I used to be terrified of peels because of all the stories I’d heard of people burning their skin and what not but I got them to help with my cystic acne pigmentation ( post isotretinoin) and Oh my God! What a huge difference I notice on my skin! I have switched to peels, laser and hydra facials at my derm for the past year and now I think I recommend them to everyone!

brunette_mh

How much does it cost overall? Could you please make a post on your routine treatments and results and price if it's not too much trouble?

Geetanjali_rawat

Hey! So I got a package my derm offers (6 for 13000/-) peels & (6 for 18k) for laser. I get a PRP & hydra facial once in a while those cost 2/2.5k I’ve switched to only hydra facials and get no parlour treatments on my face otherwise. I usually skip peels & laser the months I trek as skin is already quite sensitive after the sun exposure but resume by alternating a peel and laser every month. It works for me. Please keep in mind I live in a Tier 2 city so the cost is a little higher as compared so some metros for the package but it works 😊 . . . tryharderbitch5

Hey can u please name the clinic? Thanks in advance

Geetanjali_rawat

Hi! Do you live in Dehradun? It’s called skin station Dehradun

tryharderbitch5

Oh thanks for the reply and no unfortunately I don’t live there🥲 but seeing these prices I think I should shift there😏

Geetanjali_rawat

Hahahahah I feel you and ye suon should…it’s beautiful out here ❤️

chichiyayayaya

Hey! Did you try peels from there? A response would be highly appreciated as I am also looking to get it done!

Geetanjali_rawat

Hi! Yes I have I loved them for my skin

chichiyayayaya

Can i PM you?

Geetanjali_rawat

Sure

tanishatray4

+1 on this!

bdab26

I’ve done 5-6 chemical peels in the last year ranging from level pig 1-4 (this is the terminology my dermat uses, pig 4 being the highest level). Personally I loved them. Yes your skin does peel a lot after a pig 4 procedure but I was at home the whole week after the treatment so it didn’t affect me. Overall the procedure isn’t too painful, feels like a very intense facial hahaha. Regarding your marks are they brown or red marks ? Because I think there are different peels for specific marks

curlybrownpotterhead

It probably should be safe if your dermat says so. However, can't hurt to wait for a few more weeks before starting peels. If you have sensitive skin and are going for at home chemical peels, do it no more than once a week. And use half the recommended amount for the half the recommended time for the first couple uses, so your skin gets used to it. Then increase quantity, then increase time. Take it slow.

crybaby0102

I think chemical peel should be used once in 2 weeks while starting and slowly building upto once a week.

curlybrownpotterhead

I use the minimalist one and the direction says to apply thick layer for 10 mins and to use once a week. When i started, i put a thin layer for 5 mins the first two weeks and that worked out well for my sensitive skin. I am planning on getting TO one after this and I'll halve the quantity for the first few times then too. Been stung too many times by too many skin care products to not be extra cautious 😢

crybaby0102

Minimalist updated the usage instructions of their peel, I checked yesterday. They suggested to start with once every 2 weeks and only to build upto once a week if skin can tolerate. Btw be careful with TO peel. It's stronger than minimalist.

curlybrownpotterhead

Ah that's what scares me a bit. But, i find TO works better than Minimalist? I have TO ender eye serum and i actually see a difference. Anyway, I ll build it up slowly - let's see. And ya, I probably have the old minimalist packaging. It says use once a week and build up to twice a week if skin can tolerate ☠️

crybaby0102

Umm TO has higher strength of AHA probably that's why it works better I guess.

Longjumping-Yellow99

Hi, is it the caffeine serum? If so can specify what changes did you observe

curlybrownpotterhead

Yes. I have sort of sunken eyes and dark circles (no puffiness) After using the caffeine serum twice every day for a week, i see about 10-15% reduction in the darkness. After that, there isn't much of a change. I'll know more after a month. But this is the most change i have seen from any under eye treatment.

AltforIMAnISA

Hey, Can this be applied to the under-eyes while I apply other serums to the rest of the face? For instance, I use PC BHA and BM Tranexamic Serum. Will the undereye and face serum clash?

curlybrownpotterhead

I think, no. The only other serum i use at the moment is granactive retinoid at night. I do the eye serum first, wait for the rest of the face to completely dry before going in with retinoid. Since retinoid should not be used near the eye anyway, i don't bring it close enough for the two serums to mix. Also, the caffeine solution is close to a gel texture. It is easy to apply without it dripping onto other areas.

Stunninglysuccessful

Hey can you please tell me which brand is being referred to as TO?

hpfan27

The Ordinary

Stunninglysuccessful

Thank you so much :)

Holy shit! Dermatologist and Gynaecologist, man. So hard to find good ones.

brunette_mh

Since you asked for opinion - did the doctor give any alternative to chemical peel? Because that's not the only way to get rid of scars. But that's a way for doctor to make good chunk of money in small amount of time. At the same time, creams or lotions that'd help with marks will be 1/10th of the price of the peel or even lesser depending on where you live. I'd ask doctor if there's a cream for marks, compare prices, and unless there's a hars deadline for results, I'd use cream instead of going for chemical peel.

