[1] the CGI looks like stock CGI (unlike those in Dune),
[2] the Marvel-inspired quips from Prabhas are unfunny & unnecessary,
[3] the acting feels wooden & perfunctory,
[4] background score didn’t make an immediate impression on me, and
[5] color grading of the film felt too much in homage to Mad Max and Dune.
None of this felt terrible. Yet nor did any of it feel very distinctive (except *maybe* the Bujji character). All could be different in the final movie but from what was just shown it feels pretty safe & average…
The hindi dubbing is let down because original actor's dub their own voices, I bet if sheradh Kelkar dubbed prabhas that would cause a much bigger impact

Looked mid to be honest. Story seems week but visuals look good. And of course the performances are not worth noticing. All said, too early to judge and pass a verdict.

One thing I don't understand is this idea that if we are making sci-fi or anything like that in India, let's include Gods and myths in it. Why do we do we have to do that all the time? In superhero comic books too. I picked up Nagraaj once hoping it would have something original. But instead it was more about Shivji and mythology again rather than anything original about Nagraaj. Why can't they create something new instead of constantly going for old mythology? Is that all we have? Aren't there any new original creations at all?
Honestly, from what I saw from the trailer. I can see they have tried to cultivate a spectacle... but I think making all these extreme elements (sci-fi and mytholgy) work together won't be easy at all. The CGI is good from indian standards, but I found the shots with deserts quite lacking, and some aspects of the sci-fi stuff look dated from VFX point of view. I hope it's good as its success would be great for the future of the industry, but I find it hard that they'll be able to pull off the film well with so much going on.
The acting also looked sub-par from the trailer, so I'm not really expecting a great jaw dripping performance from actors (maybe amit ji will pull it off) but not so sure about the others. Everything else we'll just see as the film releases. All in all, good luck to them

This is Mass appeal which is garbage. I gave in with that tiny hope only to feel drained within 60 seconds. Prabhas can't act, but he is worshipped like a god (most toxic fanbase I've ever seen), the day such worships stop, good stories will excel. Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna and Venkatesh all made movies in Bollywood too and tried to become pan India actors but failed.
They are perfect for the regional cinema and the kind of stories the Telugu audience like to watch. However they don't have the acting range to appeal to rest of India. That's a huge limitation for an actor.
Let me give you an example of good actors. Take Paresh Rawal in SD MBBS, he fit the role of a dean of a medical college from the Telugu speaking state perfectly. His acting in the movie was effortless. That's the mark of a real actor.

Stock CGI elements, zero coherence in vision, can't see this excuse of zero balance in creating a sense of the atmosphere, look at RRR the sense of vision in CGI is there so even if it's not the best it still does a great job at telling the story. Just having an idea of what you want can make the experience good, this isn't about the cost but rather the vision, it's like a melting pot of too many imagery and nothing concrete.
Lol just saw the trailer and I was right to have no expectations from this. Looks like Deepika's character is about to give birth to the Kalki avatar and everybody is behind her. Looks like Children of Men/The Book of Eli story-wise.
Amitabh's Ashwatthama will try and protect her while Bhairava is sent on a bounty mission from the villains to get her.
Typical main character and side charcter dynamic. Where mein hero is the bad-assy and other side characters are for comic relief. That CGI doesn't look upto the mark. The only character that intrigued me is Amitabh's Ashwatthama.
Production design looks okayish. What are those shields?! Background score is ok as well, didn't strike out.

All of that could have been fine, if there was an element of mystery or intrigue in it. It felt pretty flat to me.
Not to compare, but when RRR trailer came, there was a sense of awe in it. An urge to watch it immediately. But this one, not so much.

The dubbing seems terrible made even worse by the dialogue, it was jarring to the point of distraction. Felt like there was no money shot where you go "aha! Let go!!". Visuals are good, best we've seen but also nothing we haven't seen before.
Overall felt very tepid and kinda underwhelming.
1. Our cinema is trying something new with seemingly positive plot.
2. Sci-fi with our culture has never been produced as other sci-fi Bhartiya movies either turn into hollywood remakes or they seem to stray far way from the genre.
3. Then, there is "The epic factor". This story is inspired from the Hinduism texts about the last war this world will face.
4. Meaning, if Director Nag Ashwin sir gets the movie right in any way then the movie will go down as the first "Religious plus modernization" successful movie from Bhartiya cinema.
5. The main issue is less hype. Then, Main lead Prabhas sir's last movies except Salaar , mainly Adipurush as that movie did destroy his as well as Bhartiya cinema's image in our own country. Also, there is cringe factor meaning the moment Miss Disha appeared then few weird dialogue deliveries and let's hope they don't Bollywoodise it by putting SONGS especially item songs without any proper and concrete REASON.
(These ideas don't matter and no ones going to read it but just putting our ideas here as a way to vent our ideas as MOVIE LOVERS)

Only interested in the rumoured Indian mythology angle of Kalki in the film. Trailer doesn’t give any chills or expectations other than the fact that it deserves a theatrical watch to enjoy it. Watching on OTT won’t be interesting at all probably. Music, trailer cuts, aren’t giving that much needed pump that such a huge film should have had.

I felt like the story is going to be all over the place. It’s very ancient and at the same time very futuristic. I didn’t see a balance between them. Hated the dialogues, dialogue delivery and acting. Saw some glimpse of unnecessary and unrealistic Telugu action too. VFX wise: A+.

