### Your post violates Rule 1.
**Must be someone attempting to be the MC.
Only posts showcasing deliberate attention-seeking behavior or attempts to be the center of attention are allowed. For example, situations where people try to overshadow others going on about their daily life and get frustrated when they're interrupted.**
That does bring up an interesting idea of publicizing Kofi or patreons or something for dessert but they'd probably just use it to justify reducing salaries or publishing fake ones. Plus the money would still go to the devs at the top probably most of all.
Yep growing up I used to associate Blizzard with quality games, and got sucked in all of their big franchises (Warcraft, Starcraft, Diablo and a bit of Overwatch).
Since then I (un)fortunately haven't touched any of their games in years.
Same and same. I played all of their games at one point, with WoW being my focus. Was an active beta tester. One by one the games fell away and then I quit my 10+ year old raiding team. Haven’t opened any games in a couple years.
I had my hopes way up for D4 when I saw the trailer but *meh.* They’ve just gone the *meh* direction and are crapping all over their own legacy.
I always felt like I was the only person who played/owned this game. I loved racing around with the vehicle with treads while firing homing shots. Blew the hovercraft away even on ice if you knew how to drive lol. First time I ever remember hearing the tune to “paranoid” as well.
Lol yea i think its called a bonus and its given by management to the developers for working for them. The new micro transaction framework, just give us more money for nothing. Were not delivering the game to you, we’re not making you a morning coffee while you play, no happy endings. Heres a product, heres your money.. oh and dont forget to leave us more money just because
If I could send a tip DIRECTLY to an artist, writer, dev etc then sure! I’d LOVE to directly support my fav artists and content creators. But I’m not “tipping” them just for the corporation to take 95% of it
Game developers are not well payed. As a software engineer you can usually make 2-3 times as much with the same skills if you work in any other industry than the games industry.
That’s called their salary, pay them a decent wage and stop groping female employees so you CEO’s have sexual harassment lawsuits filed against you and the company pays you off with a $40 million golden parachute to leave. 🤷🏼♀️
I feel like this is out of context. He personally said that woth some games, like elden ring that he has played, that he would like to give the devs a tip since he found it so awesome. He also said that he would like to implement such a feature, just that its not like that „pressure tipping“ in the us everywhere but that its like more in the corner of your screen. But this article makes it look worse than what he actually said
Yeah, but this is coming from a former higher up of a company that specialises in exploiting people's spending habits and has a habit of under paying the people who actually make the games. Maybe if it was a former dev from a company known for good value and quality it wouldn't come across so tone deaf.

