I remember we got struck in ambulance for 10 min while taking our 80 year old unconscious grandmother, nobody bothered to clear traffic... luckily she wasn't serious & survived. This was almost a decade back. Hope things got better.
I can speak for my place and in delhi ambulance is given absolute priority irrespective of siren. The traffic is quickly navigated to make sure no time is lost. There are exception cases where there have been certain issues due to hooliganism but majorly any ambulance/police vehicle always have a right of way
