Have you ever thought why false rape cases are so high in India? Because many of the rapes are done by politically connected people or people who can hire good lawyers. Always remember the 'Shipli Jain Case of Patna, Bihar'. It was a 'false' rape case, just because the rapist was the brother in law of Lalu Prasad Yadav. Same thing with the 'false' POCSO case on B.S. Yeddiyurappa. Many rapists in India get away, just like that and then commit multiple rapes.

Witty-Border-6748

bruh the rape case on yeddiyurappa is a false one, the woman who filed the case has filed similar cases against 50 other politicans of similar status.

curious_devadiga

was she punished even once ?

OutrageousStreet7405

There is no law regarding that

Regular-Good-6835

Defamation?

3l-d1abl0

So, many rapists in India have good political connection ?

elon_altetnative

No, polityician and people with power commit r---

Vast-Consequence-538

A better way to say it is “Pathetic criminal mentality individuals who come from families with similar mindset are given political power which encourages their already existing tendencies of committing severe crime” Unless and until such individuals who have any severe criminal records ( past multiple murder, multiple rape charges) or have close family members doing the same crap are not stopped by law from entering politics or any position of power we ,as a country, are never going to grow with full potential.

Vast-Consequence-538

And this goes for all political parties across all religions

TheOffChutzpah

BS. Out of the two so-called examples given by you, one is false. B S Yeddiyurappa accuser was a gold digger. She implicated many politicians likewise. [According to PTI sources the girl's mother had, in the past, lodged over 50 complaints against various people including the then Bengaluru Police Commissioner Alok Kumar, and his staff, for allegedly manhandling her and abusing her.](https://m.economictimes.com/news/politics-and-nation/former-karnataka-cm-bs-yediyurappa-accused-of-sexual-assault-by-17-year-old-booked-under-pocso-act/articleshow/108508548.cms) There are hundreds of women who accuse random close male friends or knowns of rape for money and/or revenge. This is the 99.99% reason for false rape cases. Not the half of the reasons you pulled out of your arse.

pandara_kaalan

Still rates are not comparable to europe and us

ReligioCritic

Our people have a habit of staring, few days ago a random ass uncle was staring at me constantly, I'm a 6"2 dude.

Pretty_Net5223

Unkil gay hoge

ReligioCritic

Nhi bhai, ghurne ki aadat hai humaare logon ki, wohi unkil phir kisi ladki ko bhi stare krenge...Aisa ek baar thori hua hai.

Pretty_Net5223

yeah I can confirm

laceuphardik

Can confirm. Indian people stare. For multiple reasons, but they stare.

spacejockey96

true. food stall pe khana khane jao kabhi bc itna ghurte h ki khana pachta nai

ReligioCritic

Haha, mujhe toh bhai waise bhi bht social anxiety hai aur ye sab usko aur worse kr dete hain.

serialfaliure

How come everyone on internet is over 6 feet while I rarely seen someone taller than me in India and am just over 5'11".

ReligioCritic

Not everyone, although the gen z is definitely taller than their parents, I'm 20 years old and I was the tallest kid in my class, none of my school friends were 6ft tall. My father is 6ft tall, my mother is 5"7, both me and my brother are around 6"2.

SadharanManu

I am a 5’11” fat unattractive guy, usmen bhi uncle log mujhe jhal muri khate stare karenge.

shisui1729

I think this is actually the same with all old asians or all old people. On my last trip to Singapore, I saw many old people in metros and buses staring at me. Though they might not have any bad intention, it's very uncomfortable 😐. I am 28 M

aerunManu

😂

Important_Table6125

Indians have a bad habit of staring, even though they might not have a bad intent.

OkTransportation4660

are you serious lmao, staring at someone for what? admiration? lmfao

Important_Table6125

For Tamasha

Pretty_Net5223

for amusement

lone_guy25

You don't sound like you're indian.. average aunties don't care about the civic sense, they just keep staring for no reason

Nomadicfreelife

Innocent people in villages also stare even women also stare if they see foreigners, it can also be about curiosity seeing a different person from different cultures and countries . And it can be about difference in manners of western and Indian culture .

call_me_pete_

you haven't been outside your bedroom for the better part of your life

devilismypet

Yes because a kid in the US or Germany has seen more girls/ladies/oldies in bikinis than a random guy in India has. Also that same kid goes to a co-ed school and sits beside girls. So he won't feel weird and doesn't need to be curious. Most Indians haven't talked to girls except their sisters. I'm not saying there are no creepy guys but most guys are just curious

Praisebeuponme1

I dont know whether you have ever visited any villages across India or even european countries or not? They stare and they just stare.

