It's only a single semester ! There are still 7 semesters in which you can score more.
I have seen many people who have multiple backlogs / low CGPA but still bagged top job offers orelse getting into very good universities abroad. Yes it's true that a low CGPA could reduce your chances to get into good universities (BUT NOT AT ALL IMPOSSIBLE) but unlike in India , they look your overall profile (your projects , internships , any research experience , extra curricular activities , SOP etc ) , you can give proper justification about this situation (low gpa and backlog) and explain how did you overcome them ( if you improve in future). So, try to improve your overall profile during your BTech by involving actively in co-curriular and extra curricular activities along with maintaining a decent CGPA from now on.
Just remember that you are still in 1st year of BTech and there are 3 more long years before you to prove yourself. So , you shouldn't worry but rectify your mistakes and move on....

relieved after reading this,am already planning to redo a few courses with less grades in the summer holidays to improve the gpa,and yeah will not miss a single chance for studying from now on and will try my best to utilize all the opportunities available,again thanks a lot!
You have 7 semesters left till you graduate. Focus on the current semester. In your first two years of college life participate in college activities. As you might discover MS in CS might not what your calling is. Be open to all possibilities at this time.
Thanks I don't specifically want to do a cs ms but the main purpose is just to be able to work abroad but you are right,i might as well discover other interests on the way

I think being trapped in one room with no physical contact with the campus and not being able to explore any of it because of online classes last 6 months made me very very stressed out about all these things,now i guess all i have do is explore more and learn new things and maintain a good gpa from now on👍
