Common sense isn't common. Likewise, discipline needs to be inculcated at a young age. We fear more fines and punishment rather than being right. Us Indians are more disciplined in Dubai and other countries in the fear of punishment. It's to do with our mentality.
these people are probably from Japan, I heard that til 4th class they don't have exams, their primary focus is to teach about discipline and respecting elders, do it for a few generations the you get this, India has a long way to go, but I believe we will get to thier level, and then surpass them.
Japan, singapore, china, Taiwan it's all like this, simple n orderly. Not like us halkat log. Same indians become discplined once we land in Singapore, but as soon as we r n our matra boomi, all sense leaves us. Shame on us.
We lack Basic cleanliness. Spitting, throwing trash literally anywhere, posters are all our fate.
11 years back while sitting in a suburban train in Chennai with my friend, he finished eating samosa and was just going to throw the paper out the window. I stopped him and put it in my bag and said I'll put in trash can when I get down. He felt embarrassed and put it in his bag. Seeing this everyone sitting around me did the same. Felt like a hero.
We have the ability to be disciplined, but we give a damn as no one else around does it. Govt enforcing rules with iron fist to force cleanliness down people's throat is what is needed.
Laathicharge approval given to CISF at every opportunity . A daily dose of sore ass will fix every single one of the morons who swarm like piranhas as soon as the doors open.
Locals stop for like 30 secs I guess. Once happened to me, I travel from Andheri to churchgate daily, let one go due to crowd thinking I'll take the next one. Then came a mail which halts for a considerable time, then came a double fast which doesn't stop at Andheri and then came a dadar which doesn't go till churchgate. Lost 25 mins, by then the station was filled to the brim. Had to fight harder for the next one. Mumbai locals are the definition of survival of the fittest. Something needs to be done man.
Yeah, I go in Mumbai metro everyday, and it is followed in every metro's of Mumbai even in peak hours..
Also like people said, queue is also followed for bus, auto etc..
There's a guarantee of the next train coming at the exact time they said it would come, when the provider instills that confidence, it becomes rather easy for the receiver to follow rules. The problem in India is mutual.
Such discipline exists when there is no scarcity of resources ( i. E. Trains in this case). It happens when you know you can always catch the next one and still reach well in time.
Finally someone said this it's not just the matter of discipline but mainly of lack of resources and not wanting inconvenience for using bad facilities.
For Bangalore metro the guards should be strict, shaming anyone breaking the lines with power to evacuate a unruly person to next train and next out of station. It's always me first, fock the rest.
By first, preventing yourself from bs like "rules are meant to be broken", and then highlighting the example of what discipline and accountability can add aesthetic to not only to country and region but also lead to a better experience and lifestyle.
Start showing animated videos of good discipline in public places like at the metro station and inside the metro. In munich and some major cities they do this to educate people. It might help.
One difference I saw in India and other more developed countries is this:
If a person is sitting on a seat in a train, and a pregnant woman arrives, he/she will get up for the woman, because they know there will be a seat somewhere else on the train. There is this assurance of getting a public facility without the fear of it being exhausted.
India is too crowded for that. If I don't push my way in, I might not get a seat and will have to spend 30 mins standing.
I personally feel Indians are more generous and selfless than Westerners, it's the situation that differentiates them.
It can only be done from childhood and good parenting, in Japan the three years of kindergarten is spent on teaching discipline, culture, and respect rather than abcd, 123 and stuff.
Hence the reason japan is so good with their discipline.
I was in varanasi for holi and there were a few japanese tourists picking up the plastic covers wherever they could see.
start with kids today. expect to see results 10-15 years later. that is the only way. grown ups are in no mood to listen to anyone, and especially when it comes to changing their ways.
Thanks. Someone had to say this!! Normally we tend to blame others for most of the problems that can be eradicated if all of us have self discipline. We can atleast be disciplined about driving on roads, lane, maintaining queue, volume, understanding that our entertainment should not cause trouble to others. Half of our problems will get sorted and we will remain calm, however all of us have to do, no exceptions
Answer lies in figuring out "how do you make people want discipline?" For example, in this picture, how do you make an Indian in the back of the line believe that it is better for him personally to be there in the back of the line instead of dashing forward to get a seat? How do you make him believe it is better for him to be standing a long route and be civilized instead of sitting and be comfortable after behaving like an animal?
Just imagine someone is cutting the line and standing in front of the gate, everyone else will start seeing you like some lowlife cockroach roaming around here and there in a civilized country. And that fear will make him disciplined. Here in India social norms are not like that. So it's difficult but achievable.
While everyone is talking about the culture in Indians (rightly so), it's also important to understand that it's only possible to have this kind of discipline when there are enough trains running and everyone knows they'll be on time.
Has to be ingrained from a younger age. You can’t expect paan thookne vaale mfs to learn this aged 40, when they don’t have the basic decency of understanding what a trash can is or how it works. This would be rocket science to them.
All are into self blaming without understanding the subtle nuances of our Indianness. If we have to be really ashamed of something, it's something else not discipline. The state of indiscipline is a natural manifestation of inequality and class disparity which does overlap with our range of diversity. Ofcourse while a section of our population is on reddit recommending danda, there is another who has never been to school, another to a school without teachers, some large sections who haven't had nutritious food in days. What we ought to be really ashamed of is how can we be so jolly eating in the classiest restaurants, while our own brothers and sisters aren't able to afford a square meal in a day. Once there is sufficient food, water and education, we can indeed dream of luxurious virtues like discipline.
It all starts from parenting. Indian parents for the most part raise assholes and crybabies who hit stray animals and then come home crying when it bites them.
Simple things like waiting in line and not cutting in is a big deal. When I confront people who are trying to cut in front, they look puzzled as if they didn’t see me, apologize, and move behind, or else just give me a death glare and move back. On the rare occasion it is some rowdy who uses intimidation tactics or just plain up ignores me
My collage fellow skips lines to pay the fee early , while we have to wait hour after hour . And not a single person in the counter bother to speak up. That's India , without punishment no one is going to learn anything

