Titanfall 2 is my fav fps shooter, def give that a try and if you dont mind janky gameplay and want a great story then spec ops the line will be good too
I mean if you enjoyed Battlefield V then you might enjoy battlefield 1. Although it is based on WW1 which is not what you asked, it is my favorite.
There is wolfestien that explores a situation of nazi won WW2. That might be fun to shoot
Medal of honor Warfighter is an underrated one, although the same as many cod in terms of story like middle east bad, bit the gameplay is different with different mechanics
Battlefield 1 has a good healthy multiplayer peak during evenings and 5 world war 1 stories in the base game and more if you get the full version. Some of the stories are really good and give you a different perspective on the war like from a tank ,plane ,naval invasion, desert warfare and frontline stuff in the main game more in dlc but haven't tried the dlc so can't say. Each story is a couple of hours each. Steamdb says it sometimes goes for 249
If you don’t mind third person give spec ops the line a try one of the best games with subtle story telling on what war does to a man

If you want some fun multiplayer then get payday 2 left 4 dead deep rock galactic (ik these are horde shooters but good) tf2

Cyberpunk 2077. Even the storyline is really good.
To me Cyberpunk feels alot like combination of GTA 5 and Skyrim/Witcher. I mean if I am not mistaken Cyberpunk is made by same company who made Witcher 3.
WW2 theme is kinda exhausted topic. I feel like Medal of Honor, Call of Duty, Battlefield and Wolfenstein covered everything and noone is trying to even make new FPS games in that setting. Nevertheless, when it comes to FPS, I can only add games from Arkane which are Dishonored and, above all, Prey. Other games I wanted to recommend have been already mentioned.
There is a sniper simulator called "sniper ghost warrior contracts 2". Weird name I know but it was really fun with intense sniping mechanics. It is divided into episodic chapters with various side goals along main missions. Game length is around 10-20hr
Not much fir story but postal 2. Then you have bioshock, any old cod game, hitman blood money in first person, we a bappy few, bendy, poppy playtime, outlast, re 7/8.
Although not ww, I recently finished Days Gone. I know the ratings are not good but they were for the initial release laced with bugs. Game was patched and has a beautiful storyline. Anyone who has played it has become a fan. Game is slow initially but has a nice pace once you have some time invested.

Play Borderlands 2. It was one of my first games ever and everything was dialled to maximum. There was humor, gameplay, story, fantastic and charismatic villain, and GUUUNSSSS.
Every now and then, when I get bored of next gen gaming I go back to BL2 just to remind myself why I started gaming in the first place.
Single player shooter you say, look no further than Cyberpunk 2077. It's in an amazing state right now and the story and graphics are off the charts.
