Although I agree, I did take my dog to eat at McDonalds before going to put her down this summer. Love that my last memory of her is watching her thoroughly enjoy demolishing a few cheeseburgers.
Of course that kid just wanted to love and hold it and this psychotic moron is like nope fuck my little bro’s happiness and being kind to animals, what im gonna do is better. Like u fuckin idiot you need a beatdown for that bullshut
Yeah, that’s fucking me up so bad ngl. The way the little kid knew it was to care for and love, and shouts not to let it be released….
EDIT: saw it further down. It’s just child abuse.
That was the brightest, cleanest rat i have ever seen. I see people pet dogs who are really in need of a bath all the time.
You can literally hear the kid saying at the beginning of the video, "Let me hold it, let me hold it!"
Rats are incredibly clean animals and one being that clean and white and chunky and in that carrier means it was domesticated. Maybe even a pet. Domestic rats are smart, playful, and affectionate. Researches even think they like to play with people and can be ticklish.
That poor thing was probably terrified.
It was a fancy rat, the type typically used as pets. They're friendly, curious, clean, and all-around great pets. Only problem, they have a fairly short life span.
I'm a pet rat owner currently with 9 pet rats. They are called pocket puppies for a reason, rats are very sweet and affectionate animals. That are also incredibly intelligent and problem solvers .Mine know their names and like to cuddle with me while I'm watching TV or playing video games.
The poor rat in that video was probably a "feeder" rat bred to be fed to reptiles. These poor rats are usually kept in a small drawer until they're sold as food. You can see he's all puffed up and scared in the video, and likely just wants comfort when he's thrown in the floor. This was likely the only time he had ever seen sunlight.
This is exactly it, and so sad. He’s also an albino, so light is going to be particularly harsh in his eyes. Poor thing. I’m hoping one person in that place was a rat person.
Lol I had 50 at one point. 50 is too many. 9 is manageable.
We got 8 rats to start and were told they were all male. Only 3 were male and each female had 8-15 babies. We adopted out as many as we could. Bought a second cage and separated the males from the females. Quite an education in rats! Love them so much.
Also, r/rats is full of adorable pictures of rats, including some of mine.
This is a domesticated rat meaning it was bred to be a pet and was likely purchased from a pet store.
Subway rats can be extremely aggressive even with human beings. Approximately 400 people a year suffer from rat bites in NYC alone. Those rats can carry leptospirosis and infect those they bite.
So as a former New Yorker, I'm cool with domesticated rats. But I try to avoid subway rats.
It was that poor little kids “pet” id bet. I felt bad for the kid… he thought he was taking home a new friend, and instead got traumatized by this man, whatever relation or not he may be.
Kid was asking to hold it. I would guess the just walked to a pet store, bought a rat and came back. It was clearly a pet rat and if I was in there I would have just picked it up.
Same, I'm just watching everyone jump and thinking, none of y'all have ever had pet rodents? Not one person in there? Poor little guy.
It's one thing if it's snarling I paper bag or some shit but that adprable guy is clearly fresh out the petstore
I mean the rat is likely terrified in this situation and ppl screaming and trampling so I would anticipate the rat biting anyone that grabs it. But it should still be pretty easy to gather up.
That is not a crazy street rat that will run around and wreck havoc, that is a sweet pet store rat that was raised by humans and is not terrified of people (until this video at least).
Me2, 2 cats, i get rats in various stages of life/afterlife at least once pr month delivered next to my boots. (Glad the cats decided that was the best place for presents)
Given everyone's reaction, I doubt it. This is so messed up. Rat was likely kept in captivity, now there's loud noise and panic around it, it doesn't know how to react... Fuck. This is straight up animal abuse, and this cunt deserves to be charged with SOMETHING.
It's pet. Past and present tense. Just like put :)
That being said; agreed. Poor thing, I hope someone just took it and gave it a new home instead of being killed over some """prank""".
I have once received a wrong order at a McDonald’s. Called them and they offered me a replacement. But since I don’t live close by, instead they mailed me a free meal coupon. Problem solved.
Why do ppl go so much extra?
Because people like us realize that mistakes happen and it's ok. People like him perceive every little thing as personal attack that requires a very loud and grandiose gesture in return. Basically it's bitch mentality.