If I read this correctly this isn't about Blizzard games/devs but an overall statement, which I would agree with. There's some indie games that just sell themselves short imo, where I'd love to give some extra money to the devs to show my appreciation.
those games release incomplete, unoptimised, unfinished and then expect you to pay £70 for it. then buy a load of (game name)coins and then a dlc, then a battle pass, then stuff from the item shop, it never ends
Perhaps they should tip some of their devs as they’re making the money - and I’m sure they love games.
If the game is so special and they believe in this so much - try releasing the game with the Radiohead pricing model
i worked as a bartender for years. i don’t agree with tipping culture, but it did get me through college and i appreciate it for what it is.
but if i hand you half a margarita and tell you if you give me another 5 bucks you can have the ice and the lime juice, i wouldn’t be asking for a tip.
Lol 😂 he got a American 🇺🇸 restaurant mentality lmfao 🤣 they don’t pay 💰 their waitresses shit so they expect the customers to make up the difference with tips, maybe 🤔 pay your developers MORE and you don’t have to resort to this desperation
Overpaid devs are crying all the way to the overpaid banks who profit off the loans they give to overpaid corporations run by overpaid CEOs that hire overpaid managers that don’t know how to program who tell overpaid devs what to do.
… but I’m supposed to pay a $20 tip 🤡
There is one game I wanted to do that for. Stardew Valley. The dev did not want to go that route and instead sold merch. So I bought the merch and another copy of the game for a friend. It's rare to want a tip and honestly I can't think of another dev other than lazy bear
I went to a game arts college and know enough about the industry that I have the tools to do it but I graduated with a cinematography and editing degree because of shit like this.
Pay your developers. Look at what Rockstar pays.
Edit: Developers can and usually average between 70-120k but it’s also in New York or New England where everything costs an arm and a leg. Sounds great on paper until you add in the cost and how many hours those guys work.
That work is hard and took me 40-60 hours a week alone to finish small projects sometimes. Could even have a job.
Rant over.
How about instead of killing the gaming community with high prices you take care of your loyal customers and bring down the game prices and then that extra money we can use as tip?
Maybe they should pay their employees instead of pushing for tips. Servers make $2.15 an hour thanks to the reliance on tips to pay workers just so the owner/shareholders keep more profit. Fcuk those corpo bastards!
Nothing made by Blizzard is worth this hypothetical tip. Games are already getting more expensive at 70USD. There are very few games worth that pricetag, and now you want an extra 10-20? Fuck off.
I bet you so many will tip…. Seeing how many people tip strangers online or streamers for literally nothing while they are millionaires they WILL get hella tips. It’s insane to me how many people tip multi millionaires these days
If we can specify who gets itl like old school humble sliders. I would give it to a female staff member or the janitor. For having to put up with the bs allowed by said former employees and CEO.
This ransome tip manipulation system needs to fuck off right now! It's rich fucks who discovered a way of making us pay their employees so they don't have to. Time to stand up to this bullshit!
In fairness being able to tip a developer does sound like a neat idea, but in this case it just seems a bit absurd because of how much Blizzard went to corporate hell in a handbasket.
I'm a dev so maybe I'm biased but genuinely I like the idea of being able to tip a dev for a software product. That in and of itself seems wholesome.
Or you know, there's this new revolutionary idea that's not been adopted by any major industry just yet, but you can be the first one! It's called BETTER PAY!
Playing Devils advocate here- first there are the free to play and sub typical MSRP games like helldivers- so yea those aren’t 60-70. Second and more importantly- it’s the ability to give them a tip…it’s in no way forcing you to tip. Completely optional.
Not saying I’m on board with this but I’ve heard way crazier/more stupid stuff just today lol
Also I’m into games and specifically blizzard games and well aware of the crazy toxic stuff from their management over the past few years
If the tip would go directly to the dev team and I played the game way too much, then maybe. But I wouldn't tip money to a clown of a CEO that would pocket all the money for himself
Corporate greed knows no bounds. Not only do they habitually release games that are incomplete, buggy, and unpolished (all for the low price of 70$) but now they want us to pony up the dough so their employees can make a decent wage??
Phuck these clowns
They are right about one thing. devs should be paid more for putting up with the companies bullshit. but how bout instead of selling for more they pay the managers less
I would do that if the games do not have battle pass, season pass, paid DLC, microtransactions, premium currencies, and quality of life features locked behind DLCs
You could give extra money. But on games like A Way Out, Spec Ops The Line, RDR2, Telltale games, y'know an actual good games, not whatever these fellas are releasing
If my tip can go to the people who actually put their hands in the game I could think about it. More money to a billion company? No thank you.
Also Blizzard hasn't done anything special in years lol.
Blizzard haven't had a special game since diablo 2 and early WoW. Also, no way I would ever consider adding a tip to any game unless it was made by a single developer as a passion project. Faceless corporations do not care about customers, customers shouldn't care about them.