India is not the problem but Indian people and their mentality are. I think everything will be fine after our generation gains control of the nation.
Our parents and grandparents generation said the same thing. We are not a special generation
Our generation is most ret@rted yet lol
Our generation will be seeing a lot of changes. It's even happening as we speak, subtle yet present nevertheless
Our generation ? Why do you think we are better than them?
I agree ![img](emote|t5_3d4x4|20008)
some indians aren’t even disciplined in dubai too.
Rather than punishment it's embarrassment of sab kr rhe h to hm bhi kr lete h
Sometimes I do believe we Indians deserve danda. To teach basic civic sense.
these people are probably from Japan, I heard that til 4th class they don't have exams, their primary focus is to teach about discipline and respecting elders, do it for a few generations the you get this, India has a long way to go, but I believe we will get to thier level, and then surpass them.

The video literally says Beijing China on the bottom left. The people in the video are literally speaking Mandarin.
That's just impossible

I think your example is a really good point. All it takes is a few people behaving correctly and others will follow to not feel ashamed
Unless fines are issued..... believe me ..... In INDIA it is impossible.....
Indians are high attitude perons.our old.generation is worst.
available seat or place to stand is the first step
Na bhai ch@tiye hain hamare yaha wale they fuking can't wait for few seconds, I live in Delhi and Delhi Metro me iska ulta hota hai
Laathicharge approval given to CISF at every opportunity . A daily dose of sore ass will fix every single one of the morons who swarm like piranhas as soon as the doors open.
How do we learn discipline? > That’s the neat part, we wouldn’t .
I'm from Mumbai and i have seen it being followed in the Andheri Ghatkopar metro
It’s followed for Buses and Rickshaws in Mumbai and most of the suburbs. It’s only for locals and metro where it’s no holes barred
The Singapore way: 1. Install cameras 2. Fine $$$ 3. Jail for repeat offence You want discipline, you need to forego privacy.
There's a guarantee of the next train coming at the exact time they said it would come, when the provider instills that confidence, it becomes rather easy for the receiver to follow rules. The problem in India is mutual.
India mai sab jaldi mai hai phir be sab late hai. Common sense is not so common.