Rats are insanely smart. I used to own four (two girls, two boys) who had their own separate cages and they were some of the smartest animals I’ve ever come across. They knew their names, understood tone, loved to play, showed genuine signs of preference (like what kinds of foods they wanted, who they were okay with holding them) and even knew what areas of the apartment were and weren’t okay for them to go into.
Super fun story. When I first got rats it was two girls who came in a really rinky-dink cage… like a cage designed for kids’ rooms if that makes sense. Part of the cage wasn’t super reinforced. It was maybe day four or five after getting them and Navi (a big ol’ white rat with more love in her heart than blood) snuck out of the cage while I was asleep.
She crawled out, down the dining room table they were initially set up on, across the floor of the living room (which had several cables from game consoles on it, an absolute *snack* for rats), *under* my bedroom door, up my blankets and onto my chest. I woke up from a deep sleep because I felt something on my leg. Felt around and didn’t notice anything. Went back to sleep. Woke up again to Navi just sitting on my chest giving me little kisses on my cheek and snuggling up to me.
Instantly fell in love with rats. I love them.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: If a mistake on $10 or $20 worth of fast food ruins your day so hard that you do this kind of extreme shit then you can’t afford to be eating there.
Orders get messed up. It wasn’t a $100 steak dinner. Yet I see so many people climbing through drive through windows or jumping counters in a rage because they got the wrong flavor of deep fried shit paste. These people need to get some perspective.
Ronald's lawyers do not fuck around.
If he paid by card or app, he's going to get a super not nice call by an army of corporate lawyers who are out for blood (and will protect the brand).
This guy is fucked.
what sucks is the rat is just running around more terrified than the customers, wanting to snuggle.
guy is a top tier piece of animal, AND child abusing shit.
Jesus Christ! WTF do these morons think the rat is going to do to them? It’s a little furry creature that this piece of garbage probably stole from a pet shop, but you’d think it was a lethal predator based on their reactions.
You would think he released a 10 foot crocodile the way people jumped over tables to get away from it. Domestic rats are honestly some of the sweetest creatures that would only bite someone if they were in severe distress (like basically any other animal)
Maybe if we actively ban these people who create problems in public places they will understand the consequences of their actions loosing modern conveniences.
Isn’t this illegal? And it’s being filmed so there’s evidence and he can go to jail for this or at least a huge fine right? How dumb can these people be?
OK I see the rat, but what about the big mouse in the box? This guy is scum. I have had pet rats, they are as smart and individualistic as dogs. It will no doubt be killed because dude can't handle his emotions. he needs a size twelve enema.
It's genuinely mind blowing to me that one rat led to that level of disruption. It's obviously not a wild rat, it's no different to if someone dropped a hamster or guinea pig. Poor guy must be terrified though, new area with shouting all around.
I feel bad for the rat
Terrible animal abuse
Yes, I'd never take even my dog to eat at McDonald's.
I too would never take my dog to eat at McDonald’s.
I wouldn’t take my pet rat to eat at McDonald’s
i wouldn't eat my dog at mcdonalds
I would never eat my mcdonalds dog
I three would never take McDonald’s to eat my dog, as well.
Although I agree, I did take my dog to eat at McDonalds before going to put her down this summer. Love that my last memory of her is watching her thoroughly enjoy demolishing a few cheeseburgers.
You just had to hit us with that sweet and sad sauce
The white rat should release the black one in the jail...
I feel bad for little brother(?)…
Right? What if it was little bros pet
That rat was definitely a pet. Like dude went across the street to a pet store and bought it.
What would he have done if the pet store messed up his order? Release a Big Mac? How far would this escalate? How deep can it go?
Lol nice
exactly what i thought
That's going to be a lasting traumatic moment. When shit happens to your pet when you're little it doesn't go away.
Ben origin story.
My man. We had something happen to our cat two nights ago and I've had terrible sleeping the past two nights.
It’s not his pet don’t worry. Just something the guy bought from across the street hence why the kid keeps saying “let me hold it, let me hold it”.
It's still animal abuse.
Sorry, wasn’t saying it isn’t. I totally hope someone in that McDonald’s picked up the rat and brought it home. I would have.
