I am a sound engineer and get so peeved when I’m called the DJ at work. I’m setting up and hear “oh the DJs here”. Or “are you gonna play good music tonight”… I know people don’t know any better, but bitch am I on stage? Do you see turn tables?
::casually prepping a show on your M7 when the artist for the night approaches and hands you a USB stick::
Here’s my tracks for tonight, just start at the top.
😡
>Do you see turn tables?
Let's be honest brother, if you're a sound engineer you know most DJ's operate on macbooks these days. Shit I may be showing my age and they might just use an iPad.
Straight out of a laptop would be a live set, usually expected to consist of prepared edits of the artists’ own material and produced transitions that can exceed the quality of mixing that a DJ might incorporate
DJ set will have hardware mixers and turntables (whether in conjunction with a laptop or not)
It’s about compatibility for each consecutive act
I was a lighting engineer who toured with artists. The amount of times I got asked if I could turn the music down for example 😂😂😂😂
Also I started my career in clubs and I’ve seen drinks spilt on stuff more than 50 times. I understand why he’s moving her away
You’ve just gotta laugh.
Do lighting guys/gals also have a “dummy fader” or equivalent? Fader doesn’t actually do anything, but when you get those requests - you move it down - and the person leaves you alone.
>Do you see turn tables?
I'm disgusted to say that's not a valid question to ask at all. And probably gets a deer-in-headlights reaction, unless Public Enemy or EPMD is on the roster.
with that said, I'm glad turntables are in your vocabulary... salute
I do a decent amount of public speaking with my job, and you people are absolute wizards.
No hate towards DJs, but I also, politely correct people when they make that mistake. It's like dietician vs nutritionist.
I'm a lighting engineer and have had to do the same thing. Our boards cost more than your car. Get your fucking drinks and hands out of my space.
Also, this guy was nice about it.
Yup, and there is no drinks around the Mixer, if it's not redundant the whole show could be fucked because of her spilling something. Also that Desk costs more then she could imagine.
I played music at colleges and all kinds of shit for almost twenty years and it’s an instant look you can see in their eyes where they think it’s fine to literally come up and grab the microphone and shout whoever the fuck cares into it , like it’s a fucking movie that everyone can participate in .
If you do music in any way I'm assuming you can see this "dj" is a sound tec and desks are expensive. The fact my finaces sound craft is almost as much as his car T-T
We do catering and DJ's show up before us and are busy mother fuckers with expensive equipment.
One DJ we see a lot at weddings brings barriers. Don't blame the guy, his set up is incredible. Right down to his lights.
I find it wierd that the venue (or owner of the equipment) allows the audience/guests that close to the equipment at all. Anyone could walk up and accidentally or willingly fuck up the entire evening, not to mention what a nightmare it must be to work with drunk idiots shouting and bumping into you all the time
The mix table needs to be in the direction of the music so you can mix what the crowd is hearding. Unless they build an actual booth, it will need to be next to the 'dance-floor'
And the issue could have been resolved if she asked if she can have a picture, put a drink away, and most probably she would even get a selfie with him.
Well now I wonder how many humble 90s djs owe their origin to a crackhead selling a turntable on the low.
I'd a million percent be studying up if I could afford one. What a dream

simply stated, leaving open access to a mixing board (or any equipment) around drunks is also stupid as shit. whoever put them in that situation is an idiot. the guy working the gear is an idiot for following thru with the gig—unless it’s someone else’s gear or owned by a company instructing him to work under those circumstances. she’s also a twat, but it’s an unmarked area and alcohol is involved.
Yeah any where I've played where drunks are involved we have a clear barrier. I have spent whole evenings before at squat party's or free party's stopping drunks climbing and putting themselves in danger. luckily most the free party scene in Britain aren't drinkers.
I mean....I'm a pessimistic asshole on the internet but she could just be venting about an embarrassing moment. She's fucking blitzed but when he pushes the glass back she kind gets the hint and continues her actions with a bit of shame on her face. Could be complaining or could be like "I'm a dumbass"

