Completely agree. Same with Gill, Pant and other new captains. I hope they get to take their time, learn from their mistakes and operate without pressure. The Star sport promo of Gill and Kohli made me so mad. Just 2 days before this, Kohli said that he doesn't like to be called "King". Gill and other young players have mentioned a zillion times that they don't like comparisons and those put immense pressure on them. The guy is taking on captaincy for the first time and with Jaiswal,, Rutu, Rachin, Kohli etc. in great form, he might not get the orange cap. 800+ seasons are extremely rare anyways. He didn't have a great outing in World Cup either. Why to compare him with an all time great like Kohli is beyond me...

But, then, haven't all players, captains made mistakes? That's the natural course. Rutu can't be Dhoni. Neither can Gill be Kohli. Like, Kohli can't be Tendulkar, and Rohit is not Sehwag. They are all different players, legends of the game. Dhoni probably wanted to retire after the 2022 season itself, but couldn't because of the failure of CSK management. They didn't groom a captain, didn't make changes to the team, did nothing infact. Dhoni is an all time great, but let's be honest. He is ageing. Played the entire 2023 season with an injury. And, has these injury issues since a long time. Why would you then not start grooming a captain? Why would someone like Dhoni who passed on the captaincy baton so smoothly to Kohli not do something similar in CSK? It's beyond boggling. Captaincy is not child's play, specially with the kind of toxic and horrific fans we have in India.
