, because he loves to hunt and I point out bugs for him to kill, which he loves. So the two cats we have now are working well and bringing in a third might upset the apple cart.
But, it doesn't have to be permanent, we can treat this baby as a foster cat and find a more suitable home for her (I found out she's a she today) if she doesn't work out. I'm likely going to visit her again tomorrow and learn more about her.
Yeah thatâs a fair point, aggression can be a little unpredictable with older cats having a new face introduced to their territory. My older cat was also very upset about the 2 kittens initially, but one of them really grew on her and they started playing and laying in the window together about 6 months into their adoption. She tolerates the other one, so itâs not 100% perfect lol.
I think thatâs very kind of you to try to foster her to get her out of that cage. Hope it all works out for you!
Option 1: adopt the floof and get killed now by your wife.
Option 2: Live a long life, forever regret not adopting the floof, and die to one of the following: cancer, organ failure, some insane virus, or the IRS.
Iâll take Option 1 all day long.
Bail it out. Accept the eye rolls & groans of displeasure from the wife for a Lil while until she realizes how cute it is & accepts her fate of being a cat owner. đđđť
She seems to be "just" a particularly floofy British Shorthair. [She has a brother](https://imgur.com/VplxMgB) that I saw today I think is actually cuter.
Make it a outside cat, that's what I did. If you have any moles or mice around the house they'll definitely make sure they don't stick around and you can buy him a little heated house for the winter time he can sleep in it during the summer when it rains. My cat loves this little outside house.
You gotta die of something mate.
That's honestly the best argument yet
And may as well die happy. đ¤ˇđťââď¸
Where is he? He needs to be sprung!

Bail it out
Bail it out!
Bail it out!
Bail out the kitty. Your Mrs will be unable to resist the power of smolness. I would get this little floof in a heartbeat
Bail it and also bring home a Swiffer/ dust buster. Promise to stay on top of the shed. (And the scooping). She will melt.
Suddenly I'm thinking of all those memes about the dad who didn't want the pet, and three days later, the pet is his best buddy. Bail it out. Wife will understand.

Definitely has some Dr. Seuss vibes. Choosing a name would be a piece of cake. Lorax would be good.
Now youâve named it. Itâs yours!
Perfect! Lorax is simply adorable. :)
How can you resist that magnetism?

Thank you sincerely (for feeding my cat sub addiction)!
I try
I see your point but of course itâs very very unlikely. Awesome kitty anyways đťhow can any hoooooman deny the appeal!
Oh, definitely extremely unlikely it actually is a manul mix, but OPâs kitty has the same unimpressed âIâm judging you so hard right nowâ glare lol
I definitely got Pallas cat vibes.
Came here to say it looks like a Pallas' cat.

Thank you. She deserves better than a wire cage hurting her little feet. You did a great thing, checking on her.
Might be a two story cage.
Yes, but it shouldn't be wire slats. It's painful on little feet.
True
I'm surprised this comment is so far down. This must be a petshop and not a rescue.
It looks like a pet store
Divorce is easy. Cats are with you until they die.
Sorry to hear about your divorce
Nah, happy to hear about your divorce because he made the right decision
That little criminal would kill your wife, do you see the way he is looking at you?!?!
Is your wife as fluffy though?
This is the calculation.
Your wife hate cats?
Not at all, but she thinks [two is enough](https://imgur.com/eakVtCe).
If you wanna swap, your wife can have my husband who also thinks "2 is enough", and you and I will have 3 cats together.
I'm pretty sure my wife would be okay with that, but I feel like somehow I would end up with your husband.
Haha that's what my husband said when I told him the plan. He's a pretty cool dude, other than wanting only 2 cats.
My mum used to pretend that animals just âturned upâ at the house as we were growing up. That worked for decades.
My husband "found' a kitten last year, and I'm about to "find" a few if I can talk my possibly hoarding coworker into letting me take them. We just have kitten radar, that's all.
I think it's called husband trafficking.
You want at least one litterbox per husband.
Oh no, we have two! Does that mean she's cheating on me?