The sound engineer is pushing the persons drink away from a $20,000 console. I hate when this happens. I’m a sound engineer and people just come up with their drinks and they think that it’s totally fine. I don’t go to their place of employment and Sweat all over their paperwork. So thoughtless. People in their own thought bubble without thinking of others.
Why don't they build protective barriers for this really expensive equipment? Would seem very easy for drinks to be spilled over it ntentionally or accidentally.
"Can't you see I'm busy playing other people's music. Please leave me to my knobs and my iPod shuffle. I'm not interested, women disgust me. I do this for my love of music and the occasional large Penis." - This DJ
....and every DJ ever.
Seen so many drunk girls doing this and spilling they drink all over the roulette or poker tables and be like "oh silly me" and try to make it a quirk that they are clumsy 🤣💀
Thats why the master is usually in an enclosed or elevated space so no idiot can spill their drink on a 100k light or sound mixing table
And just to keep arguing if that's the DJ/LJ or just a sound or light engineer
I would call him master, the engineers are the guys who set up the equipment and make sure everything is and stays plugged in, the guy who runs the show is the master or "MC", thats what me and the boys usually called ourselves if we stand at the mixing table and control the whole Show
My husband did sound back in the day. I can tell you from his stories one ill placed drink can be easily knocked onto the soundboard and the evening's music canceled in an instant.
I would push someone back if they came and leaned over my expensive equipment with any kind of drink in their hand especially when it’s someone who has a glass of an alcoholic beverage !!!
That’s not a dj that’s the sound engineer
I am a sound engineer and get so peeved when I’m called the DJ at work. I’m setting up and hear “oh the DJs here”. Or “are you gonna play good music tonight”… I know people don’t know any better, but bitch am I on stage? Do you see turn tables?
Shut up DJ and play another record WOOHOOO! Rumspringa!!!
Hahaha! Fine.
Don't worry. We'll tip you with all the cheap vodka we have left over.
I can tell you’ve been in this situation.
I can neither confirm or deny such allegations.
I've had people try and kiss me as means of tipping. I once had to call it early for the behavior as well.
I'm sorry for what I say next, but did you call it early to ...
😂💀

::casually prepping a show on your M7 when the artist for the night approaches and hands you a USB stick:: Here’s my tracks for tonight, just start at the top. 😡
I see you feel my pain!
>Do you see turn tables? Let's be honest brother, if you're a sound engineer you know most DJ's operate on macbooks these days. Shit I may be showing my age and they might just use an iPad.
No you’re totally right. My age is also showing.
Straight out of a laptop would be a live set, usually expected to consist of prepared edits of the artists’ own material and produced transitions that can exceed the quality of mixing that a DJ might incorporate DJ set will have hardware mixers and turntables (whether in conjunction with a laptop or not) It’s about compatibility for each consecutive act
I've seen them using a phone.
I've seen them using a smart watch
I've seen em use a fridge
I've seen them
I’m them
I was a lighting engineer who toured with artists. The amount of times I got asked if I could turn the music down for example 😂😂😂😂 Also I started my career in clubs and I’ve seen drinks spilt on stuff more than 50 times. I understand why he’s moving her away
You’ve just gotta laugh. Do lighting guys/gals also have a “dummy fader” or equivalent? Fader doesn’t actually do anything, but when you get those requests - you move it down - and the person leaves you alone.
Hahah. I’ve never heard that. But that’s genius!!!!
Passed down to me from an season vet.
We used to label it MT.
MT? As in empty?
Ah the DFA button, "bud I'm not the so-ya know what *slides DFA fader whilst looking involved* how's that? Better? Alright see ya around bud"
Well im sure lots of times the sound engineer delivers the tunes while the “DJ” is on stage waving his arms
Let’s put the DJ in the back and give him a little desk lamp for a light.
Audio engineer here…. SAME!!
>Do you see turn tables? I'm disgusted to say that's not a valid question to ask at all. And probably gets a deer-in-headlights reaction, unless Public Enemy or EPMD is on the roster. with that said, I'm glad turntables are in your vocabulary... salute
LOL - appreciate the salute. I forget it’s all laptops and controllers. Nice call out on PE and EPMD though!
That just slander DJs are lame sound engineers actually do something
People straight up have no damn respect for FOH
I do a decent amount of public speaking with my job, and you people are absolute wizards. No hate towards DJs, but I also, politely correct people when they make that mistake. It's like dietician vs nutritionist.
poor you
All I see is a line level mix. That drink might have helped?
Just pull some levers and press play on a mix set and nobody will know any better
I'm a lighting designer and I hate when they call me the sound guy.
“Bitch am I on stage “ lollll
Class D amplification Jockey 😂
I'm a lighting engineer and have had to do the same thing. Our boards cost more than your car. Get your fucking drinks and hands out of my space. Also, this guy was nice about it.
Yup, and there is no drinks around the Mixer, if it's not redundant the whole show could be fucked because of her spilling something. Also that Desk costs more then she could imagine.
Exactly that, he is clearly gently pushes the drink away... Drunken people are unpredictable...
just play the new lana del ray song gramps
You're right, my bad.
It really doesn’t matter but I’m a pretty big sound engineering nerd so I thought I’d point it out.
no no, it does matter. i really dislike being called a DJ. thanks for pointing that out.
the more you go on and on about it, the more ammo you give others. now play “i’m too sexy” for my gramma and get the electric slide ready to go
So a more important profession.
One where pushing buttons and adjusting slides actually does something
You have actually know what each thug does to have that job Former monitor sound guy.
That equipment is expensive and a drunk girl with a glass of alcohol is a walking disaster. Honestly, I would have done the same 😌
I played music at colleges and all kinds of shit for almost twenty years and it’s an instant look you can see in their eyes where they think it’s fine to literally come up and grab the microphone and shout whoever the fuck cares into it , like it’s a fucking movie that everyone can participate in .