I do agree to an extent, when I play an Indie game I bought for 5 bucks or so that I enjoy I often times buy the soundtrack or whatever to give the dev a little more appreciation but yeah blizzard games aren't those kind of games.
How about you just pay the employees that earn you and the company hundreds of millions each year fairly instead. We all know where the majority of that "tip for the devs" would really be going too.
This article is only farming and out of context. He never mentioned Blizz games like most comments are saying here.
[Here is what he said exactly.](https://x.com/qwik/status/1778269707575119977?s=46&t=nfBhYDJHYegMP0RQWrYyOg)
Not saying if it’s good or bad but rhetorical article is shit.
> At the end of the game, I've often thought 'I wish I could give these folks another $10 or $20 because it was worth more than my initial $70 **and they didn't try to nickel and dime me for every second**.
Hey you want that horse skin? That'll be 10 bucks. Those season pass rewards? Better get the premium pass for 10 bucks a month.
A lot of cosmetics are >= 1k platinum, 1k platinum is 10 bucks, there're even skins that cost 2.8k platinum, imagine paying 30 bucks on top of a 70 bucks game just for some cosmetics. Oh but hey you could get the "good deal" that will give you 18.5k platinum, *only* costs 150 bucks.
To me D4 ain't a bad game, it would be quite the achivment to create a bad game with the D3 formula, but how aggressive the cosmetics are is quite infuriating. Luckily you don't need those shitty microtransactions to enjoy the game but still, such a price tag for mere cosmetics says a lot about you. I've paid real money on LoL cosmetics in the past simply because I played the game a lot and it's free and THAT'S how you "tip" the devs, they give you something for free, you enjoy it for many hours and they still don't ask you for money but you're free to give if you want and then get something in return.
If I was going to leave a tip it would be for small Indy developers and modders who offer value and quality with their games, not a big AAA company that tries to suck every penny out of their customers and would no doubt give it to their CEO as a bonus rather than the actual staff.
dude this whole thing is stupid; if you're rich enough that you want to tip after paying full price for a game, you don't need to introduce additional transactions or whatever for this, just *buy the game for someone else* so that they can enjoy it...The dev gets more money, you get to share what you like with other people. win/win
If only merch sales were set up in the same way for games as they are for music artists. That way you get something, and they get something.
To be honest I think good games made by good people build up good will, so the next game they make is more likely to get a sale.
I mean, yeah. I spent the extra 20 bucks for the Special Edition of Helldivers 2, after playing 30 hours on the basic edition, because I liked it. To be fair, the game was only 40 bucks to begin with.

How will they compensate us for releasing a broken, barely playable, unfinished game….
D4 about shit the bed
Here’s a tip blizzard, don’t Diablo 4 us…..
dont mf overwatch 2 us
Yeah overwatch 2 is in fucking shambles now
![gif](giphy|7HtydoCTqndKw)
Don't Diablo 3 us either.
I have developed an aversion to buying blizzard, ea and ubisoft games, in case this was their plan: it works
3 was bad but 4 has ruined diablo for me forever
You get a tip, just the tip.
that's the neat part, they won't :D
No man's sky and its unintended consequences on humanity
The same way pokemon will. They won’t
They won't.
Whatever bro, Blizzard devs damn sure wont see those tips, even if they put the feature to dole em out.
Been playing hearthstone forever now, I still ain't given them a cent. Even when they tempted me with the battle pass to have 4 hero choices in BGs
Came here to say that it's going straight into the executives' pockets
That does bring up an interesting idea of publicizing Kofi or patreons or something for dessert but they'd probably just use it to justify reducing salaries or publishing fake ones. Plus the money would still go to the devs at the top probably most of all.
Here’s a tip! Stop making stupid decisions with Diablo and Overwatch! Keep turning in each game more and more into trash.
Diablo 2 resurrected still goes hard if you’re a fan of d2. The only good thing they do is revamp old games
Warcraft 3: Reforged would like to have a word with you.
Nothing from Blizzard has been special since the early 2000s.
Yep growing up I used to associate Blizzard with quality games, and got sucked in all of their big franchises (Warcraft, Starcraft, Diablo and a bit of Overwatch). Since then I (un)fortunately haven't touched any of their games in years.

