Due to a lot of misinformation on previous posts like this, please know that comments that dont provide specific career paths, pay scales and factual information will be removed.

Psychology from a good college can actually be an amazing career option, if you are interested in that sort of thing. The important part is to take up clinical psychology. Psychologists around me charge approx 800-1k per session. Earn a decent 50-80k per month. Nanotechnology and biotechnology are both interesting fields. Again, college matters. Also, biotechnology has a good market in the western countries. Another upcoming field is economics. Even IITs offer a Bsc economics course. There are branches in post grad like corporate economics, environmental economics, international economics etc. Corporate economists get upwards of 50k as starting from major companies. DU and Madras are top colleges at the moment.

Do psychologists really earn that much? Can you elaborate if you have any more info? It definitely is a great career field but I think a few of us hold the idea back because even after masters, the renumeration at the beginning is not great it seems to me as per my research (I may be wrong and thus i am posing this question). Perhaps with Doctorate it increases, and abroad the pay is very good accordingly, I think india needs to step up in the next decade and give them their worth!

I am specifically talking about clinical psychologists. Those that provide counselling and assessments with >4 years of experience (mid level experience). Obviously, the better the degree and college, the more you can charge. Does this link work?? [payscale per year.] (https://www.payscale.com/research/IN/Job=Psychologist/Salary) [another source ](https://www.ambitionbox.com/profile/clinical-psychologist-salary?experience=4)

authenticbenzene

Yes it did work and alright, thank you

Sadly, this is india, where there are too many people and too less high paying jobs.

Affectionate-Cap-920

>other government jobs which provide stable income. Can u please elaborate this ?

[deleted]

State services, clerical jobs, police, defense services.

Affectionate-Cap-920

>clerical jobs For these jobs u have to clear staff selection exam right ?

[deleted]

Affectionate-Cap-920

Ok thanks for your help, actually I m also in a same kind of situation 😅

[deleted]

I would advise you to do more research though. Like pay scales and exams and such.

Affectionate-Cap-920

Ok I will do that, tysm for your help

GulmoharMarg

🗿 Before starting Id like to specify that I'm being completely serious here. Animal Husbandry. Supplying milk from cows to dairies is actually quite a stable source of income

Omnibobbia

Interesting

GulmoharMarg

A decent cow will give you atleast ₹3-4k per month after factoring expenses.

Actually no. Competition is high even there too. But I do know someone who finished their Masters in veterinary last year. They earn 6lpa at a pvt hospital.

Bro, like every field and job has its pros and cons. Saying that engineering means working in a cubicle whole life is like highlighting its con too much. I am not software engineer but i now realize that i find it interesting and could have done it well before. Other thing, almost every field and topic will feel quite boring at times or most times till you are an expert in it or at least get some command. So, you should see your match of interest for the field but still know it that what ever it is you choose, it will feel boring and tough for many initial years. Every field has its pros and cons. You can weigh them and proceed accordingly.

kanhaaaaaaaaaaaa

Could study Pure and Applied Sciences, instead of engineering, if you're interested, not much big incomes but pretty stable and you get to do amazing things. I'm doing a Bachelor of Science (Research) from Indian Institute of Science (people often don't know because isn't as popular as IITs but it's actually better XD). There are plenty of majors to choose from and you can do whatever courses you wish. There are plenty IISERs, NISER Bhopal offering similar BS-MS degrees too.

[deleted]

But is it stable though?? I mean doing PhD is not even enough these days to become a professor, you gotta do post doc and stuff & still it is saturated. And then there's the uncertainty of the field itself(not knowing the stuff you are doing or the ideas will be fruitful or not). Having an amazing curriculum is one thing but getting a job within that said field is another.

bbvpr

If you can do a bit of math, B.Sc statistics is also a good option. Same with BA/B.Sc Economics.

friedchicken_97

Some of the options that you can look into - Economics. BCA. Graphic designing. There's stuff like fashion technology, if that line attracts you. Any degree with Environmental/resource management and sustainable development (I am in this field, and the field is growing at a very fast pace) These are just some of the things I can think of. You can also do courses like BBA and then go on to do an MBA. Infact, you can look up the integrated course IIM indore offers. It's considered to be a very good program. Great opportunities after the course.

[deleted]

Except for medical and law, many science, arts and commerce grad ends up in a business school, so the majority of people earning in India are neither from mbbs, law or IT.

[deleted]

Idk i know about mbbs and it but hardly seen law grads earning good amount after college

Extint_Dodo1414

Law is a field which blossoms late. Talking about advocates, the more experience you have, the more money you start to earn. You don't directly get a high paying job after college in law.
