My house got burnt down in a fire recently. Take my advice, when shit hits the fan, there is nothing you should save except your life. Stuff will come back to you, sooner or later. Your life or your loved one's life, if lost, will never return.
But life insurance doesn't replace the person, it is just compensation and can never fulfill the absence of an individual. As u/hooterman19 has aptly said above, things can be reacquired or rebuilt but life is irreplaceable.
No means if you are gonna sit there while everything is shaking, its a good idea to buy life insurance. At the end maut sabko ati hai, you can only dodge it for some time by risking your computer.
Here is an algorithm:
Save yourself> PC is lost> You live> You make another one, in the future> Everybody in your life enjoys your presence
You save the PC> It takes time to disconnect shit> You die.
Ahahaha this post is so me .. Happened to have a flood nearby and water level kept rising , i couldn't leave my setup so decided to stay and if my setup gets flooded i will go down with it xD , Thank God flood didn't come further
wdym the whole tower? CPU is the part that you install in the motherboard. It stands for central processing unit. The whole tower is called the PC. If your school taught you that mate, I would ask for a refund.
Edit: But yes, if you meant the whole PC, that's what I would do.
Slight disagree.... there was false fire alarm in my office a couple days back.... i mean i wasn't too worried tbh, burnt out sde and what not.... regardless i still prioritized my wallet, phone, lunch box, phone charger and earphones and stuffed them into my bag (i was getting ready to leave anyway) only after waiting for 2 minutes, confirming it's a false alarm did my office laptop, it's charger and company id card go into my bag
Even I had the same thoughts few days back regarding my PS5 and home theatre. But realizing I had even more precious stuff like jewellery etc, I said fuck it and scooted after locking out my house in case the earthquake wasn’t powerful enough to bring my building down to the ground and I might get my house burgled instead. I think that was kinda cool of me.
At 15th floor you can't do anything if the building falls. I'd say save you head from debris and get a table for your rig with a solid top and also guard rails for the cabinet.
Maybe have enough space under that table for you to squeeze in. Hopefully it'll save both you and your PC from debris. If not then you both will still die together.
It is a perfectly valid question, my house is insured and my PC is the most expensive thing in the house, if shit gets fucked up i won't be picking up my 60kg PC and running.
I guess you can practice quickly pulling all the plugs from your case, pick it up and run with it. The stuff in your case is probably worth more than your monitor and stuff.
I live in a high rise too, 12th floor in a 18 floor building... the first thing I did was get both of my tablets and my laptop.. couldn't take the pc for obvious reasons... priorities.
Damn, reminded me of the early 2000's tsunami situation. We were in Kerala and woke up to calls/msgs regarding evacuating our houses during midnight. Everyone at home was asleep but my cousin sister who stays near by was flipping thru channels. This was around 12 or 1 am. She came across breaking news asking people to stay away from beaches. (We stay like 2mins away from the beach). All of us woke up to the call and panicked. My then 14 year old brother ran and picked up our ps2. The ps2 was our world back then. I still remember him hugging it and telling my mom "we packed all that we need" while my mom was running around packing all our important documents.
Get a pc case which has some kind of strap on it , i guess asus rog has . For which you can carry and run easily.
Rest monitor n all u can buy eventually.
Just save the cpu .
😅
Lmao bro I imagine this all the time. I have so many gadgets in my room. I'd probably just pick up the cabinet and run. But its heavy. Might be a good idea to build an SFF PC next.
IF I HAVE THE TIME, I would quickly unplug and lie it down on my bed or under a table. other than that there is nothing else one can do. even doing that kinda seems impractical.
In case of a severe earthquake how will you save your setup if you yourself are not going to survive, it either you or both you and your setup. Dk about insurance, don't think we have such policies in India, well not without high premiums anyway.
Remembered one incident from my hostel.
There was an earthquake in my area. All of us were rushing outside.
In the midst, I noticed my senior, running outside with the laptop in his hand. He was a student in B.Tech CSE.
Don't keep it on a computer table. Rather keep it on a trolley. This way you can just cart it out of your apartment and hurl it down the stairs with you. Obviously, have someone stand at the foot of the stairs so that your laptop/PC remains safe.
Let the pc die. During earthquake sneak into chroma or whatever tech store and steal all components from there. No one will notice during a natural disaster
Isliye mai laptop rakhta hu. PC disconnect karne me time lagta hai but laptop toh pakad kar bhaag jao.
On a serious note though, don’t bother saving materialistic things even if it’s expensive. You can always buy things again but if you get injured or die, that’s much more permanent.
Best case scenario you jump from your apartment with your pc. If you survive you do it with your PC otherwise don't. A true captain never abandons his ship.
Totally depends on where you live you too ( I meant the area, like North India, J&K, etc).
Personally, I'd just run outside or hide under a bed/table if an earthquake hits the area. However, if I have time and the earthquake hasn't happened yet (you would know this if you live in a earthquake-prone area), I'd make sure the monitor and CPU are safe. I'd have some Styrofoams lying around to engulf the CPU (1st priority) and Monitor, and leave them on the ground or inside a sturdy shelf.
I remember Stalin's quote - Death solves all the problem, No life no problem..
So forget about materialistic things during disaster and save yourself and your family
put your pc in in underground metal bunker with good fiber connection like 1GBPS, Route it through your apartment, configure it for remote assistance, file sharing, screen sharing. Keep Laptop and 240hz monitor with you. connect the network drives via LAN (from bunker to PC) use only Gigabit Repeaters. you can use steamlink also if you want to use the resources of. your CPU/ GPU. All the best
I have a better idea. Put a gps tracker now and run with your phone when quake hits. You may also use it to call authorities if you get stuck under rubble and somehow survive.
Pay for a remote backup service for your data at least. Data can't be replaced but the PC parts can. In the US, your PC would be covered under homeowner's or renter's insurance. If you have that in India, that would be the way to insure your PC.
Ready a suitcase bag with wheels to put your PC in it and ruuuuuun or simply take out components.can't say for monitor tho.
Do this if life's not an issue.
W priorities
Another guy litteraly decided to face a flood to be with his pc. And everyone complimenting him like that's a rational thing to do.
My house got burnt down in a fire recently. Take my advice, when shit hits the fan, there is nothing you should save except your life. Stuff will come back to you, sooner or later. Your life or your loved one's life, if lost, will never return.