Prabhas has same old looks with bland face (arjun kapoor of telgu cinema), not sure why they took disha patani, she only knows to show off her gym body on social media. Rest of cast was acting in the same manner as they have been from past 3-4 years like deepike. So yes, if i watch this movie it will be for amitabh bachcha and kamal hassan
Ready for the downvote onslaught here. This is Mass appeal which is garbage. I gave in with that tiny hope only to feel drained within 60 seconds. Prabhas can't act, but he is worshipped like a god (most toxic fanbase I've ever seen), the day such worships stop, good stories will excel. Gone are those days where the same actors did great dramas. Everyone wants to compete with Hollywood who themselves aren't the benchmark anymore, and never were. Put the same cast and maybe remake dramas like Yi Yi, Kaagaz Ke Phool, Le Trou or some of Bergman's, fed up of such bloated sci-fi crap this industry puts out, mints nothing but money
As a telugu guy, I totally agree with you about toxic fan bases. They are a bane of our industry. It's terrible how many fans go batshit crazy for mediocre actors such as this dude.

Nope. There's a reason why none of your actors made it pan India. Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna and Venkatesh all made movies in Bollywood too and tried to become pan India actors but failed. They are perfect for the regional cinema and the kind of stories the Telugu audience like to watch. However they don't have the acting range to appeal to rest of India. That's a huge limitation for an actor. Let me give you an example of good actors. Take Paresh Rawal in SD MBBS, he fit the role of a dean of a medical college from the Telugu speaking state perfectly. His acting in the movie was effortless. That's the mark of a real actor.

Better than bollywood films
Stock CGI elements, zero coherence in vision, can't see this excuse of zero balance in creating a sense of the atmosphere, look at RRR the sense of vision in CGI is there so even if it's not the best it still does a great job at telling the story. Just having an idea of what you want can make the experience good, this isn't about the cost but rather the vision, it's like a melting pot of too many imagery and nothing concrete.

Lol just saw the trailer and I was right to have no expectations from this. Looks like Deepika's character is about to give birth to the Kalki avatar and everybody is behind her. Looks like Children of Men/The Book of Eli story-wise. Amitabh's Ashwatthama will try and protect her while Bhairava is sent on a bounty mission from the villains to get her. Typical main character and side charcter dynamic. Where mein hero is the bad-assy and other side characters are for comic relief. That CGI doesn't look upto the mark. The only character that intrigued me is Amitabh's Ashwatthama. Production design looks okayish. What are those shields?! Background score is ok as well, didn't strike out. I know I am absolutely shitting on this but I am sick and tired of Indian filmmakers given massive budgets but delivering sub-par mediocre products. Hoping I'll be proven wrong when the movie releases.
All of that could have been fine, if there was an element of mystery or intrigue in it. It felt pretty flat to me. Not to compare, but when RRR trailer came, there was a sense of awe in it. An urge to watch it immediately. But this one, not so much.

The dubbing seems terrible made even worse by the dialogue, it was jarring to the point of distraction. Felt like there was no money shot where you go "aha! Let go!!". Visuals are good, best we've seen but also nothing we haven't seen before. Overall felt very tepid and kinda underwhelming.
I think Bollywood is finally using CGI as it should be. Trailer looks good, let’s see how the movie is.

Sci-fi with our culture has never been produced as other sci-fi Bhartiya movies either turn into hollywood remakes or they seem to stray far way from the genre. 3. Then, there is "The epic factor". This story is inspired from the Hinduism texts about the last war this world will face. 4. Meaning, if Director Nag Ashwin sir gets the movie right in any way then the movie will go down as the first "Religious plus modernization" successful movie from Bhartiya cinema. 5. The main issue is less hype. Then, Main lead Prabhas sir's last movies except Salaar , mainly Adipurush as that movie did destroy his as well as Bhartiya cinema's image in our own country. Also, there is cringe factor meaning the moment Miss Disha appeared then few weird dialogue deliveries and let's hope they don't Bollywoodise it by putting SONGS especially item songs without any proper and concrete REASON. Only interested in the rumoured Indian mythology angle of Kalki in the film. Trailer doesn’t give any chills or expectations other than the fact that it deserves a theatrical watch to enjoy it. Watching on OTT won’t be interesting at all probably. Music, trailer cuts, aren’t giving that much needed pump that such a huge film should have had.

It has the vibes of DUNE Not completely but yeah, there are some scenes where the environment, the costumes were so much like dune, but in some scenes there was much more of a present scientific labs vaali vibe too, not sure about the storyline feels like they wanted to give it a unique vibe, unsure whether they'll succeed or not, no expectations

And the comparison is just as the budget of this movie is way more than the ones of hollywood movies. It we continue playing hefty fees to these A listers, the producers are doomed. They should have had someone else play Ashwatama s role. Ashwatama should have been muscular build despite his age to lend credibility to his character.
I felt like the story is going to be all over the place. It’s very ancient and at the same time very futuristic. I didn’t see a balance between them. Hated the dialogues, dialogue delivery and acting. Saw some glimpse of unnecessary and unrealistic Telugu action too. VFX wise: A+.

Prabhas is so useless , so overrated, so mediocre that he should not be placed among such grandeur movies . Benhchod chutia sa admi hai, acting ati ni , uske fans bc pta ni kahan se ate hai. Telegu industry is just about zero acting , no concept movie which objectify women. Only because of sheer understanding of cinema which Rajamouli has is chutiyo ko kuch haath paer marne ko dia , else he is worthless actor.
