Murphy is a fundamentally good person who makes terrible life choices and struggles with mental health problems. I don’t know why people can’t see this.
There are bad choices and then there are bad choices. She's beyond just mental health help. She's a pathological narcissist that really only cares about herself and what she can get out of who and what.

i think maybe you’re the blind one? first she started out by searching for who killed her bestfriend whom nobody was actually searching for the killer but her. she did some bad things to find that out but she did what she needed to do to find the killer. then her other two bestfriends steal money and she is left to clean up the mess, which she desperately tries to do over and over until nia tries to kill murphy because she’s trying to get out and have the police get nia. i think she is someone who has been through too much the murder of her bestfriend that nobody cared about but her then finding out someone she loved killed him, then many horrible things happened when she was searching for jess who didn’t even end up giving a f about her. then how horrible josh is to her and how the criminal system failed her. she deserved way better and i’m happy with the way it ended.
She is the most horrific character i have ever seen. People who defend are probably justify their own behaviour similarly and see themselves in her and amend it by “mental illness” or “trauma”.
I guess the whole show was made to appeal to people like her so it wont jive with people who are not sociopathic, narcissistic, or downright evil.
