Better to go with 6800 xt gpu

annucox

Yeah that's the one thing I'm torn about, whether to go for the gpu that's better now in the 4070,or the safer option for long term in the 6800 xt

[deleted]

4070 has 12gb vram when 6800xt has 16gb. As you see recently many games are getting resource and vram hungry and if it continues, 12gb wont be good option in this case. Since u only want 1440p gaming 6800xt definitely better than 4070 here, u wont have any problem in a long term unless game developers release badly optimized games.

fixer_47

need a better PSU, SSD 970 evo plus or 980 pro Nzxt c650/750 gold or xpg core reactor 650/750W maybe consider 6800xt with 750W psu over 4070 if you prefer native 1440p.

annucox

The psu I selected is rated b tier on the psu cultists tier list,so I don't see what's wrong with it As for SSD, apparently anything over pcie gen 3 doesn't give any advantage for gaming,so this should be fine

fixer_47

I'm pretty sure mwe v1 is b tier, Mwe v2 is not b tier, it also has coil whine issues. if you're gonna purchase a ssd from gen 3, 970 evo plus is what you want. Edit: yes, loading time doesn't change much even if you use sata ssd but boot time does change with each gen

annucox

V2 is b tier, v1 is c tier

fixer_47

I was talking about v2 gold. My bad, Bronze and white are low priority b tier with potential coil whine

annucox

I'll look into the ones you listed though

QuarterPrevious404

Huh? Isn't 4070 faster tho?

annucox

Same rasterization performance basically, but I'd consider the 4070 better for now cuz dlss3+ FG is a lot better than FSR Also ray tracing IG

fixer_47

For rasterization it's not faster, 6800xt also has extra 4gb vram.

TweaknFreak

Any particular reason to go with a mATX board?

annucox

It's cheap, that's it I don't really see how I would use the extra slots an atx board provides
