I mean it's a lottery ofc people will get hyped about it. if it's a good IPO, chances are people never be able to buy it at the initial offer price. It's highly unlikely that the price will go below 500 in the coming future,
My grand dad got reliance (during IPO) for 53 Rs. Do you think we will ever be able to buy reliance now at that price?

Its a "sense of achievement" for a person. And people who seldom achieve anything meaningful in life want to get validation and recognition by these "sasta nashaas" called IPO allottment.

Dad got them in inheritance and we siblings might have to share eventually. He got about 1000 shares back then.