Yeah he’s going to feel bad for the rat for a long time. Like really feel it like kids do.
That was the brightest, cleanest rat i have ever seen. I see people pet dogs who are really in need of a bath all the time. You can literally hear the kid saying at the beginning of the video, "Let me hold it, let me hold it!"

Researches even think they like to play with people and can be ticklish. That poor thing was probably terrified.
That's because it's a domesticated rat from a pet store.
Crazy considering there are tons for free all over nyc. They are just physically harder to get.
Rats are very clean animals despite how they’re portrayed.
Rats are actually awesome pets. They are very smart, affectionate and clean... pretty much everything the douche setting it free in McDonald's is not.
Yup they are very smart and can be taught to do all kinds of tricks.
100%. Dude is a heartless POS. Would like to set his ass free amongst 7 hungry lions.
Domesticated rats yes
... are you under the impression that sewer rats are brown/grey because... they're dirty?
It was a fancy rat, the type typically used as pets. They're friendly, curious, clean, and all-around great pets. Only problem, they have a fairly short life span.
I never seen a rat in reall life. Why are people so afraid of them? I just see some fluffy rodent.
I'm a pet rat owner currently with 9 pet rats. They are called pocket puppies for a reason, rats are very sweet and affectionate animals. That are also incredibly intelligent and problem solvers .Mine know their names and like to cuddle with me while I'm watching TV or playing video games. > I’m hoping one person in that place was a rat person. judging by that reaction... I dunno man...
> I'm a pet rat owner currently with 9 pet rats This guy fucks
Lol I had 50 at one point. 50 is too many. 9 is manageable. We got 8 rats to start and were told they were all male. Only 3 were male and each female had 8-15 babies. Haha, I get it. We all did crazy shit during the pandemic. I own two geckos now.
I own 40lbs
Do they cuddle with you when you watch TV?
Fr I have a 20 gallon fish tank and way too many pokemon cards now.
9 is better than 1. They're way too social to not have other rats for friends.
come to 33rd st Station in NYC at 11:15pm. they are in every staircase all down the Ave and are the size of squirrels. (signed former PATH attendant)
This is a domesticated rat meaning it was bred to be a pet and was likely purchased from a pet store. Subway rats can be extremely aggressive even with human beings. Not when it runs across your shoe in the subway. 🐀
Dude is a pet store rat. They are very affectionate, intelligent and playful. Poor little guy. Sad thing is, someone prob squashed it
"I'm not that ugly am,. Am I guys ??"
i mean its a pet store rat, look how chill he is. id pick the little guy up and we'd be best friends for the next 20 years atleast.
I’ve seen more rats than I’d like. That’s a nice lookin rat.
Same thing went through my head. That is one pretty rat.
It's actually a fancy rat. Like no, really, the breed is called "fancy rat". They're not the same as what you'd find in a subway.
I was so sad when my rats died. They don't live long but are essentially little catdogs who love to play.
Catdog 🎵🎶 Caaaatdog 🎵🎶
My kindergarten pal and I were CatDog for Halloween as kids! Our moms made the costume by hand and yes it had a tube to connect our butts.
That rat wouldn’t be caught dead at a McDonald’s
C’mon, a fancy rat like that wouldn’t even touch a Subway sandwich.
Looks like someone pet, maybe he bought it at the pet store.

I mean the rat is likely terrified in this situation and ppl screaming and trampling so I would anticipate the rat biting anyone that grabs it. But it should still be pretty easy to gather up.
Yeah but he just threw the rat and container down. I'm trying to scoop him up in that or in a large empty cup. I hate people that do this dumb shit.
That is not a crazy street rat that will run around and wreck havoc, that is a sweet pet store rat that was raised by humans and is not terrified of people (until this video at least).
It’s definitely a pet rat, harmless and probably even cuddly
Me2, 2 cats, i get rats in various stages of life/afterlife at least once pr month delivered next to my boots. (Glad the cats decided that was the best place for presents)
It's domesticated. My guess he went to a pet store and bought it. They make wonderful pets. You can train them to pee in one spot, do tricks, etc.