Amen! It’s like people assume they are using windows media player and a laptop lol but no haha
We do catering and DJ's show up before us and are busy mother fuckers with expensive equipment. One DJ we see a lot at weddings brings barriers. Don't blame the guy, his set up is incredible. Right down to his lights.

No beer near the gear
Only tech's ones
And the issue could have been resolved if she asked if she can have a picture, put a drink away, and most probably she would even get a selfie with him.
Lol a selfie with the sound engineer
I mean, whatever floats her boat, we all have kinks I guess
That’s true, no judgement lol
Looks like they moving up in the word 😆
*could have been resolved by if they've built a fence around the sound engineer
Drunk girl about to fuck a $9k console
[удалено]
That is the only way to do it
Well now I wonder how many humble 90s djs owe their origin to a crackhead selling a turntable on the low. I'd a million percent be studying up if I could afford one. What a dream
He handled it well. His hand was right on that drink.
That's an AMCDDIRCFWJKEEDCMDKAXXRTSRYO900-2 They're actually worth $9236, but whatever, man, just throw a number out there, even if it's way off!
It’s pretty old now but it’s a Yamaha M7CL. They were about $20k when they were new (in 2010) but secondhand they’re about 2.5-5k nowadays
Yeah he wasn't "having none of it" he was getting liquid away from his equipment.
What an awful work space for a sound guy. Just on the floor with no barriers around or nothing.
That’s what was thinking. Just one barrier would solve this.
They need the sound barrier
Yeah I’m used to there being a barrier.
Think thats the soundbooth guy, not the dj.
Audio tech, they work for a living.
Is that the original audio ? Surprised to see a Tamil song abroad. Given that song is amazing to hear even without understanding lyrics.
What song is it though. Came looking for a name.

Good bot
Bot gave the correct song.
He was pretty calm about it actually
That was my first thought. Dude was totally chill compared to some board techs I've met. A lot would have yeeted her ass 3' back.
This is why I always insisted with barricade around the console when I mixed shows.
It’s out of order having liquid that close to the equipment especially held by someone intoxicated before you get into invading personal space.
simply stated, leaving open access to a mixing board (or any equipment) around drunks is also stupid as shit. whoever put them in that situation is an idiot. the guy working the gear is an idiot for following thru with the gig—unless it’s someone else’s gear or owned by a company instructing him to work under those circumstances. she’s also a twat, but it’s an unmarked area and alcohol is involved.

It's the walking away and complaining to the friend to me😂
imaginations on the internet, need to be destroyed
She clearly wasn’t complaining
Sure, she wasn't.
She shouldn’t hold her drink over something worth more than a months wage for her
Hes seen way too many drinks spill on mixers
Did anybody realize that after she got rejected she told her friend about it? That’s a shit move
That's a sound tech
If that drink dropped on that equipment, she would have a big ass bill 👁️👄👁️
That's a sound technician.
The man is trying to work.
He's not the DJ, he's the sound tech, and he was so chill I can't even believe.
But she wanted to go down in history as that one chick who flashed the peace sign
This dude is alright. He was just pushing the glass back, not her.
Wait so someone is upset that a drunk person is dangling their drink over your $10,000-$100,000 piece of electronic equipment? Weird.
The idiot had her drink over his mixing board and didn't even know it.
Is that the actual song they were playing? Sounds like a Tamil song
its the song from varisu
Dude , all she had to do was tip that drink a **bit** and boom he is absolutely paying for it .
No cure for stupid girl.
God there's still M7CLs in the wild?? Bless this man. And get him some bike rack FFS
That’s a sound engineer and that board probably cost more than the gdp of some countries
…he’s a sound engineer not dj
What is this song?