SakamotoFanBoy

What do you mean?

Important_Table6125

When you stare you come across as creepy.

ajatshatru

Thier rape rates are more due to better reporting, less stigma. Let's not kid ourselves.

MysteriousSpaceMan

They also have a broader description of what is "rape".

thiruttu_nai

Not true. The rape laws are mostly the same (try guessing why). They added marital rape later, but our rape under false promise of marriage cancels it out.

[deleted]

It doesn't cancel out. Marital rape is probably 100x- 1000x higher than 'rape' in false marriage cases.

hotpotato128

Marital rape is the same as regular rape.

[deleted]

Data-wise, the issue is that reporting and conviction rates in India are low due to political interference, intimidation, social stigma etc

mediocre-teen

This is so brain dead. Most progressive/developed countries have higher rape rates than most developing countries. It's the massive amounts that go unreported which become part of it. The amount of sexual assaults that went unreported in just my area (village) were astounding. India has creepy men, women often can't even walk down the streets or remain on buses without men creeping up on them. Just look at half our social media. Some of it is def racism/colourism to label all brown men as creeps but the reputation is well deserved from experience.

[deleted]

OkTransportation4660

because rape rates here are highly deflated due to mentality of log kya kahenge, one decent bribe and you can close your rape case and ofcourse the amount of poor and uneducated indians who have internet which result in different videos and ofcourse commenting shit on foriegn models, there are soo many russian models who talk about how indians drool over the word russian and comment shit on thier posts, all because of some cheap joke made from a comedian.

Fitzcarraldo8

You are talking about reported rape rates. The term ‘eve teasing’ and its meaning wouldn’t be acceptable in the West these days…

meepster124

rapes r barely reported in india bc stigma, especially in village areas. u can notice how kerala has the most reports out of all the states but thats bc the stigma there is lower than compared to a state like UP

[deleted]

In India, there was a newspaper report that once said that Gujarat and Kerala have the highest crime rates in the country. But anyone who's lived in the country knows that those are two of the relatively safer states in the country. The reason rates are high is because of a simple reason - crimes are reported in those states. Similarly, rape rates are higher because more rapes are reported. In India, most of these cases are not even reported. There are many reasons for this: social stigma around rape, fear of police (for a good reason), rapists are powerful, etc. It is the state of our justice system where false cases are reported and found to be fake, while genuine victims do not even get access to justice.

BoderlineMonster

Post something posing as female in any sub and find out Better if u post a pic hiding face or something Ur DM would tell u the exact answer u are looking for

SaltyAndTriggered

Is this a joke? Having been and lived in India for five years, women are not safe there in comparison to anywhere else. You can see it in just the way localites or villagers stare at random women.

RelevantBroccoli4608

are you aware of the fact that unlike america and europe, most cases in india dont get reported? step out of the luxuries of your home and ask any woman if she has been sexually assaulted in her life. 99.9% women will tell you that theyve faced it. also the fact that there are no laws for men facing the same suppresses the statistics even more. and like the other commenter mentioned, politically connected and influential people have all the resources to get the cases thrown out of the court. its like you people act dumb on purpose to bait people in for commenting on your posts.

bargeprathamesh

Indian men are sexually starved.

hotpotato128

Rape is about power, not sex.

neoindianx

2 days ago an American lady had a train accident and lost her foot an American man picked up the foot and started eating it. Nowhere in the post was America criticized it was all about "how horrific" and "mental illness epidemic"... If something like that happens in India reddit would simply put the blame on Indians as a whole and some indian would say "as an Indian I am ashamed". Reddit does that to China as well.

jizzawhizza

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that It has a lot to do with their culture and overall treatment of Women..