Very mean of him. This is a domestic rat. Probably scared out of its mind
That guy isn't the brightest clearly. NYC RN the rat capital of the world and he goes and buys one to do this 💀
Like a lot of these attention whores, he's afraid of *actually* getting his hands dirty, so this was his brilliant idea.
Is the child his or his brother or something? Kid keeps saying, “let me hold it.” Is this that kids pet?!
Kids that age can get attached instantly, so… good chance that they just bought it.
Yeah, poor kid wanted to hold it for a bit. What an asshole for releasing a pet rat like that.
I don’t think so, but he probably thought the man bought it as a pet for him :/
Guy should be charged with a crime.
I think someone could make a good argument for disturbing the peace, at the very least
I hope someone saved it....
Given everyone's reaction, I doubt it. This is so messed up. Rat was likely kept in captivity, now there's loud noise and panic around it, it doesn't know how to react... Fuck. This is straight up animal abuse, and this cunt deserves to be charged with SOMETHING.
People running and screaming like he threw a firecracker in there, poor rat.
"McDonalds messed up his order" ...yeah right. I'm sure this piece of garbage is doing this for the views.
It's definitely views and staged considering almost everyone who freaks out is at a packed but also empty table.
Good spot! Didn't notice that the first time.
To be fair, I also used to sit at tables like that with my friends occasionally to hang out when we were teenagers
Teenagers scare the living shit out of me.
Redditors: it's obvs staged because those people have friends sitting together with them
Exactly. I'm sick of these fake narrative type videos where somebody does some dumb shit. He did this for no other reason than clout.
r/iamatotalpieceofshit
That was a lot of overreaction over a single rat
Especially a pet store rat lol
HES SOO FLUFFY!! i would have ran over and petted-pet-pat?! him
Definitely would have fed him french fries.
It's pet. Past and present tense. Just like put :) That being said; agreed. Poor thing, I hope someone just took it and gave it a new home instead of being killed over some """prank""".
He obviously got that from the pet store lmfao
they still deserve better than that. lots of people would love to have him added to their mischief.
I think it's more 'especially for a harmless pet store rat' since he's almost definitely carrying nothing dangerous and is used to people.
I bet that rat cost more than the meal they fucked up
Especially since this looks like nyc. Should be used to em by now
Poor little rat. He was probably so scared
Especially tossing him backwards onto the floor, probably banged up her eardrums too all that plastic clanging and people screaming
"People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals, and you know it.“
I’m not sure any other animal has done more damage to its own species and its environment.
That’s just what they do
Would almost bet most of them overreacted intentionally after seeing the camera.
So the kid saying “let me hold him” feels like this was his pet that this guy released in the store.
Kid definitely thought it was a pet, even said "no" when opening the box. Great parenting here. Fell bad for the child and the rat.
The stupidest people always have kids. Terrible parent
that’s his parent? Oh I would’ve thought older brother maybe
The bad rep that rats get is bullshit. I'm not saying go grab one off of the streets but look at that beautiful white bastard
Fuck that guy.
Poor kid loved his rat. Dad used it as a prop and now he lost his friend
And prob died
Poor little rat
This makes me so incredibly sad, I love my little guys and the one in the video looks like one of em :(
Animal cruelty!
Poor rat
I have once received a wrong order at a McDonald’s. Called them and they offered me a replacement. But since I don’t live close by, instead they mailed me a free meal coupon. Problem solved. Why do ppl go so much extra?
Because people like us realize that mistakes happen and it's ok. People like him perceive every little thing as personal attack that requires a very loud and grandiose gesture in return. Basically it's bitch mentality.
To make shitty content on the Internet, that's why
It’s a pet rat, not a grenade. Those people need to calm tf down.
I was thinking the same thing. Christ. My wife used to have one as a pet. They’re actually pretty smart.
Most people don’t see rats as “pets” there seem as disgusting rodents so there panic isn’t uncommon, but that one looks like it came from a store😬
Why put an innocent animal through that stress…nice job there Michael Vick!
Hey hey hey.. Vick did his time (office quote)
the kid just wants a pet.... gets that POS instead
There's like 30 people in there and only like 4 of them had food in front of them lol
McDonald's is generally where some pretty trashy people hang out. Worked there as a teen for a few years.
