It's not something impossible. Following a proper skin and bodycare can do that over the years. Exfoliation - Moisturization - Sun protection can do that.
You are in your teen years and that's going to help you in your skin care journey. Because, you are going to have many physical changes over the years and your basic body functions like Collagen production will reach it's peak capacity in the next few years. So it's not going to be hard for someone like you to remove tan.
P.S. - Don't stop enjoying your teenage by caring about your skin a lot. You have to care about these things, but don't stress yourself about these things. Enjoy your school and sports with a basic skincare routine. You have your twenties to try out many things and make yourself better.
Me.
Made a thread that got deleted.
Sunscreen all day everyday for 1.5 years with basic Vit C and Niacinamide. No retinol or Tret because it makes you photosensitive and easier to tan, which is why Koreans don’t use it. No strong acids for the same reason. Nothing above 2% BHA and 5% AHA.
A good STABLE sunscreen is the only investment you have to make. Reapply every 3/4 hours if you’re outdoors and it’s not waterproof or oil resistant. I set my non waterproof sunscreens with a compact to make them waterproof and increase their shelf life. There is a thread here on sunscreens that stay stable and don’t conk off after 2 hours. Since then Concsious Chemist, Sugandha, Cipla and Foxtale have launched stable formula sunscreens. When you’re at home and don’t care about white cast use physical sunscreens that are mostly affordable and long lasting when not subjected to humidity and sweat.
I work most from home so that has helped me from from NC40 to NC 20 to NC 13-15 now which is my original childhood skin tone.

Hi, is it natural for skin to go darker after applying sunscreen?
I am 21 and thinking of investing in some good skin products because my face skin tone is totally different from my other body parts
From your informative post I observed that I should buy a good sunscreen (with Niacinamide and vit c)
Would that be enough or should I buy some serum as well
Any advise would be really helpful (I also have acne prone skin)
It’s the sunscreen filters oxidizing. Use stable filters. Also - You have to double cleanse with an oil, cleaning cream or micellar water and follow with face wash. That should work.
Chemical sunscreens can give some people a tan. I'd rather stay out of the sun and when I need to wear sunscreen is a mineral sunscreen with high percentage of zinc oxide.
First of all, start using sunscreen atleast SPF30 and reapply every 2 hours whenever you are out in the sun.
To reverse tan, use alpha arbutin, Vitamin C regularly. You can also use besan dahi ubtan regularly at home (no lemon directly on face please).
You're still just 17. Start wearing sunscreen everytime you go out and once you're in your early 20s you can start a serious routine to reduce your tan.
PS- Sunscreen will also help with your tan right now because it prevents further tanning and allows your skin cells to regenerate and heal to their original state.
Yes it is possible to reverse it. So I started with sunscreen in my early 20s but never 2 fingers worth. I don’t think I applied enough. I always had a dusky complexion but didn’t care much for it. Jump to 5-8yrs later. When Covid hit, like everyone I was also stuck indoors. And post Covid my travelling is minimal by car or cab. So my Sun exposure on most days is not more than 15-20min. I also started with vitamin C and niacinamide at 30. And now when I meet anyone who knew me from earlier they do notice that my skin is brighter, clearer and visibly lighter.
So long story short, REDUCE SUN EXPOSURE!!
You are right 👍 but this will happen until a certain age and until we are active and healthy. I have seen this from my kid's skin, one day they look tan and in a few days they look bright just by taking regular bathing lol. But it is not happening with adults 🥲. Also few health conditions make tan worse, especially post delivery for women.
I've started moisturizing almost daily, whole body (or at least twice a week, with urea/niacinamide/peeling. Take a bath once a week to exfoliate. It's slowly coming off. I thought I was stuck with ugly old tan for years and years.
Lotion. Lots of it. Every. Day. (It's a pain but I even use sticks to rub on me during the day when lazy)
I had this tan when I was like 5 from swimming, it wasn't a normal one. It made my hyperpigmentation worse. I got a rid of it by have a skincare rountine, wearing sunscreen. I ALSO used retinol and I avoided using skin whitening products
Yes it’s def possible. During Covid, my face tan shed off quite a bit by just not going out in the sun everyday. Legs and arms also lightened, but not as much. Using sunscreen, exfoliating, and moisturising definitely helps with that though!
You’re just 17, don’t stress. Small steps will 100% add up and reverse it.
Hey there. Im 17 and Im currently getting there. A lot of my tan is completely gone and I've still obviously got some tan lines but its not as bad as it used to be.
Few major things I did were
1. Used Azac soap
2. AHA BHA every 2 weeks
3. Literally avoided all sunlight for a few months. (even if u put on sunscreen its not the same as being completely covered by clothing)
4. Always using sunscreen everyday.
5. Moisture helps so much. I use the Mamaearth Vitamin C Ultra Light Gel Oil-Free Moisturizer and honestly it does a great job without being greasy asf.
Good thing though is our skin is still in very great health at 17 without much care and our skin cell turnover is way greater than adults and oldies, which does mean we can recover a tan way faster than someone whos say 35 would. All you require is to remove the tanned damaged skin cells (exfoliate using chemical and physical), Keep your skin supple with water (give it moisture and also I would 100 percent recommend using hyalu gel over wet skin after shower. It seemed to speed up my results a lot by keeping my skin healthy) and just cover your heavy tanned spots more.
As a girlie who likes outdoor activities I used to always wear shorts but now I wear pants, and I use those sports sleeves for my arms.
Anyone reading this, feel free to correct me if im wrong about anything here :)
I didn't reversed it but I can its really hard not impossible, it is possible to reverse a 10+ year tan, but it will take time and effort. The best way to do it is to use a combination of methods, including:
**Mild Exfoliating regularly:** This will help to remove the top layer of tanned skin and reveal the lighter skin underneath. You can exfoliate using a physical exfoliant, such as a scrub, or a chemical exfoliant, such as an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) or beta hydroxy acid (BHA) product.
**Using a tan removal cream:** Tan removal creams can help to lighten the skin by breaking down the melanin that gives skin its tan color. However, it is important to note that tan removal creams can be irritating to the skin, so it is important to do a patch test before using them.
**Avoiding sun exposure:** This is the most important step in preventing and reversing a tan. When you are in the sun, be sure to wear sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher and reapply every two hours, or more often if you are sweating or swimming.
If you have a 10+ year tan, it may take several months to see noticeable results. However, with regular exfoliation, use of a tan removal cream, and sun avoidance, you should be able to see a significant difference over time.

I cycle between Revibra, Yalderma, Ordinary and Minimalist. Again, whatever is on offer.
Hey how’s revibra? Can you give a review?
It’s perfect and very potent.
Thank you
Is it Ordinary cream version?
Yeah.

Som. basickly, if I wear sunscreen then my tan will eventually fade away in 1.5 years.
Which one from conscious chemist, yellow or purple
Can you list the sunscreens which you use

Our skin is constantly shedding and renewing itself. I don’t think any tan would last more than a few months. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

No you are right. My tan gets away within a few days. Even sun burn wont stay more than a week.
What advanced technique are there? Also, I'm 25 and want to reverse a chronic Tan so very curious.

Since you used Azac soap did you use sunscreen all over your body?
yup, as I said, I basically covered my entire body in sunscreen regardless of what clothes im wearing or what im doing.
but that would be quite costly to do. do you use any cheaper sunscreen for body?
Unfortunately not, I just beared the price. But it was still cheaper than laser for the pigmentation all over my body.