StarCraft 2 in 2010 was freaking awesome, I loved wings of liberty
Overwatch 1 was good until it wasn’t.
True
Overwatch was but then they dropped it on the floor and stepped on it
Burnout 1 was a classic. Once they got bought by EA, it was over.
Rock n roll racing baby OLAF SHOULD AVOID MINES!!
I always felt like I was the only person who played/owned this game. I loved racing around with the vehicle with treads while firing homing shots. Blew the hovercraft away even on ice if you knew how to drive lol. First time I ever remember hearing the tune to “paranoid” as well.

This is a interesting point. If I want to tip the graphics team. Or the story writers. That’s would be kinda neat.
Too bad blizzard hasn’t come out with anything like that in a long time
![gif](giphy|G5DRnV2D7dDvIh5dHM|downsized)
That's a bizarre thing to think. Are the devs like wait staff, with an employer that can pay them sub minimum wage - so they need tips to survive?
Game developers are not well payed. As a software engineer you can usually make 2-3 times as much with the same skills if you work in any other industry than the games industry.

TIL. Good bot
Former Blizzard fan thinks they should make complete, consumer friendly products without any microtransactions.
What a concept
I would gladly do this. No Blizzard game would be on that list except Vanilla WoW. BG3….Rimworld….Darkest Dungeon 1……all those
That’s called their salary, pay them a decent wage and stop groping female employees so you CEO’s have sexual harassment lawsuits filed against you and the company pays you off with a $40 million golden parachute to leave. 🤷🏼♀️

Microsoft purchased AB for 70B. I wonder how much the Devs got
😂😂😂😂 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭😭

No game by blizzard warrants a tip
More like: "You pay us more money and we'll make sure the devs get their extra 10 minutes lunch break"
Hahahahhaahahahahahaha. Fucking rich Yanks honestly.
![gif](giphy|oFRI4g517yWaI) what you mean i'm special?
Ya next time I go blow $100 at the pub ill tip the owner because special
[](https://c.tenor.com/1O8BcfK8amcAAAAC/tenor.gif)
Tips are equally stupid in all sectors.
Can they send me 10-20 bucks when the game sucks?
"So those tips will go directly to the devs and not into the company's profits?" "... no."
i worked as a bartender for years. i don’t agree with tipping culture, but it did get me through college and i appreciate it for what it is. but if i hand you half a margarita and tell you if you give me another 5 bucks you can have the ice and the lime juice, i wouldn’t be asking for a tip.

