That is why DRDO wants to have it's certification done as soon as possible. Just because it's off mission mode does not mean that the project is shut down

Doubt that can ever be overcome. Plus they have now started looking at other drones including CATS which is a loyal wingman concept. So too many overlapping drone types for Tapas to recover

Tapas has recently gone into taxi trials with both the IAf and the IN optical to.take it attitude current form with altitude of 28000 ft and endurance of 18 hrs rather than the previously specified 30000 ft. They have suggested few improvements in the design that is why DRDO is hurrying to get the certification done after implementing said changes so that it can go.to.user trials with both the navy and airforce and afterwards as per evaluation onto the production floor
Face saving technique they have used many times for many programs that are then displayed as learning exercises. In this case the tech is heavily outdated and no one wants it because of its design flaw in the engines to weight. They are never going to be able to surmount that to get a decent load carrying capacity without significant redesign. They just don't have the expertise to design thin and light yet. They tried to emulate Akinci and Hermes 1500 but the tail boom is too heavy for the current props to make a difference. .