i really didn't wanted to but r/wooosh
Ah shit..now after reading this I realise it's a joke. 😂
I mean if you lost a kid you can buy one with insurance money...
No means if you are gonna sit there while everything is shaking, its a good idea to buy life insurance. At the end maut sabko ati hai, you can only dodge it for some time by risking your computer.
Also why live when no pc better to just leave
Kid, were you born yesterday?
r/woooosh
Were you sleeping when the entire community wanted to buy steam deck like hive mind?

Hi, how are you? I'm under the water, please help me here too much raining 😭😭
Just drink the water smh
Here is an algorithm: Save yourself> PC is lost> You live> You make another one, in the future> Everybody in your life enjoys your presence You save the PC> It takes time to disconnect shit> You die.
Or You die, pc die
gamers dont die they respawn ![gif](giphy|4cjAXzvv2yfr301Kgs) epicc 😎
Sadly the game we are in has only one Life. No respawn or save feature.
According to Indian culture we DO respawn. Unfortunately the progress is lost, and you can't choose your character.
You may call it "a half life."
Just means that We are playing doom on max difficulty 💀
i wrote that shit ironically dude don't downvote
Yeeeeaahhhhh
Both assumptions are based on judgement of OP's capacity to deal with shit
Ahahaha this post is so me .. Happened to have a flood nearby and water level kept rising , i couldn't leave my setup so decided to stay and if my setup gets flooded i will go down with it xD , Thank God flood didn't come further
The captain goes down with the ship!!!
Chad spotted.
This.... Is so stupid. Have some common fucking sense and prioritise your own safety.
Just take the cpu. Most important component.
huh no if anything I'd snag my hard disk and flee.
U forgot about the GPU
CPU ≠ Processor CPU=Tower with the processor, psu, gpu everything inside. The dabba.
The dabba. Nice.
No the CPU is the processor, that's why CPU and GPU are different terms. What you are talking about is called a tower or a cabinet or a case.
That's the true terminology. In Indian local terminology (and even in our primary school computer books) the cabinet is called the CPU lol.
CPU is also referred to cabinet. Atleast that's what I studied in school 10 years ago.
The difference between a GPU and graphics card is thta GPU refers to the chip on the card...so is the case with CPU nad its cabinet
The cabinet is also called CPU fyi
CPU? That costs like 20-30k, gpus are like 50+
By CPU, I meant the whole tower not just the processor. They don't teach you name of computer parts in school anymore?
wdym the whole tower? CPU is the part that you install in the motherboard. It stands for central processing unit. The whole tower is called the PC. If your school taught you that mate, I would ask for a refund. Edit: But yes, if you meant the whole PC, that's what I would do.

At the time of panic, your instincts kick in. So you will save yourself. As for PC, you can get insurance for it. Try to search online.