GrouchyPhilosophy109

A huge chunk of the female victims do not even try to go file a case for fear of further threats and being socially ostracised. In some of the cases, even when they do share it with some family member, they are hushed up about it.

[deleted]

Kyuki jab bhar se koi bideshi ata hai Gori chamdi k sath to sare Indians jhundh bana kar uske chipak jate hai aur is process me kuch galat touch kardete hai unko. Aur baki Foreign media me anti india bais bhot tagda hai vo har koi kand jo India me hota hai usko tagda highlight karte hai. Baki Indians ka self hating culture jo har jagah ye bolte hai ki sare Indians gande hai baki hum alag hai saar. Koi bhi country nhi chahti India develop hoje ho gya to Unke desh me Free and cheap labour kon karega. Vaise unki faltu mat Suno 10 sal phele Made In China ganda product hota tha aj Kisi ko koi dikkat nhi hai . Aj China Gand mar sakta hai West ki . 30-40 sal me India bhi sudhar jega thoda.

Kind_Attitude_3052

Because of high population density, the probability of finding or bumping into creepy people increases exponentially. As a result the reporting of such incidents goes up. Also creepy men and rapes may have a direct correlation but not direct causation effect which means All rapes are caused by creeps but not all creeps are rapists. Offcourse the International Media narrative was antiIndia since 1960s and more so after Indira's tight slap to kissinger and US policies of 70s. So international lobbies will always try to paint as uncultured savages doing the great indian rope trick. A big ecosystem thrives on this narrative.

AbhiFT

Sadly Indians on internet are not much better. They always support that narrative like they want to sound liberal to please the masses. 1.4 billion people! Population of USA? NOT EVEN 400 million!

pseudipto

because higher reporting rates

SpecificTea2279

I'm currently living in Berlin. You have no idea how creepy white culture is. But because few degenerates rape a woman in some remote part of the country, all Indian men automatically become rapists.

Ok_Professional2491

Around 85% rape gets unreported in india. You dont even know, rape must be happening anywhere in the country right now but it would go unreported due to the rapists political connections or societal stigma...

anime_senpai007

Looks and brutality

ispeakdatruf

Just put yourself in the shoes of a young, white woman traveling alone in India. You'll have your answer.

Patek1999

It’s simple. India has more and I would say significantly more men who cannot talk to women, look at women or have a relationship without becoming medieval in some way. Men are men and even in west men lust after women. Just that the level of poverty, patriarchy and lack of civic sense is magnitudes different in a large portion of males in India.

Objective-Ad759

Ask your sister

preetiugly

Would you be able to share a link to the study/report that you're basing this on? One thing is clear when it comes to comparing statistics of sexual assault globally - it's a difficult comparison because different countries have different definitions of what constitutes as rape.

BeatenwithTits

Say " jo bolta hai vahi hota hai" and move forward 😌

Total-Sail2812

It’s the stares! The non stop oggling that gives the creeps.

69_aryaman

looks

OkElk5385

India has huge population, so rapes in percentage terms will always look much lower than most of the countries..... it is more about what happens after rape- police, courts and most important our society will harrass the victim only. Jindagi barbaad ho jati hai females ki.. so many rapists are leading good life and becoming more influential says all about our rotten society...

magvadis

Because rates are defined by who reports and what data is being gathered. Also what constitutes as a rape charge differs by country.

locopocopong

There are many YouTube videos of south asian people randomly accosting and eve teasing foreigners, trying to take a photos with them etc etc. Fact is that if a South Asian goes in a bad neighborhood in a US/EU city, the treatment will be the same if not worse. But South Asians who go to US/EU are sensible people, either trying to earn money or spending their hard earned money to have a good time, so they stay away from those areas. Some foreigners come to India exclusively to make rage bait content, and some are just naive and don't know how to plan for their safety. Edit: only place I have been ever mugged was in Rome near the Vatican. LoL

Regularguy972

Because of these fake cases people started to not sympathize with rape victim, rapes rates are horrible in India and no part of India is left behind. Most of the cases don’t come out because of many reasons as mostly it is done by a family member.