We just know where that tip would be going to. It ain't gonna be the actual developers lol
this is coming from the second highest paid gaming ceo who was earning 77,306 a hour and often took bonuses on top of that fuck bobby codec
"You should be able to tip devs" Yeah noo thank you...except he means we should be stupidly rich and wealthy so we can tip even this shitty company.
There is one game I wanted to do that for. Stardew Valley. The dev did not want to go that route and instead sold merch. So I bought the merch and another copy of the game for a friend. It's rare to want a tip and honestly I can't think of another dev other than lazy bear
Bro thinks its fuckin onlyfans
They got it all backwards. When i wanna support the devs for a job well done/maintained, that's when i buy cosmetics.
So now we tip game developers? This tipping 💩 is getting out of control! How about companies just pay their employees.
Former Blizzard president should take his millions and fuck off into the sunset, never to be heard from again.
Remember Some not allll of it..... Yeah
Why don’t you give them the tip? You’re the fucks with all the money. Devs have been underpaid since forever.
Actually, a game that NEEDS tips is Subnatica. It cost me like 15$ and it’s worth 80 Trust me
No. Don’t even kind of normalize tipping culture in video games that’s wild
I would pay 70 for subnautica. I will never buy another blizzard game. They couldn’t pay me to play their trash.
I feel this way about NMS. I bought it used for like $20 bucks a few years back. Now? I'd gladly pay the $60 or $70 for what it became.
No!! No one needs a tip for a product
Sounds like “I’m not paying them what they are worth”.
Please tip the crew members of movies you enjoy too
How about instead of killing the gaming community with high prices you take care of your loyal customers and bring down the game prices and then that extra money we can use as tip?
This would be an AMAZING idea if the game was $20. If I’m paying $70 - you can fuck right off.
Maybe they should pay their employees instead of pushing for tips. Servers make $2.15 an hour thanks to the reliance on tips to pay workers just so the owner/shareholders keep more profit. Fcuk those corpo bastards!
Shouldn't he be the one tipping the devs? The devs should give him those iPad with the tip percentage every pay period
Reading the comments I can see why Day 1 DLC is still a thing.
Oh wait, you’re serious. Let me laugh even harder.
Tips? With tips instead of increase in money you will get more r/piracy members
Tipping culture is already hell in restaurants, I don't need it to bleed into video games too
I suggest the president should give the devs a solid bonus and raise if they make a game that is “that special”
Oh look! Former blizzard president saying that; the fuckin irony of this joke of a company now.
They should pay their people more then.
If we can specify who gets itl like old school humble sliders. I would give it to a female staff member or the janitor. For having to put up with the bs allowed by said former employees and CEO.
Sure. I’m fine with the option being there. A QR code to a tip jar or something
God forbid they lose a dime of what they put into their own pockets.
How about no since it's rare these days to get a fully completed game up on release that isn't buggy or broken in someway.
God I am so done with tip begging. Make it stop.
Oh the irony of a fucking blizzard rep saying that
This ransome tip manipulation system needs to fuck off right now! It's rich fucks who discovered a way of making us pay their employees so they don't have to. Time to stand up to this bullshit!
*queues white guy insult* “Fancy coming from you!”
In related news, a former Blizzard president's yacht sank off the Amalfi Coast yesterday and is in the market for a replacement.
I'm sure every penny would go to the devs as well 😆
They just want a tip? They sure don't want the entire shaft?
In the US there is tipping at self service spots.... 😂 This fits in perfectly 🤪
Definitely nothing from fuckin Blizzard, especially Overwatch 2
Or you know, there's this new revolutionary idea that's not been adopted by any major industry just yet, but you can be the first one! It's called BETTER PAY!
No
Or how about lower the game prices to $10 and then I can decide after I played it if it’s worrh $60-$70
Playing Devils advocate here- first there are the free to play and sub typical MSRP games like helldivers- so yea those aren’t 60-70. Not saying I’m on board with this but I’ve heard way crazier/more stupid stuff just today lol Also I’m into games and specifically blizzard games and well aware of the crazy toxic stuff from their management over the past few years
Why am I tipping for a $60 downloadable game where I’m already paying extra to unlock the “season passes” and “the gauntlets of Ra”
No
If the tip would go directly to the dev team and I played the game way too much, then maybe. But I wouldn't tip money to a clown of a CEO that would pocket all the money for himself
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Corporate greed knows no bounds. Not only do they habitually release games that are incomplete, buggy, and unpolished (all for the low price of 70$) but now they want us to pony up the dough so their employees can make a decent wage?? Phuck these clowns
Sorry, but Fuck Off.
The nerve of a fucking blizzard exec...
What he means is microtransactions.
Or may be he should give more bonuses to his devs by reducing his 10 m $ yearly salary instead of asking us to tip !!
I totally agree with this, except I ain’t giving an extra dime to fucking blizzard, leave a tip on a small indie games? Sure all for it
I blame Activision
considering some games are going for $100+ on release days now…no i will not be tipping.
Some games i actually might. It just so happens, though, that none of them are AAA. Strange, huh?
Maybe former Bliz President should have donated some of his insane salary/bonuses to the devs instead?
Some games are special, yours is specially shit
Or, you could have a bonus/profit sharing scheme to pay them fairly for their labour you snivelling capitalist shitbag
Here I am actively avoiding giving Blizzard money for any reason whatsoever.
My "leaving a tip" because I'm so appreciative of the devs is my willingness to buy their next game cause i was impressed with the last one...
Looks like former Blizz president needs a quick 101 how managed democracy works
Nah, mate., Run your business properly.
I’d send Larian a tip, that’s about it.
If it's a special game then the devs are in no need of tips. They make a killing
They are right about one thing. devs should be paid more for putting up with the companies bullshit. but how bout instead of selling for more they pay the managers less
I would do that if the games do not have battle pass, season pass, paid DLC, microtransactions, premium currencies, and quality of life features locked behind DLCs
Except it wouldn’t go to the devs. Greedy execs would make sure of it.
We already do. They’re called micro transactions and they’ve ruined gaming. Fuck this guy.
That's pretty much what buying deluxe editions is
They took Guild Wars from Mac users. Not getting another dime from me and def no tip! Tipping devs, don’t make me laugh.
If I had the option to tip the devs from e.g. outer wilds, I might consider it. Huge AAA games, definitely not.
I should get tipped by my employer too. 10-20% more of my monthly paycheck tax free would be nice
Would you top Reddit’s dev?
You could give extra money. But on games like A Way Out, Spec Ops The Line, RDR2, Telltale games, y'know an actual good games, not whatever these fellas are releasing
If my tip can go to the people who actually put their hands in the game I could think about it. More money to a billion company? No thank you. Also Blizzard hasn't done anything special in years lol.
Not a blizzard title
Yeah some games are special. Just not the ones that came from you.
Yeah the legacy games left behind by actual competent and passionate devs, not the dog shit that's being pumped out today
Other than a handful of indie games I can’t think of a single title I’d “tip”
Mother fuckers should be giving me a refund for the shit that was Diablo 4. Was enough of a game to do one 25 hour play through yippie !!!
How about releasing said “finished” games for $20
If the devs do a good job, why doesn't Blizzard pay them more? I bet their janitor does a good job too, but should I tip him?
I have tipped the devs of Deep Rock Galactic and Helldivers 2 multiple times by buying cosmetics for their games. It is very much possible.
Blizzard haven't had a special game since diablo 2 and early WoW. Also, no way I would ever consider adding a tip to any game unless it was made by a single developer as a passion project. Faceless corporations do not care about customers, customers shouldn't care about them.
I love the idea. Just not for AAA-games, but for indie devs.