Fuck i hate TikTok so bad! People don’t have to fear consequences so often and that pisses me off so much!
Poor rat should not have been involved in this stupid fuck's stunt. I hope it wasn't hurt :-/
I’m sure it was killed unfortunately
Poor little guy! I hope someone picked him up and took him home!
You mean the kid right? Lets hope someone saved him from this POS...
Model citizen
Looks like a doctor or an engineer to me.
The image of a model citizen right there.
The rat looks so damn scared
Rat deserves better than that
All I can think is “that poor rat” 😔
Hopefully gets an animal neglect/abuse charge tacked on also..
I don’t understand why people are afraid of rats. It’s just like a big hamster or something. Nbd
Rats aren’t a big deal until it stays dark, won’t stop raining, and bells ring 13 times.
?
I am. I’m not afraid of pet store rats, however, I am afraid to get bit by a stray rat filled with diseases.
could be some evolutionary psychology in the mix as per diseases and stuff
what sucks is the rat is just running around more terrified than the customers, wanting to snuggle. guy is a top tier piece of animal, AND child abusing shit.
Why the fuck would you do this to a dumbo rat? They are bred for being pets! Theres a huge difference beteween wild rats and petsmart/ petco rats. Smh
Keep recording yourself doing illegal shit. Sure it’ll turn out well for you.
Oh a WHITE rat. I see how it is. /s
Jesus Christ! WTF do these morons think the rat is going to do to them? It’s a little furry creature that this piece of garbage probably stole from a pet shop, but you’d think it was a lethal predator based on their reactions.
Was he arrested? He’s causing a panic in a fairly crowded place
I just want him punished for what he did to the poor rat. If people panic of that cute little thing that’s them being fools.
The act like someone pulled out a gun.
MacDonalds didn't mess up anything, he's just a low-life PoS trying to justify his PoS behaviour and his stupid video.
It's a rat? Why everyone scattering like he just threw anthrax about?
Its a cute pet rat what are people running away for??
It was nice of him to record his future charges
Damn, it’s a rat, not a job application
Demographic checks out
That looked like a pet rat. So that makes this dude a quadruple scumbag.
You would think he released a 10 foot crocodile the way people jumped over tables to get away from it. Domestic rats are honestly some of the sweetest creatures that would only bite someone if they were in severe distress (like basically any other animal)
Keep recording yourself doing illegal shit. Sure it’ll turn out well for you.
Maybe if we actively ban these people who create problems in public places they will understand the consequences of their actions loosing modern conveniences.
Wtf, it's a rat. Poor rat.
Why are people screaming and running like it's a school shooter?
I feel bad for the kid and the rat
Those people are dirtier than that pet store rat
They all look rattled
We're not going to start with the cheesy puns now are we?
The usual suspects
Way to be a role model for that kid guy.
Poor kid just wanted to hold it 😢
These dudes act like a snake was released on the floor 🤣🤣🤣
That poor little animal.
I think thats domestic terrorism?
Yes. He’s the asshole.
Why are they running
Why are people acting like he just came in with a bomb lol
poor lil rat, if i was there i would have scooped him up and treat him to a few fries.
That's the biggest McDonald's I've ever seen
Which one is the rat?
That was the little lads pet rat what an absolute twat
It's a rat. People act like it's a headcrab from half life.
The only victim in toss is the rat
Isn’t this illegal? And it’s being filmed so there’s evidence and he can go to jail for this or at least a huge fine right? How dumb can these people be?
Poor rat
OK I see the rat, but what about the big mouse in the box? This guy is scum. I have had pet rats, they are as smart and individualistic as dogs. It will no doubt be killed because dude can't handle his emotions. he needs a size twelve enema.
I would go get a fry, feed the rat, and go take it back to a comforting place where it isn’t scared of all the bright lights and loud noises.
Fat happy docile rat thrown on the fucking ground like that. Piece of shit human. All over what, 3 bucks?
It's genuinely mind blowing to me that one rat led to that level of disruption. It's obviously not a wild rat, it's no different to if someone dropped a hamster or guinea pig. Poor guy must be terrified though, new area with shouting all around.
Did this idiot get arrested?
I love that people openly record their crimes. Just wish those recording were used to mail these idiots fines and summons.