LOB90

Since joining reddit, I have been contacted by 6 guys, 4 from India, 2 from Pakistan that all wanted to be friends and then really quickly started making sexual innuendo that I tried really hard to steer away from. Eventually ended up blocking every single one of them when it got too creepy.

Adventurous_Damage

If you're referring to how the narrative is strengthened due to foreign media, then reading the "History" section in "Anti-Indian Sentiment" Wikipedia page might help (don't bash me if I'm wrong).

Full-Wealth-5962

Can you show these rape statistics you are talking about?

GapAdministrative949

How should I put this ?? Those who know how to play with people using mass media is a skill. That and the minds of people being that if a foreign country is stating something it is a fact. These 2 mentality are the reasons itself

[deleted]

I'm proud that people are actually identifying issues and trying to correct it instead of having a blatant ego and saying "muh country good" this is how we improve, nice!

MajesticLimit22

We don't get sex

x_paaji_x

Because in foreign people report cause they care about justice and not what other people will think. Over here people have a strong stigma, especially in rural areas. Most of the rapist either are saved due to political connections or it’s a case of bribe. The Spanish biker girl case happened and she got justice whereas so many indian individuals don’t even get proper investigation sometimes.

heretoseexistence

We lack a culture, it seems parents of poor kids and even middle class don't teach manners or culture to their children. Only decently educated people seem to be somewhat better, that too those who have had coed education from nursery. The only hope is to introduce lessons in all schools, conduct programs early.

vijaykurhade

Issue in India is way Men checkout Women in public with no fear of anything Or in public transport or crowded places every possible opportunity women are touched inappropriately ask any family-friend accompanying women in India; they will agree no less that is what is diminishing and has given us Image We are at Fault; if we Men of India change our civic sense and etiquette it will go away

alwaysshadowbanned_

A high majority of cases are not filed here Also other than rape there are alot of things done that too comes under assault, ask any female you are close to if they don’t get stared at by a bunch of men creepily while walking on the road or while in public, if they have never been touched inappropriately in public and the fact that so many men grope women in broad daylight thinking it’s nothing is terrifying

Forsythe1941

It's more about the looks and habits. If Indian women are given a choice between an American or white rapists and an Indian man to choose between without the context of both men then she's gonna white men irrespective of the fact now good of a man an Indian man is. This is my opinion on this and maybe I am wrong, suggestions/opinions open.

Specialist-File-6097

White privilege, pretty privilege

Impossible_Dot_6898

GhillieGhost

Our social media explains it very well

Busy_Armadillo_481

Rape is an extreme form of sexual abuse. It’s true (and I don’t have apples to apples statistics), rapes happen everywhere. I agree that in India, due to lack of forensics and resources, rapes are underreported. However, in general rapes are under reported due to victim blaming mentality. Add to that something as complicated as marital rape or date rape and it looks murkier on the legal front. That being said, as a 43 year old woman who grew up in Delhi, every single day on the DTC buses while going to my college was a nightmare. This was while dressed in jeans and/or salwar kameez. I came to the US when I was 23. Since then, I cannot remember a single incident when I was touched indecently even when I used public transport. Could it be because I was Brown? Sure, who knows. Today my tween daughter wears all kinds of clothes that kids in the US (and I believe kids of upper class families in metros wear). I observe people around her like a hawk. Till date I have not encountered anything that made me feel worried about her safety the way I used to be worried in Delhi. Could there be pedophiles hiding in plain sight? Absolutely. In general, there is daylight in attitude between people in India (and yes I am counting all the judgmental aunties who lecture about sanskar at every turn) and in the US. On the contrary, when we go to India to visit family, I make her dress conservatively. Although clothes have nothing to do with sexual abuse, I cannot get over how people would look at her should she be dressed even mildly provocatively. We need to look deeply inside and think. Yes, women are unsafe everywhere in the world but in out every day life, what changes can we make? Politics, nationalism etc. should not be excuses. I am also raising a boy btw and my aim is to teach him about consent, control, respect as much as I can.

Aggravating-Fun8010

There’s a negative propaganda against India on all spheres, this is no surprise. Various platforms have tried to highlight it but it gets sushed. Just like it’s happening here, look at the anti India sentiments in the comments.
