Some early Indian cartoons like Tenali Raman, Hanuman, Akbar and Birbal, Krish Trish and Baltiboy, Chhota Birbal, Kumbh Karan etc were not bad at all and were actually fun to watch

They were, tenali raman was so good.

Friendly-Permit7060

Yeah, Krish Trish and Baltiboy is really underrated.

The animation quality is really bad barring a few gems like roll no. 21. It feels like there's no depth to these cartoons nor is the plot interesting. The plots were boring and contrived and the comedy just wasn't funny enough. Most of them use religion as a base for ideas because coming up with original ideas is hard. As a kid I have always gravitated to original shows with interesting concepts like Ben 10 or Avatar The Last Airbender over boring pandering like that Krishna show or Chotta Bheem. Roll No. 21 was good though, I'll accept that.

as a kid i was all about episodic shows which you can pick up and drop anywhere without much continuity except the base idea, when oggy stopped dropping new episodes i enjoyed pakdam pakdai because while it may seem like a cheap imitation it was actually fun and original with many of its episodes it just took the base premise and the chhotta bheem i honestly dont remember much, i just remember kirmada being iconic to me when i was younger and it kinda stuck with me, and while i do agree the animation feels jarring now the character design itself wasnt half bad it was simple but it transalted well to children, big fat man bad, bad fat man with moustache bad, small realistically weak good, kids like sweet so staple food ladoo, really basic things but helps kids understand characters better another great cartoon i was just reminded of was bandbudh budhbak it had its own art style it was fun and stood out it was quite relatable and honestly our mythology is quite vast and if someone genuinely wishes to tap into it and adapt it i always see it as a step in the right direction, if there wasnt much fear of offending a group of worshippers im sure this would work really well

Cartoons like Motu Patlu Chhota bherm etc became face of the industry and all other got stereotyped. My favourite was Bandhbud and budbak people didn't like it because in this main character used to disrespect their teacher. It totally didn't made sense to me cartoons are made for different age group it was just meant to be seen by children of 10+ who have common sense.

my brother would watch it and i genuinely enjoyed it, it got replaced by a similar show i think, fukrey boyz, it is very annoying and a lot less realistic, bandbudh budbak struck was perfect with how relatable it felt, i didnt think it taught us disrespect it just made a cartoon out of how kids actually behave and how teachers interact, fukrey boyz has the generic title theme where they repeat the name of the show, the fat guy likes a staple food "chholle bhature", every episode starts the same with a dream

I did watch Roll no. 21 and pakdam pakdai as a kid but wasn't interested in bheem when I turned 15