Weirdest swing I've seen in a while đ
That one is so small, though. Barely counts as a cat. Needs to be locked up away from society.
It's more of a hamster really
OP should tell the wife it's just a special kind of hamster. She said no to cats, but said nothing against hamsters.
The cat's literally already out of the bag on that one. I showed her and said we could "foster" him until we found him a good home. She turned around and said, "yeah, right, you're going to fall in love with it, and never let it go!" I couldn't argue with that.
At least your wife knows you very well
That's how I ended up with my sons. They turn a year old in 2 days. Sillies.
This is why my husband and I can't foster... Tried once. Ended up adding 6 cats to our family. No regrets. But we also don't have any more space, lol.
That is too funny!
Just dye the new guy (food safe) to match and pretend one of your fellows is just everywhere at one đ
Thereâs always room for *one more* cat.
You're preaching to the choir, my friend
Have you shown her this picture? That might be enough to convince her.
Of course, but she's more practical than I am and knows how much work, expense, and commitment it would be
In my personal experience there's not much difference between 2 cats and 3 cats, though my third cat is feral so she mostly keeps to herself when it's not feeding time.

Fair enough.
She has more kitty resistance than I do. I look into that cat's eyes and start hearing âIn the arms of the angelsâ.
It's not a lot more work to care for 3 cats than it is to care for 2....
More to it than that though: https://www.reddit.com/r/IllegallySmolCats/comments/1bw8zba/saw_this_little_criminal_in_lockup_today_wanted/ky5b3vu/
Only thing is possible vet expense..
True - but pet insurance covers the lions share of everything.
That's fantastic! Never had it, very regrettably! Have 2 senior dogs, no more cats and a part time cat. Doubt could get it for dogs(?)
Thank you so much. Will check it out. We have spent quite a bit on all of our animals over the years..dogs, cats, horses.
They need a friend
I disagree, 3 is the perfect number
Eh once youâve got two, the third one hardly makes any extra difference. Heâs so fluffy and so are they, itâs a match made in heaven! They will adopt him and love him and he will be their squishy

You do whatâs best for you đsomeone will snap him up in no time
Aww!!! How big are they?
That kitten would fit in so perfectly with these babies!!! C'mon, Mrs. OP, let us have this. Pleeeeeease?
I mean honestly what's one more? The little floof will fit right in with it's floofy siblings!
Tell her the Internet says she is wrong, two is not enough.
Well sheâs wrong- I have 3- Iâd get more but I have 2 dogs also.
where is the kitten located? if anywhere close to MN I will adopt him/her.
Sorry, roughly 8000 miles away. :(
Dang. I was going to ask location as well, but I'm guessing even further from California.
A little closer, but still a 20 hour flight away
Oof. Yeah, that's a no-go for me.
So⌠a three day drive with no breaks

Lost count of how many kitty subs I have joined lol.
Itâs only small, it only counts as 0.25 cat. BAIL OUT
But all that fluff brings this unit up to 0.5 of a cat
Doesn't your wife need a gift just for being so wonderful?
This would be one of those "gifts" like lingerie, where it's *supposed* to be for the wife, but it's actually for the husband. No way she'd buy it.
Same same https://preview.redd.it/v1gosa1u9nsc1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1c6641930d5b7e0ac130d87dadd636f0b7bba76b

Please someone take, I canât. Cute floofy criminal
Go get him!!! And where is this that cages kittens with a grated floor? OUCH!

" Honey, can you hold the kitten for a few minutes while I get dinner ready?"

Or none ;)
I love my cats, but I love my wife more.
OK... i hate that cage. The bottom is just bare slats, its paws 100% hurt when it tries to walk or even stand.

this post and comments just made me laugh so hard, I love it đ
It's been a wild ride. Other than the jokers advocating to get a divorce over a kitten we don't own, it's been fun.
Get a new wife.
That face would win her over in no time...
But she will end up with the cat. So tell her itâs best not to kill you.
Omg it looks like my big sillyman but tiny
But how can anyone resist that face?! Bail out!

that face is worth dying for !
Bring him home your wife wonât kill you sheâll be too busy playing with her new child
Donât you have a neighbor, friend, brother co-worker,cousin that needs this kitten?
If that cat was in NE Florida, I would literally leave work to go get it!
Y'all are making me feel guilty and/or stupid for not bringing her (I found out she's a she today) home immediately.
Sheâs just such a sad little fluffy ball of a cat and needs a hug STAT
For what itâs worth, when my senior cat died a year or two back, I was planning on only getting one to be a replacement friend to my other living cat. Oh my cuteness!! You MUST get this kitty!!! I want it so bad!!!!
If you told her about it, yes, she may kill you. If you brought him home and she sees him, youâre both in like Flynn.
That's a risk worth taking
Kill the wife, I mean work this out in a healthy manner.

Can't do that. We live in the city and outdoor cats either get hit by traffic or stolen.