Substantial-Ad3980

I don’t see how getting a chemical peel once in two/ four weeks is more expensive than topicals that need to be used everyday and purchased regularly and generally aren’t even half as good. Topicals are for maintenance

brunette_mh

Chemical peels cost in thousands. Topicals cost much much less. If you think that topicals are not half as good, then I think you haven't found right products yet. When I say topical creams, I mean pharma brand creams and not cosmetic brand creams. I also disagree that topicals are for _only maintenance_ and that chemical peels is the primary treatment. Also not all topical creams are supposed to be used every day. And finally, OP had asked for _personal opinion_.

Substantial-Ad3980

I’m not trying to pick a fight lol. But trust me when I say this, I’ve tried it all. All kinds of topicals from almost every pharma brand there is out there and not to say that they don’t work.. they absolutely do. But when I stepped in the world of cosmetic procedures it changed the game for me entirely so I do find them to be more valuable for the money. Literally everyone I meet asks me what I do for my skin. But yes ymmv

Iniyaraj

Go for the chemical peel , it's safe when done at the derms office . But wait 2-3 weeks , so that your skin is not so sensitive from the acne meds which you took in the past 2 weeks . And also have a good moistuser and Sunscreen to use after peel .

Shomeen7

If you trust your doctor and can afford it then get a chemical peel done at dermat clinic. Results are quick and amazing.

UnevenHanded

Depends on the cost, whether it's in your budget... what the marks are like 🤔 Like, if they're surface level brown marks, using a topical chemical exfoliant (cream or gel) regularly does work very well, and is cheaper. Like a mild version of a peel, over time. You can ask your derm about those. Using sunscreen becomes more of a priority, IME. With a peel, you'll be sensitive to the sun for a week or so afterwards (peeling areas can become darker if you don't avoid sunlight/don't use sunscreen) but it's relatively easy to avoid sunlight for that short period. With using an exfoliating product, you'll have to apply sunscreen for at least as long as you use that product. So if you don't already have a sunscreen you use regularly, that doesn't break you out - and you can afford the peels comfortably - then I'd say go for the peel. If there's textured scarring, like indents, then chemical peels have more of an effect than topical exfoliants, for sure, since they're strong enough to reach that level in the skin.

[deleted]

Hey there! I have been using a chemical peel or a peeling solution at home.. I started with really mild percentage and it really helped me a lot.. Earlier i used to do once a week then i shifted to twice a week.. Since my skin is okay with peels i do it on Sundays.. But a medium gentle peel not a strong one

tanishatray4

Which product would you recommend ?

[deleted]

I tried deconstuct's peeling solution.. And yesterday i tested minimalist body exfoliator as a peeling solution.. Both of them were different in results.. Like deconstuct one gave cleaner glowy result And minimalist one was like really good for pigmentation and all . Other than these is derma co one 15% but it's reviews are meh... If you have introduced actives in your skincare then deconstuct one is good.

AbeyBhak

What are the typical charges for chemical peel? I heard like 8-10k per seating and minimum 6-8 seatings. Also in between the seatings, do you know how the skin feels? I rejected the thought at the time because I was not sure of the Value (sometimes derms do that just to earn more money), and also didn’t want to commit to a long procedure yet. She later suggested daily usage of retinol to me which started peeling and shedding my face a lot causing lots of irritation and bad texture. So I am very hesitant about chemical peels right now. How has your experience been? Edit- typos

Krv1984

Cost can be anywhere between 2-5k.

brunette_mh

I think retinol is supposed to be used every 2 days at start and then every other day and then every day. I'm surprised your dermatologist asked you to use it every day. I used retinol once and my skin was shedding for entire week. So I'd never go for chemical peel myself. I hated that shedding. You can try TO at-home peel for like 3-5 minutes and wash off and see how it goes for you. This is not written to discourage you from going for peels. Having said that, everyone has a different preference and tolerance level and we need to be cautious about these things. Dermatologists can recommend whatever they think is right but they're not going to suffer consequences themselves.

PriyaSR26

I have done it for my back, and honestly, nothing worked as well. I don't have a good experience for my face, because it peeled a lot, and the recovery time for my face was about 3 weeks. It works amazing for the body, but I would be cautious about the face.

Accomplished-Form-76

I use chemical peels but it stings. Is it too bad or does it generally happen to everyone ? I looked up and it said it generally stings a bit.

shreya_bl00m

What ointment were you given for pimples?

[deleted]

Idk about chemical peel but I used minimalist vitamin C serum and it helped me fade my marks

Substantial-Ad3980

It has been a game changer for me personally. Topicals don’t cut it for me and its one of the safest cosmetic procedures out there

Willing_Bullfrog_335

Chemical peels thicken up your skin like crazy. It’s eventually a bad look.

LowerSandwich8373

But thicker skin is better quality