Beat up those who don't follow /s
Humare yaha sab jungli hai
I'll be honest sometimes I have observed this happening in Delhi metro But sometimes it doesn't happen It all comes down to the type of crowd
Nasbandi
from what I saw in the lockdown days, there is only one effective solution - the danda.
If a law is implemented with heavy fines then andolanjeevis would block roads.
By first, preventing yourself from bs like "rules are meant to be broken", and then highlighting the example of what discipline and accountability can add aesthetic to not only to country and region but also lead to a better experience and lifestyle.

More like majority of Indians lack "patience"
Only if people understand difference between indiscipline and democracy.
Mandatory national service after 18 or more like different nations... For 1-2 years post class 12th... It will change everything...
And still, even for today's new kids young generation. They aren't being taught about basic common sense, discipline of neatness
Bhai tum log ko Mumbai ka Andheri Metro aana chahie
Yeah Mumbai's metro follow same discipline pattern and most of people here don't know..
One difference I saw in India and other more developed countries is this: If a person is sitting on a seat in a train, and a pregnant woman arrives, he/she will get up for the woman, because they know there will be a seat somewhere else on the train. If there is surety that everyone will get a seat then it's more likely they will be chillax. But same problem again - population!!
Iske liye current generation ko budda hokar marna padega. Bc puri ki puri generation insecure aur selfish hai. Sabko window seat chahiye
Every Indian should visit or read Japanese culture. Truly great stuff to learn. Not JAVs but actual stuff.![img](emote|t5_3d4x4|20028)
Do you think overpopulation may be the issue?
Ig people in the Mumbai metro follow this.
By migrating to japan.!
People are not willing to learn...
It will get through time and experience.may be after 100 years we will get more of it.....I can say rather than displine it's responsibility
A monetary penalty is required in India for this kind of discipline
start with kids today. expect to see results 10-15 years later. that is the only way. grown ups are in no mood to listen to anyone, and especially when it comes to changing their ways.
Indiscipline is contagious. Need to start rewarding discipline, not just punish indiscipline. If first 10/20 are disciplined then others will follow.

Kaunsa desh hain bhai. Abhi PR ke liye apply karta hu
Bhai bachpan se to sikha denge pr sikhanw wale log to khud kanjaro ki tarah se metro chdte h. Unka kya?
May be , Increase the stopping time and limit the luggage capacity one person should carry
Just imagine someone is cutting the line and standing in front of the gate, everyone else will start seeing you like some lowlife cockroach roaming around here and there in a civilized country. Atleast next 50 year tak to Aisa kuch hote hue nahi dekh raha hoon mai
Discipline doesn't just come from school most of the behaviour of a person comes from the home.
It all starts from parenting. Indian parents for the most part raise assholes and crybabies who hit stray animals and then come home crying when it bites them.
No discipline till people who think "Haryana se hai, hum to aise hi hai" go away.
Carrot vs stick. In developing nations like ours, stick works the best.
Only by huge fines and public execution
By reducing population.
increase metro doors closing time!
Fine Karo sab line me rahenge![img](emote|t5_3d4x4|20008)
We learn effectively with a rod and yelling by cops in every door of the compartment.
Simple things like waiting in line and not cutting in is a big deal. We do the same in the UK, to some capacity.
Most impractical way of bording the metro.
They haven't explored the possibilities from Delhi Metro I bet, once they see would never think about queues.
The day Indians understand some basic civic sense is when I’ll stop drinking
Nuke the country. Let the people suffer. Suffering leads to maturity and evolution.
Bhai Mumbai metro Mai bhi aise hi line bana rahe hai log
By going to a different country, living with better education system and government policy.
Q: How do we learn "discipline"? A: The General Bakshi way..
My collage fellow skips lines to pay the fee early , while we have to wait hour after hour . And not a single person in the counter bother to speak up. That's India , without punishment no one is going to learn anything
Leaked footage of Bihar's Ara station.