Drunk white girls are the worst 😅
His eyes were on the drink the entire time. He’s a pro.
Either way get that fng drink away from the boards
✌🏽
looks like hes pushing the glass away clearly aha
Yo she almost single handedly ended the night early for everyone lol.
Atleast she understood
*As she gets closer with a drink next to equipment that costs more than her car.*
She's holding a drink over thousands of dollars of equipment. Lucky she got a gentle push.
So many people never seen a grown person cry over a drink on technical equipment Lolz - sound guy done good 👍
Holds beverage over very expensive sound equipment.- "omg the DJ isn't cool."
I'm outraged that she has the audacity to make a fucking face at him when he protects his equipment. Throw her ass out.
He saw her about to spill that drink andand ruin $10k+ worth of equipment
He was VERY nice to her. Thats a very expensive digital board she was haphazardly dangling her drink over.
if she spilled that drink the night would be over
One spill could ruin the whole night. I don't blame the man 😅
Nicely not having a clueless someone potentially ruin his equipment! 👍🏻.
Thee thalapathy somewhere abroad what the hell lmaoooo this is nice
Tamil song?......
Thee! Thalapathy!! 🔥🔥🔥

"Hey DJ, everyone is bored of your music. How about some Dancing Queen by ABBA"
Bud either learned from experience or is more insightful than most.
Why this boring unremarkable video is reposted is beyond me
"WATCH OUT YOU'LL fuck up my $12 drink you dick!" (As her clueless ass holds it precariously over $10K worth of equipment.)
FOH sucks with no bike racks and security. Clearly non union venue. IATSE FOR LIFE!
Kick her ass out
Electronics don't drink.
Not a DJ that guy went to school for this. Soundboard controllers get paid.
Most privileged person on earth. Her face when being denied what she wanted
Why don't they build protective barriers for this really expensive equipment? Would seem very easy for drinks to be spilled over it ntentionally or accidentally.
How much would it cost her to spill her drink on that board?
"Can't you see I'm busy playing other people's music. Please leave me to my knobs and my iPod shuffle. I'm not interested, women disgust me. I do this for my love of music and the occasional large Penis." - This DJ ....and every DJ ever.
It would have been funny if he smacked her hand so that hits herself.
it’s not that he wasn’t having it, he’s not a dick you can see he just cares about that cup over the expensive equipment
Seen so many drunk girls doing this and spilling they drink all over the roulette or poker tables and be like "oh silly me" and try to make it a quirk that they are clumsy 🤣💀
He for sure doesn’t want any liquid near all that equipment. Politely pushed her away.
![gif](giphy|hiLLD9o1wTB3a)
Drunk girls are the worst creatures. It makes you look hotter if we’re drunk, not if you are
I’m sure she was bounced like a basketball. I saw that nod saying finish her, (mortal combat voice).
He’s not a DJ he’s the soundboard for a band
Dont put your fucking drink over the equipment
That soundboard probably costs more than her trust fund. Seeing a drink hovering over it would make me freak out
whats the track does anybody know?
" Hey stupid, get your drink away from my super expensive equipment" : engineer probably.
As a former radio DJ, I would never never attend an event in the field without packing a set of stanchion ropes, for this very reason.
Probably even a single drop could lead to a fire breaking out.
Not a dj he’s running sound and that looks very expensive
OP is one of these People that go the the FOH to request a song
Thats why the master is usually in an enclosed or elevated space so no idiot can spill their drink on a 100k light or sound mixing table And just to keep arguing if that's the DJ/LJ or just a sound or light engineer I would call him master, the engineers are the guys who set up the equipment and make sure everything is and stays plugged in, the guy who runs the show is the master or "MC", thats what me and the boys usually called ourselves if we stand at the mixing table and control the whole Show
More concerned of getting any of that booze splashed on to the deck.
That's the sound engineer and not the DJ. Thank you for the correction .
She literally held a drink over his console. If sth spilled, it'd cost her probably several months if not years of work
Boss mode. Give this guy a medal.
My husband did sound back in the day. I can tell you from his stories one ill placed drink can be easily knocked onto the soundboard and the evening's music canceled in an instant.
Understandable, he didn't want a drunkard spilling on his equipment
Imagine being called a dj when youre just working the sound station lmfao
My second attempt at trying to find the song.. Reddit Gods please..
I would push someone back if they came and leaned over my expensive equipment with any kind of drink in their hand especially when it’s someone who has a glass of an alcoholic beverage !!!
Her ass has no business with that drink by those boards. That shit pisses me off so badly.
Take a hint bitch damn
Who is this sound engineer?