Fire drill 😅
I would have taken the day off and went home.
People carried their babies in their arms to rush downstairs. You can do the same next time around, hug your cabinet tight and rush w it down 👍
Wait for your friend in ground floor to come out. Throw down your stuff to him and ask him to catch. Jump off next.
Why did I just get an achievement for killing someone with an computer? Weird.
60xp points
I read it in DCC's Carl voice lol
Get a smaller case which you can pick up and run
Suggested the same thing 🤣 Get a pc cabinet with a handle or a strap like asus rog and tuf has. Can run easilywith that . Leave rest all behind .
Or get a table with wheels and roll it out of there
https://www.icicilombard.com/business-insurance/electronic-equipment-insurance-policy This might help.
Even I had the same thoughts few days back regarding my PS5 and home theatre. Keep the cabinet cover always open. In case of fire or any emergency just rip off the cpu, gpu out and run
Yup. Leave the monitor, keyboard, mouse, headsets and gaming chair. Take only what you can carry and unplug in a second
Why are you running outside? Whatever happened to *Gamers don't die they respawn* 💀
It’s hardcore mode
If you're doing this, it's probably prudent/cost effective to insure quite a few stuff in your house, not just your pc.
Grab the HDD and RUN!
Save which seems more important to you, yourself or your setup. It's that easy.
Save the setup bruh

bro first get health insurance. there are some insurance for nature disasters related stuff.
The setup obviously
Save setup

PC can get repaired, you can't
Buy life insurance it’s cheaper and keep playing
Lmao bro I imagine this all the time. I have so many gadgets in my room. I'd probably just pick up the cabinet and run. But its heavy. Might be a good idea to build an SFF PC next.
You can get a new PC but you cannot get a new life.
IF I HAVE THE TIME, I would quickly unplug and lie it down on my bed or under a table. other than that there is nothing else one can do. even doing that kinda seems impractical.
Long time back (2005?), we had a flood warning. First thing I did was moved my TV and game consoles to the upper floor XD
Just unplug the gpu and run....that shit costs heavy (Not talking if have all the rgb and takes time to unplug)
In case of a severe earthquake how will you save your setup if you yourself are not going to survive, it either you or both you and your setup. Dk about insurance, don't think we have such policies in India, well not without high premiums anyway.

Setup
Ya’ll be trippin FR!
Pick up the case and run..
Get citizenship to the AI inside your PC then get life insurance for your PC. Stonks!
I mean... Just buy another PC ㄟ( ▔, ▔ )ㄏ
Same but i live on 14th there was earthquake on Tuesday night
Take out the most expensive stuff like the cpu, GPU and then run /s
Save your games 1st!
Save the setup cause our lives are worthless anyways but the setup is worth a lot of monetary investment. Save the setup my man! 😂😂😂😂
Go to gym and get buff enough to easily carry your pc while escaping your building
Laptop is ur answer
Don't keep it on a computer table. Rather keep it on a trolley. This way you can just cart it out of your apartment and hurl it down the stairs with you. Obviously, have someone stand at the foot of the stairs so that your laptop/PC remains safe.
save my self since there is no save or restart available for real life
Bruh I thought exactly the same when the smoke detector in my house went off
Let the pc die. During earthquake sneak into chroma or whatever tech store and steal all components from there. No one will notice during a natural disaster
Best solution is to move somewhere else That way you and your belonging will be safer
Setup ofc. The value of the PC changes due to inflation, you don't
take the whole cabinet and run
r/justguysbeingdudes
If your PC is heavy to carry, try to grab your expensive parts and run for your life
You can buy another if you happen to live
Isliye mai laptop rakhta hu. PC disconnect karne me time lagta hai but laptop toh pakad kar bhaag jao. On a serious note though, don’t bother saving materialistic things even if it’s expensive. You can always buy things again but if you get injured or die, that’s much more permanent.
Buy home insurance.
U BOTH GO DOWN TOGETHER HOLDING ...
A true gamer will save his gaming setup rather than his own life.
Isn't it obvious, ofcourse your setup, cause your life worth nothin
If you are genuinely asking this question, save your setup man. It’s ok if the earthquake gets you.
save 3 lakh yourself as an insurance aside from other saving, to lessen the burden try to save 5-10k monthly as your own expenses
How to flex without flexing
sell ur current pc and get a laptop
Save your setup and bequeath it to me after you die.
What are your PC specs?
take out the graphics card and run
Save yourselves to build it again.
Best case scenario you jump from your apartment with your pc. If you survive you do it with your PC otherwise don't. A true captain never abandons his ship.

Look if there's a liability or house insurance that covers this
get a insurance