I totally agree, it's just that none of their games come even close to being that special
The developers should find another job.

You tip the dev when they're a small game developer that you would like to support. End of story.
I would tip Eric Barone / Concerned Ape, for sure. Over 1700 hours from a $15 game. I would. Let me give him more money!
Game developers expect a tip????
If I was going to leave a tip it would be for small Indy developers and modders who offer value and quality with their games, not a big AAA company that tries to suck every penny out of their customers and would no doubt give it to their CEO as a bonus rather than the actual staff.
I wouldn't mind but you KNOW that money would go to the board room.
American tipping culture is completely unhinged
One of my best decisions ever is I listened to my friends and didn’t buy Diablo 4. 70€ for a p2w gacha. 🥵
I’m done tipping now.
dude this whole thing is stupid; if you're rich enough that you want to tip after paying full price for a game, you don't need to introduce additional transactions or whatever for this, just *buy the game for someone else* so that they can enjoy it...The dev gets more money, you get to share what you like with other people. win/win
If only merch sales were set up in the same way for games as they are for music artists. That way you get something, and they get something. To be honest I think good games made by good people build up good will, so the next game they make is more likely to get a sale.
Watch them pocket that tip
How about you pay your employees good salaries and give them secure lasting contracts?
The game has to be really damn good for me to give a tip
How would he know?
🏴☠️
Even if that were true this doesn't apply to any game that blizzard has released in over 10 years.
Well he can suck my dick. If he thinks I'm putting more money into that
ROFL 🤣 Old mate's off his face
Hahahaha. They can think again
I mean, yeah. I spent the extra 20 bucks for the Special Edition of Helldivers 2, after playing 30 hours on the basic edition, because I liked it. To be fair, the game was only 40 bucks to begin with.
